ArmandoSalguero

As far as I know Jason Taylor deal to the Jets is NOT "close to done." Reports saying it is close are simply NOT CORRECT.

I'll believe it when I see it. The draft is only a few weeks away. The jets are the only team interested that is restricted in how much they can offer him. After the draft, other teams, including the phins, may offer more. So, while I think the phins are unfairly d*king him around by waiting till the draft, I see it as being in JTs interest to wait until after the draft to sign a contract, esp if it means he can sign here for the same or better $$ as NYJ, where I think all things being equal he really doesn't want to play. After the draft, the jets offer will still be there.

Yea, I don't believe this report for a half of second.

Zach Thomas would slap his brother in law if he joined the stinkin Jests.

JT probably had to hurry home after that two day visit and take a long shower.

I believe the report.

1) If other teams wanted him, why didn't they step up when March 1st hit. Not every team is "restricted" in signing free agents. Nobody came calling. That is a telling sign.

2) The Jets offer money wise will be the best offer he see's. The fact he got a 2 year deal speaks volumns!

3) Sounds like JT doesn't want to wait 3 or 4 more weeks. I don't blame him. Gotta move his family, find new schools for the kids by the fall, get a hoouse....that's a lot of work and taxing on a family, especialy one with young kids

JT is on the downside of his career and is old. Those are the kind of players who get snapped up later in FA, not early on. So the fact he wasn't signed yet doesn't mean there's no interest. He will have his choice of teams if he waits, so why sign with the NYJ right now? Only reason is if he is pissed at how mia is treating him, and no longer wants to wait to see if we will offer him a contract after the draft. if he's still OK with the whole process, I see him waiting for our offer after the draft, and if it doesn't come, going to either the highest bidder or another team in FLA.

LOL! Your getting way ahead of yourself there. This rumor is started by JT's Agent. Everyone knows that JT wants to stay in South Florida. Part of why the Redskins move was so unatractive (after the fact) is that his family remained in Florida.

The agent is doing his job. But, JT is in no hurry to sign on with the Jests.

Last year JT didn't sign with us until after the draft. The same is more than likely this year.

The agent can't make up the fact the Jets have drawn up "real" papers that are ready to be signed any moment now.

Look I don't know where he goes, but this is no ploy. He has a contract in hand he can sign at any moment

We will see. The Agent can pretend that JT has interest. I don't see that from JT himself. He clearly did this Jersey tour because of his agent. It's not anything he is pursuing. But, if he has actual interest he should sign really soon. I doubt that happens.

Jets want to sign Mark Brunell as their backup QB. But can't because they gotta wait for JT to sign first. They aren't losing their "1 FA" now because they feel JT is signing this weekend

So, we will see

Jt is not going to sign with Jets. I understand his point of view, MIKe, sign now before teams maybe go younger in the draft. I think some teams have shown interest but most believe he would never uproot from Miami at the end of his career. At the end of the day, signing with the Jets has way to many downsides. First, his family and retirement after football. Him nor his family are going to be living in NJ or NY after his football days are done. Jason has his Sea Vee, likes to fish, his wife and kids have roots here. They invested to much into this town, and would not risk that by spitting in the town and his fanbase faces for a chance at what with the Jets. For the roughest media, a team, we beat twice last year. I think if this is all not a game Parcells cook up, which is what I think. JT is better waiting till after the draft, the dolphins will sign him, if they don't, At that point he should sign outside the AFC east, or retire. The Jets is just way to much downside for JT and his family for a long time. And the upside, is he has to stay healthy at 35, handle the harsh NY fans, critics, and media, to hope that Sanchez and Rex are going to lead him to the promise land. No way he signs, and I cant believe everyone in the media belives he will. As Ocho cinco would say, "that dont make no damn sense"

1) If Farve can go to Minnesota then JT can to to the Jets

2) JT can live in the state of Florida and Miami even if he plays a couple years with the Jets. THis isn't soccer where the fans shoot you and kill you if they don't like what you do on the field. Seriously, its only football

I honestly dont think it's that far fetched either, I dont blame him or the Dolphins if it happens also, he's gotta look out for his best interest and the Dolphins obviously didn't want to commit to him this early (or maybe at all for that matter) looks like they want to get younger at the position.

1) Farve and his family didnt plan on living in Green Bay in retirement or even offseason, his home has always been in Hatiesburg. That is a big difference, IMO.

2) JT of course would not be shot or face violence, but I can tell you it wouldnt be fun. He also can sell products here, a local fan base that is interested. He signs with the Jets, his south florida celebrity status plummets, and yes there will unfortunately be wackos, that harass him in public about it regularly. Think about the local celebrity Marino enjoys, vs the potential of throwing that away

That is a huge overreaction. IT'S ONLY SPORTS!!! IT'S ONLY A GAME!!!

I agree its only a game, but he recieves much of his local celebrity because of the team and game, when you sign with the Rival, fans do take that personally. Look at, what Phinfans said, and I can't say I disagree. I think for example, if JT pulled up in his boat at La Playa or local marinas. He would get, so "where is the Jets Flag', "traitor", that type of BS.
For example, I was at a heat game maybe 7 or 8 years ago. They were doing the fan spotlight on the bigscreen. They showed Mike Piazza, and the entire crowd just started booing him like crazy, really bad. He was stunned. It was all over when he was traded to the Marlins for a day after the dismantling of the 97 team. Well he said he didnt want to play and wouldnt play for the Marlins. Years later, the fans despised the guy in a completely different sport. They even put him back on the screen with Dj Irie giving him respect and wearing a heat Jersey, the fans still booed him off the screen.
Now you think JT is going to leave to go to the Jets and what is going to happen to him courtside 2 years from no at a heat game, and where ever else. I am not condoning it, I am just telling you I think it is a reality and I think JT and his family does as well

So he gets boooo'd at a Heats game, big deal.

I think JT will be fine with that. Really

And being a millionare is a GOOD thing. When your rich being booo'd is no big deal. He would just be playing the role of "bad guy wrestler" and laugh it off. Seriously, the $3.45 mill he is about to get means more than possibly being booo'd at the 4 or 5 Heat games a year he might go to

My guess: JT's using this to see what he's actually worth on the open market. He doesn't intend to sign with the Jets, but he'll string them along as long as he can before saying NO. I just can't see him playing for the Jets, but if, say, Tampa comes calling...he's gone!

Mike, the 72hrs are up today. My guess is, the fact JT, hasnt signed yet with JETS tells me, it isnt going to happen. Further proving IMO, that this was all a part of Parcell's predraft misinformation plan. That REX Ryan was the only coach cocky enough to fall for it.

We will see. He said he will take the weeekend. It's only 9am Sat morning. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions yet.

When Sunday night comes and goes and if he hasn't signed then we will see what the next phase of this story is.
