But then in typical Omar fashion he had to take a shot at "Sho Nuff" as he like to call him

"@Dolphins1311: and Tannehill needs to develop some pocket presence."ยป that's not going to happen, so fortify the O-line even more.

Funny thing is holic that RT's pocket presence this year was light years ahead of what it was the first two years.

It still has a long ways to go before it's an asset, but why bother telling the truth.

Ryan Tannehill's game has evolved & improved. His 92.3 passer rating make him a tier 2 QB. But he has the same issues he always had at QB.

If you go back to my first couple of tweets about Tannehill when I looked at him at A&M, & during his first camp in Miami...SAME ISSUES.

"He has the same issues he always had" ?

False statement.

He improved his pocket presence even though it still needs work.

He improved his decision making from 17 to 12 int's.

He improved his accuracy from 60% to 66%.

Just to name a few.

If he wants to say "he has SOME of the issues he's always had" then that would be more accurate but that's a completely different statement.

He is a tier 2 QB though.

I don't feel as if his pocket presence is any better. He still just stands there and takes a sack. Watch the playoff QB's they will slide or escape the pocket all together. You very seldom see Tannehill do anything like that.

Now he will stand in there and take a shot for sure.

The accuracy has a lot to do with shorter passes, or not attempting deeper passes.

17 int down to 12 is good.

I look for a 2 to 1 INT ratio to be good.

I gotta disagree with the accuracy one, joe.

the offense had shorter safer throws. his 10-15 yard % is low.

2013: 10.9% of drop backs were over 20 yards.
2014: 9% " "

2013: 32.8% completion rate over 20
2014: 37.7% completion rate over 20

His 10-15 yard % is low? How do you figure?

Yes he still has the same issues. That doesn't mean he didn't improve in those areas (pocket presence, accuracy, etc.) but you'd never hear Omar say that.

What it's saying is that all the stuff about Tannehill being mostly at fault for the sacks is BS and overblown.

That's a different question. And, if you will allow me, is a SUBJECTIVE question. Linemen will argue "I gave you enough time." Quarterbacks will reply, "Not enough to do my job."

Some fans will interject to the QB, "I don't care but can't you at least throw the ball away? If you're sacked at the time of the hand-off that's one thing but when you have time to at least look down field, you have time to throw it in the cheap seats."

No lineman post Albert injury have enough credibility to make that statement. They were terrible once James had to move.

And how many times was that? If he was outside the tackles, maybe but most times he was not sacked outside the pocket. Spot foul, back up even further. Protect the ball!

I got another for you. QB to WR. Get open! Come back to the ball.

Don't put words in my fingers. smiling smiley I never gave a percentage. Only mentioned it as a factor. I am just asking where the "implied" data is coming from? I don't hold much credence for "what fans would say" because most of it is uneducated and emotional.

I will definitively say that the majority of sacks were charged to the offensive line as it is often implied that Tannehill is mostly at fault. That is inaccurate.

Fault for sacks:

OL = 75%
TE/RB = 15%
QB = 10% Tannehill

That is really all I'm saying. No one would argue that he doesn't need to improve but my problem comes from the people who imply he isn't getting better and will not continue to do so.

>

It is true that he he is not exactly "comfortable". I would like to see him perform with a decent line before I make an all encompassing opinion. He has never had a good one in 3 years.

and I'll bet when you examine those 15 to
> 20 yard throws that the majority of them were out

> should be for the majority of the time.

That's widely speculative as well as inaccurate. We all know his game this year was based on short passing. He threw from play action or read option 24% of the time or 144 times so how could they have been a majority?

He had a QB rating of 85.1 in RO/Play action. He was much better without it at 95.3

>
> I have seen a couple of good deep throws by Tanny

Yes because the routes for the WR's are different this year and he hardly ever attempted the deep ball in the traditional fashion, IE the deep pass down the sideline. I did, however see several bullets that were thrown in tight windows and traveled 30-40 yards. Excellent throws. Some for TD's.

Tannehill was ranked 10th in the entire league in "yards in the air w/o drops"....meaning, not including yards after catch. He had 2,279 yards. You don't get that type of number AND throw for over 4k yards without having a decent intermediate game with some long throws as well.

He was ranked 5th in the NFL with "yards lost due to drops" at 299 yards.

I think tannehill needs to get rid of the ball quicker. Throw it away and not stand there and wait to be sacked.

It seems he just can't find the way to do it.

A lot of times he has a lot of time, nobody is open. And he just sits there waiting to get sacked.

Maybe this is a reason his completion percentage is so high.

You mean the 8 times he did that inflated his 392 completions and 66.4% completion percentage? Let's get back to reality, shall we?

I mean, even if he did that 20 times, his completion percentage only drops to 63%.

8 Times?

Wrong!

Make that 180 times.

It seemed anyways....Every game the same thing.
