I'm not sure about Tannehill. I mentioned before that I don't believe he processes information quick enough at game speed to be an elite QB.
In the Tennessee game one of the Titans jumped offside. I'm thinking, throw the damn ball, you got a free play, nothing bad can happen, somebody must be running deep, every other QB in the damn league would throw the damn ball. What does Tanny do? He tucks the ball under his arm and runs out of bounds. WTF!! Were there no receivers downfield?
I'm hoping that his development was somehow squelched by subpar coaches and that he still has room to develop but, QB 101 says throw the damn ball when somebody jumps offside.

Lol I remember that one like it was yesterday...I was 10 and got sent to my room for 'pitching a fit'. No doubt in my mind that would have been our 4th straight Super Bowl and our THIRD straight title...what could have been...

GAAH...I remember that!

Loved Mike Kolen overall though. Captain Crunch, #57.

That's exactly what Aaron Rodgers does. In fact, he goes for the jugular right to the end zone in that situation if his Hail Mary can reach it.

I'm hoping that Tanny gets it some day, soon I hope. A really good QB coach can instill those kinds of reactions. And if Dan Marino spends as much time with the team as I read about, he should pull Tanny off to the side and say something.

Disagree on Tannehill. If he hasn't shown things like pocket presence or the ability to throw a deep ball at this point, don't expect to see it happen. Time to move on like San Francisco seems to be with Kaepernick

I like Landry and Matthews , and we need to see more of stills. Jennings and parker have been busts

Yeah, well......SIGH. sad smiley I will say this....I'm a Dolphins fan through and through , of course I want to win...But I like the fight and I like when the coach went for the touchdown instead of the field goal before the half. It showed courage and belief in his team. But they need to reward him back and obviously that didn't happen.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

As it turns out, going for the TD did not affect the game ....and I do appreciate the psychological grit that going for it showed but in most games when that early in the game......you take the sure points. Had there been 30 seconds on the clock and the same 1st down at the two yard line, you take your TD shot but with only 2 seconds left on the clock, your choices are basically a guaranteed (of course nothing is truly guaranteed) 3 points or a mere chance at a TD (which even if Tanny had thrown a TD pass could have been nullified by one of the million penalties called in that game (BTW I've never seen so many flags in one game in my life)). I think you tucked the 3 points in your pocket and go into the halftime locker room.

I don't know why they didn't run? Miller and Ajayi were both running great , hell tannehill could have sneaked it up , 2 secs left , didn't they learn anything from the Seahawks last year in the SB? Still , I like it much better when they strikeout swinging instead of looking to walk. That's my only point. I went nuts last season when Philbin shut it down with more then 2 minutes in the half against the Bills. That I have no patience for.

Team needs alot of work. Some good things, but dang they are making way too many mental mistakes. Tanny included. sad smiley

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Well, we can agree that if they did go for it, which they did, they did it in the worse way. And it does remind one of that Seattle pass in the SuperBowl instead of running BeastMode. Particularly the way that Ajayi had been running with that "I WILL NOT BE DENIED" attitude.

Been a long time since my disappointment ran so deep I couldn't find words to express on my Twitter account, let alone a column for Phins.com. I'm sure I'll get it together...

Exactly my thought at the time as well. 10-1 says it was Lazor's call...he needs to go.

Just had a cathartic session watching videos of Dan Marino, Nat Moore, Mark Clayton, Mark Duper, and several others. Sweet music. What a passing offense is SUPPOSED to look like! No hesitation...on time and on the money.

Tannehill and his merry band of clowns would do well to take note.

I also like our coach to be aggressive, but at the end of the half, I disagree. We could have gotten 3 points at the end of the half, instead of zero. The way it turned out, we scored on our first possession of the second half. Score then would have been 19-17, Buffalo. Could have been a completely different game from that point on, but...

You say the team needed to reward him for his confidence. To me, Lazor called the wrong play to try to score. What is RT's strength? Correct - moving with the ball. Lazor should have had RT roll out (bootleg) then have the option of running or throwing to an open receiver who has run with him. That's my opinion!

BTW, I thought Miami signed Jordan to be that Red Zone weapon?

That's great. I did the exact same thing yesterday and had my 14yr old son watch with me so he could see what it's supposed to look like.

Terrific. Let's go back in time and put Dan in a time machine and get him into 2015 and let him rip.

That's great that some here are comparing RT with Dan.

no one is comparing him to marino. that would be an insult to marino.

He's more of a poor man's Alex Smith.

After 3.5 years what improvement have you seen, cap? Pocket awareness? Reading a defense? Attacking a defense vertically? Finding mismatches?

The coaches have to call a perfect game and they have to execute flawlessly. Is it too much to ask the face of the franchise to show a little emotion? Rally the team around him?

We're kind of stuck with him. I'd go to a two TE set and run it 50x a game and throw it 15-20x.

Why compare him to anyone? That's where you will always be disappointed, unless you compare him to the last 14 QBS we've had since 2000.

This morning is bad Dolphins song parities. Why do the Dolphins hate me? (The fans) set to Rudolph the red nosed raindeer, and a pretty funny one set to Van Halens, right now. Sigh.......

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

That's good advice, and really what choice do we have? The Van Halen song did make me laugh. .....

RIGHT NOW! THE Dolphins blow.....can't wait until tomorrow, RIGHT NOW! another wasted draft pick...RIGHT NOW!

It was clever , and was a line about the new ghey logo too.......

NO ONE is comparing him to Marino? Take a look at some of the posts, jsm. I won't name names. Not important.

What improvement have I seen? Look at his stats year-to-year. He has had a crappy OL in front of him this whole time and he is still putting up good numbers. This year he isn't setting the world on fire, but he is still putting up good numbers, and yes, I know some of those numbers are coming in the 4th qtr when the other team is playing "prevent." He set an NFL record with 25(?) straight completions. He also had a perfect passer rating. I know by saying that, some posters will want to pick those numbers apart. So be it!

Vertically? He has gone downfield; completed some, missed some, some were dropped, some called back because of penalty. But he has gone downfield.

Mismatches? Sometimes rather hard to find a mismatch when 1) all receivers are covered 2) doesn't even have time to drop back before he is flattened.

I will agree that RT has to get fired up on occasion, especially with his OL. He needs to hammer them. However, the camera was on RT on the sideline after a late game sack vs Buffalo and he had a look of anger. First time I've seen that. We, as fans, don't know what goes on in the locker room. He may just be his calm self or he just may be letting this team know enough is enough. Again, we don't know. RT doesn't have the personality to blast anyone in front of millions of viewers.

If you want to say we are "stuck" with him, so be it. But, I will take RT over many of the QBs that are in the NFL right now. And as I said before, until that next "super star" comes along, RT is our guy. The FO just needs to surround RT with better players, BOTH sides of the ball.

I've said this before, but (hopefully) I can stick with it this time...I am done talking Ryan Tannehill.

What is he supposed to act like after a bad play? He knows the camera might be on him? But after rereading, I am wondering if you just want him to show some emotion, either way?

I think it's really tough for him because he surely senses that he is not the leader of the team.

That would be my goal. Get a coach in there that is going to spend 24/7 with TANN teaching him what a leader is!!!
