Yes and no...because Brandon Marshall (no doubt a great talent) is not a locker room guy we can count on the do or say the right things. This team is young, and getting younger. We need players that are locker room leaders as well as big time players. Marshall is not the guy THIS team needs right now.
Now, you can say some of the same things about Dez Bryant but the difference between them is this; Bryant will be a rookie, is younger, hungry, cheaper and will hopefully play for us longer. This while giving the coaching staff an opportunity to work with him on his past issues to ensure he becomes the kind of player THIS team needs going forward.
Risk, reward....and maybe the coaches think Bryant is too big a risk too. Who knows? We will in around three weeks thats for sure.

Florio is a die-hard Pittsburgh fan and a bigger West Virigina fan. And he also worked at ESPN for a year. He started what today you see as their "Insider" area.
And YES, I would give up the #12 for Brandon. I mean this team with Will Allen, Tony McDaniel, Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, and Richie Incognito can no longer claim they want "good character" guys and "no thugs and hodlums". Might as well go all the way and bring in Brandon
You would really give up the #12 pick, plus another what, $30M in the contract it would take to sign Marshall? For a guy with at least 8 documented incidents of domestic violence, involvements in two shootings, an arrest for assaulting a police officer, and a DUI? This is a guy who is ultimately going to land in jail, or worse. And on top of that, he got suspended twice in one year by his coach for football related issues. Have you seen the clip of him intentionally batting down passes at practice as a little protest about his contract? There is no way he is worth the risk.

1) If paying the guy $30M then impacts your ability to sign other players, and it's being wasted on a guy in jail, then it's a killer for your organization. And the salary cap will be back. You can't screw yourself for the future.
2) Not even close to true. Last year's #12 pick got a 5 year, $16M contract. Considering that Marshall is probably looking for $10M per season, it's not even in the ballpark.
3) It was Marshall who said he was hurt and then didn't show up for his physical therapy treatments.
4) There is a huge difference between a guy like Incognito who gets called for personal foul penalties, and a guy like Marshall who is involved in beatings, stabbings, and shootings of other human beings. Police say they've been called to Marshall's house 11 times the last 2 years. This guy makes Lawrence Phillips look not so bad.
We need WR help. But, we need a guy we can count on who is not going to cripple the franchise financially.
I'd make the trade, but then again a trade like that seemes madden footballish. The thing people aren't realizing(or at least talking about) is that the coaching staff thinks our current group of WR is good enough.
Do you think if we had Marshall last season, would we have won the Indy and Saints game?...maybe 2 or 3 others...and then who knows?
Take him...he is one of the best wideouts around..hopefully more mature...remember his 21 catches against Indy. This guy would bring our offence into Top 5 territory, with a Top 10 defence, the recipe would be there for a Super Bowl run.
Trust them all you want, but no complaining next year Week 1 when the Jets are lining up Revis and Cromartie at corner we are are throwing Bess and Camarillo as our starting WR's.
Go back and look at all my posts Mike, I dont think our WRs are as bad as everyone else does, would I haved loved to have up-graded with a top 10 talent? HELL YES! (but not at the cost of our long term future) Do I think we should take a WR early in the draft? EH, not at the 12 spot, but if we trade down in the 1st, maybe, and if not, then in the 2nd or 3rd. If we dont i'm not giving up on them like you are though, call me stupid all you want, but i've been a die-hard fan since the 70's and i've been through some pretty lean years, and guess what.......i'm still a die-hard fan. You like to look at everything as doom-and-gloom and I tend to shrug my shoulders and say "oh well, we'll see what happens". The worst coach/GM's we've ever had (whoever that may be) still has 100 times more pro-football knowledge then any of us on this board, so yes I trust them and their judgement more then I trust you or anyone else on here.
I think our WR's are worse than what some people make them out to be. That isn't doom and gloom, that is reality. Our WR corp is the WORST IN THE NFL! Once again, "REALITY"
We took Patrick Turner in Rd 3 last year, I have no faith in this group drafting a WR outside of Rd 1. Outside of the #12 pick really.

But, you already paid the price of a #1 pick, which is huge.
And as for Incognito, a 20 year old college football player who was linked to a steroid ring got into a fight at a college party. Shocking. Again, big difference from that to a guy who beats up women with regularity and has been involved in other violent incidents including two shootings and a stabbing. You cannot sell your soul for a few wins. Marshall is a total dirtbag of a human being. He has no place even being in the league. And again, have you seen the video of the guy intentionally batting down passes thrown to him in practice? So, on top of being a dirtbag, he's also a total tool on the football field.

I agree with that about Seattle at 14. And Dallas is another sleeper team that might decide to give up their 1st round pick for Marshall as well. I mean they are picking so late, might as well take a SURE THING to team up with Miles Austin and just have an explosive offense to compete with New Orleans and Minny. It would put them on their level.
Look at the stats on NFL.com Mike, we rank in the low to mid 20's, by my math, with 32 teams, thats not 2nd worse. Now tell me stats mean nothing, but really what else do you have to go on.
But our group of WR's are one of the worst in the NFL. And if we are in the low to mid 20's, it sounds as if you are happy with that?!?!? WHY!! That is a glaring need we have done nothing to fix! Unless the plan since Day 1 was to draft Dez Bryant, which I highly doubt!!!
We can't win with this current group! To think we can is foolish! Every team that went to the playoffs and deep into the playoffs had multiple big-time weapons at the WR position. Miami doesn't have one guy like that on their roster let alone two. They don't even have guys who can turn into those types of players. We have nothing! You can't win with this group!
I'll move on.....but I want the last word We can win with this group, we have. And who says we dont have anyone that can turn into a top line reciever? Hartline alone has better 1st year numbers (and his speed is right there too) then some of the all time greats. I'm done.
dolphaholic. Marshall was not involved in that shooting. I don't know where you are getting that from. He was there, that's all. Never an issue in Denver.
Not saying I want him for many other reasons, although he can sure play. And for most of last year he was very good in the locker room.

Now Brian Hartline is an all time great. That is downright SILLY and FOOLISH!
