That may turn out to be true Monty, but what reasons are there that he can't? If you say size, speed or 1st year #'s, he compares well with some good ones in the past.

Speed partly but mostly stuff you can't measure, like how easily he shakes off the defender and gets open. He's nowhere near a Randy Moss, for example.
I think if we get a legit #1 on the other side (a Moss-type), then Hartline will benefit and could be come one of the top #2 guys...but he's still a #2. The top 10 guys are nearly all #1's. Welker may be an exception, but if they lose Moss he won't be in the top 10 anymore.
I agree Hartline can turn into a good to top level #2 WR in the NFL. A Steve Smith (Giants) type. Good hands, good routes, makes plays and big plays on occasion. Someone an opponent has to keep an eye on at all times. It would be fair to comapre Hartline with Steve Smith (Giants). Or guys like Jericho Cotchery, TJ Houshmanzada, even a Hines Ward you could maybe sell me on as a fair comparision down the road as Hartline develops.
But you can't bring up the names of Rice and Largent! Two of the Top 10 WR's of all time!! He isn't on that level and never will be! And Hartline's rookie year isn't anywhere close to Jerry Rice's. Rice caught for 1,000 yards as a rookie and avg of 20 yards per catch. I think Hartline only had 450 or so yards last year. And Largent caught 54 balls as a rookie in an "era" when teams didn't really throw a lot. It's not even close
