Players coach, little experience but good idea, let him prove that he has what it takes while an interim.. If he can handle it, good chance we keep him on....

the analysts on ESPN are currently ripping this decision, saying this guy has zero experience leading a team, much less than Philbin did when he became HC

What did you expect , a signing of Gruden? Cant be any worse. everyone starts somewhere. All reports state he is an Alpha male and can easily take over . Cant be worse, I'm hoping for the Best.
That's strange. I'm watching ESPN and they are saying this was a no brained for Ross. Opinions are like noses. Getting rid of philbin and the coordinators is a good step towards fixing this team. We have way too much talent to be under performing like this. Our coaches had no clue how to utilize our players. We need to try and shore up our o line and get some semblance of a running game going. If we do that and install a defense that uses suh and company like they should be, I see this team still making a run at it.
Absolutely. When Your sick.....first step to getting better is taking a good long hard shit. Rid your self of the disease before you move on. Lets flush and go eat some Chicken Soup!!!!!

Classic man! My kids mom always told the kids when they complained about feeling sick, "go sit on the toilet and try to poop!". Haven't laughed that hard in a while man. Thanks
Opinions will vary on whether firing Philbin was the best thing to do at this stage of the season.
Mine is that it was the best thing to do right now. Any interim coach will have his hands full. We can't expect miracles, but what I do want to see is passion and effort the next time out, win or lose.
The search for a top HC is on. What the players do to react to Coach Campbell may play a great deal on what prospect wants to take a chance coaching in Miami with these players and owner.
Big thing I noticed about Miami this year. They never came out hyped. Always flat and very slow to start. Numbers tell the story. Miami has been outscored in the first quarter by some ridiculous number. Like 125-20 before week four. Not exact numbers but the represented difference is accurate. Gotta come out hard and strong and start scoring in the first.
I highly doubt the coordinators will be changed midseason. I can not remember a head coach being fired and either offensive or defensive coordinator changed at the same time. A new Offensive or defensive system is installed in the offseason.
Whether fired or not, I think it is very telling that Ross didn't stick a coordinator in as the interim as is a usual move when a coach is fired like thos. Going to campbell and skipping over the oc and DC means to me either they are on the way out yet or that a basic new system is coming. Or both.

Not really, our last interim HC when Sparano was fired Todd Bowles was not a coordinator either.. He was the secondary coach...

Heck to the YEA!! But lets not get all worked up like we did this off season. We're still talking about an young interim with NO experience. We should spend the rest of this year seeing IF (as a lot of us suspect) we have more talent then we have shown this year.
Even if that proves so, everything has to be taken with a grain of salt for a few weeks. For the next 2-3 games, the players will be on an emotional high, other teams won't know what to expect and plan for and then there is the 'Can't be any worse' factor.
I HOPE Ross dosen't think this is the FIX. His main focus should still be on re-building the franchise long term through player evaluation and finding a talented, top tier coaching staff.

How much experience did John Harbaugh have when he, also a young positions coach, who players liked was hired to be the HC of the Ravens and went onto win a Superbowl a couple years later as the HC of the Ravens...

I seriously doubt it, as interim coaches are rarely looked at seriously. Me, I'd love to see what he could do. I was hoping we would have kept Jim Bates or Todd Bowles.

I agree, he has to do something mighty special to be considered.. But he has 12 games to prove himself.. I like the idea of a young up and coming 39 year old players coach...
