What can he offer though except handshakes to the " Minority Owners?" I suppose he will be good to have around on MNF dates up in the bar lounge suite, but seriously how will he make this team better? Role model kind of went out the window when his Teenage Love child was found. Sorry.....I idolized #13 and have a small shrine in my den , but speaking on the here and now , how does he make the current team a contender?

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Is he too old to play? eye rolling smiley

Perhaps he can work as a QB consultant or assistant QB coach. Perhaps, as assistant Personnel Director? How about assistant HC and scout? I'd find a role for him. He's a Dolphins fan too.

I'd rather see him on stage talking about the team and upcoming prospects in the Miami draft rather than the head coach (who I find to be a bore).

Who better than to coach the qbs....A hall of famer.

TCPF marino can have a huge impact on tannehill development.

I can't think of noone better to tutor tannehill.

I'm with TCPF, what does he bring? Hell, he got beat out by Boomer on CBS and, to be blunt, he bailed on us one time already.
If he could help to land a new coach I'd be all over it.

What he gonna do ? Hit on his wife? Its a known fact just because you were great once , does not make you a great teacher. Marino never appeared to be a man with a lot of patience . He has never done any kind of personnel work . If anything the Team could have used him when they were trying to get Tax money for the stadium and other PR matters, but again , just being realistic, How does #13 make this a better team today?

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

So whos the old fart we got coaching the qbs?

Guarantee you dan marino will be better than him....

Did our current qb coach even play qb in college? I hope he did....Maybe he is the reason tannehill hasnt even learned how to throw the deep ball yet.

It will help the team to have a guy in the front office who is connected to the community... Marino could sell the stadium upgrade deal in flash with his eyes closed no problem.. The problem with the organization is there is no local blood to interact with the local community... Plus I think Marino will be a smart consultant or advisor on the football side of the business as well...

How can you guarantee that? Because Dan can play catch with them? That old fart has been teaching for years while Dan Marino was sitting in a make up chair drinking latte on a TV set. What skills does he bring to help teach our current rooster? To Pick talent? Did he even have a good record picking teams to win or Lose on CBS Sports?

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

This a Agree on. PR wise he could sell Snow Plows and shovels in Miami.

I'm with TCPF. He'd be great at media relations, and help build the relationship with the community. As far as coaching, I'm not so sure about. It's pretty impossible to teach God-given talent like he had.

As much as I admire Marino for what he did as a QB for our beloved team, I can only see him as being the official glad-handing face of our franchise now.

You are SO wrong. Many Great NFL minds never played a down in the NFL. Many great teachers do so without hands on experience. It helps sure....but watching , evaluating, changing things is a whole new level of skill that many do not possess.

I play guitar and have a band. Its just for hobby. I play by ear, always have and never took a lesson in my life. I can't read music , I can just hear things and figure it out. Many times I'm approached by friends to teach their kids, of even them. I wouldn't know where to start. Not sure I have the patience either. Teaching is much more difficult then you think.

We have Trainers at the department that I'm in awe of. That's why Miami has failed season after season. Personnel. As much as I Fing Hate Rex Ryan.......that guy can Teach and motivate. He's gotten to the AFC Championship twice recently.

Maybe Dan Can do it. But something tells me if he could he would have the last 14 yrs since his retirement. Hell he's not even that great of a sports caster. he doesn't show great knowledge of the players, he doesn't offer advice on how Teams should win. Its very Vanilla reporting, the very reason he's not on HBO anymore, and he was passed over by Boomer at CBS.

Dan had the fastest release in football. He could scan the field and make a decision to throw quicker then anyone to ever play the game. How do you teach that? Answer: YOU CAN'T. Otherwise he would be the #1 wanted person in the league.

I just don't see what he offers us on the Football side of things.

But again he could be very attractive on the PR side , something Ross is seriously lacking.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

LOL at the notion that Dan Marino would join the Dolphins as a coach in ANY way, shape or form. The only he starts working for the phins is as some sort of PR person or as a "president" of some made up figure head position.

What did Elway have to offer...what experience did he have?

Turned out pretty well for Denver.

Not saying the same could happen with Dan and the Dolphins, but...

Elway committed to Denver when the oppurtunity was presented to him. Marino bailed on a cold day in Mobile Al. I don't see him as a GM, or coach but I agree he would be hell as a PR guy. I would rather sit across a table w/ him than Ross or Philbin.

Sorry TCPF i disagree. Marino would make a great motivator teacher IMO.

I hope they give him a shot.

Nobody better than someone that has gone throught it.

The scrub QB coach we have isnt doing a thing for tanehill...

I wouldn't give Dan a position of control over personnel, he hasn't earned it. And after quitting last time, he is going to have to earn a Job like that.

But I'd be more than happy to find him a spot on the payroll. Its always good to have a former great like him around the team.

Elway owned his own Indoor Football team. He has a past history in the business side of things and worked his way up.

Dan has been behind a camera the last 14 yrs. See the difference?

Fair enough , your entitled to your Opinion. But What do you base it on? I gave you specific examples as to why I feel that way.

Is it a blind hunch because you really like the guy? I know you are a gambler and like to make longshots, but those of us that don't like to gamble appreciate facts.

I base it on the experience he had as a qb. The times he was in the line of fire. The pressure he felt. Imo he can be a good teacher thats all.

I think you can be a better teacher if youve been through it.

thats what i think.

Fair enough. But If Marino had teaching skills (completely different from playing ) don't you think he would have done just that the last 14 yrs? Also , Have any of his back ups during his 17 career went on to any greatness? eye rolling smiley I am a Marino Devotee. I pray at the alter of #13. I think he will do the Franchise well on a business level. Just don't see him contributing coaching wise ever. If he had it in him he would have done so already. he has a great profile though!

T we will never know if he nevers gets the job as QB coach. We will not know either way.

I would like to have him involved with this team in anyway we can.

I hear you. It helps from the rest of the bad PR we have had lately too. But I'm just saying , he will have nothing to do with Tannehill except for maybe some PR footage and a catch.

I think Marino would be great for the football side of operations as well, I agree that he doesn't deserve control over personnel at this point. However I think he would be a great guy for the locker room, and for the players and fans to get behind. I think his presence alone would be a great influence on the team and fan base...

Bob Griese was known as being the brainest quarterback ever. He known as the computer on the field.

That was his particular talent. But he couldn't TEACH IT.

If Bob Griese couldn't teach any other quarterback how to think and analyze on the field AS GOOD AS HE COULD, and that's all knowledge and learning, a talent that Griese had but couldn't teach, how can Dan Marino teach his quick release and his deadly throwing, which is all physical, SamSam?

SamSam, do you get what I'm saying?
