at 303 lbs too big for OLB....too small for a 3-4 NT.
This kid is a 4-3 DT...not a 3-4 NT.
He is a DE. Now you can make a case Miami lost Porter and JT and need pass rushers, so maybe instead of getting our pressure from OLB, we will look to get it from our DE. Just brainstorming out loud
No worries guys, Odrick is an awesome player...he's young and a "thinly" built 300 pounder...which means he's either going to add lots of muscle and move inside or he will be our HUGE DE pass rusher from the outside with amazing feet and moves. This player has got superstar written all over him.
Let's see, a somewhat lazy DE who takes plays off...
Didn't we just make this pick two years ago, ie. Philip Merling?
Yeah that's what lost us games last year our weakness at DE?? We dumped BOTH of our starting OLB'ers and starting FS. We have glaring holes at those positions. The draft ain't over, but I think we'll be kicking ourselves later for either not taking Earl Thomas when we had the chance, or filling one of our need positions with that 28th pick.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS great pick! Being the resident PSU alum I got to watch this guy a LOT. He just does not stop...I was really hoping he was going to fall to us after we traded down.
Ordrick plays DE on rushing downs. Plays NT on passing downs. that's why they like him. He played on the NORTH side when the Fins coached the SOUTH side in the Senior bowl, and that is when they took notice of this kid.
I heard some things about his motor being good, but then there are other reports about how he gives up on plays and Mayock was talking about how he ends up on the ground a lot, which is a bad sign for a D-lineman. Something to the effect of taking a lot of cut blocks

Kiper's BLUE BOOK in front of me says he has a non-stop motor and battles on every play
I agree with Dolfan. I don't get it. We had Earl at 12, then we opted out to 28th pick, we had Kindle and Hughes( the sack machine ). Odrick to small to play DT in a 3-4.
Thomas is small framed. I don't think Parcells would have gone for him. Hughes does not fit the Parcells' prototype for OLB. And Kindle has the 2 off field incidents, a DUI, and his accident where he drove his car into a building and fled the scene.
If we can trade down in Rd 2, I'm all for it. We need bodies on defense. We missed out on the elite OLB's at this point (Kindell won't fall to 40)....so now its about adding athletes to our defense and getting younger.
Look at our defense. Vonte, Sean Smith, Odrick, Langford, Dansby, Wake....the core of our defense for years to come. If we get a big-time pass rusher at OLB who can play, I like how we are building our defense
