Poll
Who wins in week 3?
Only registered users are allowed to vote for this poll.
19 votes were received.
Miami 19

100%
Atlanta 0

0%

Falcon have the 27th ranked defense.

29th in pass defense (346 ypg) and 8th in rush defense (73.5 ypg)

They are 6th is passing offense (318 ypg) and 26 in rushing offense (62 ypg).

Steven Jackson injured his thigh and left the game yesterday.

The Saints defense were able to shut down the Atlanta offense but hey were struggling with two injured WR's. Jones seems to be healthier now but White is coming along slower.

Ryan has been sacked 5 times while the Falcon defense has only 2 on the year.

"Our linemen are punks," one frustrated Falcons player told NFL Media columnist Michael Silver this week.

Ryan is also completing 71.6% of his passes with 4 td and 1 int.

Tyson Clabo would have been facing Kroy Biermann at DE this week but he was carried off the field on a cart this week. His backup is Cliff Mathews. Surely Clabo can handle either if these former teammates.

Jon Martin faces Osi Umenyiora who had a pick 6 on Sam Bradford this week.

The Falcons are struggling with injuries right now. Sean Witherspoon was also injured but not sure oif his status.

Cam Wake will face Lamar Holmes at RT while the other guys face Sam Baker. We should be able to get more pressure without blitzes this week.

Two of Atlant's top 3 CB's are rookies. Desmond Trufant and Robert Alford. Asante Samuel is the #1.

Atlanta is averaging .5 more points per game than Miami. 24-23.5.

They have 1 net point and have given up 23.75 points per game. Miami has given up 15 ppg.

I wish I could go to the opener but I don't see it happening. It is a 4:05 pm game.

Prediction: Miami 28 Atlanta 24

Grimes gets another pick this week.

It seems to be a winnable matchup.

Getting Ryan on the ground should be a lot easier and we can definitely get some pressure on him and force so ints.

if we play solid efficient O and get the running game going -- we should win. But of course we'll have to see...

I'm into the D dominating and putting on a show!

I feel alot better about this game then I did 2 weeks ago, we have two decided advantages going this weekend IMO;

1. Grimes and Clabo should have some serious intel to share about both sides of the ball, and

2. The late game heat should help the home team out a little, I know Atlanta is hot also, but they do play in a dome. Hopefully it's enough to go 3-0

We may just pull this out because it's a home game. I have a feeling we wouldn't if it was in Atlanta.

I don't think Atlanta outclasses the team we have on the field at this point.

If Thill plays BIG and the D does there nasty -- we can beat the Falcons at home or on the road. We can only hope we play "better" at home because that has not been a given in recent years...

Wow. 6-0 for a win.

One of the best parts about winning is fewer jets and bills fans in the stadium. Especially if they are struggling.

Tyson Clabo is rated 54 of the 67 offensive tackles. Jonathan Martin is rated No. 42 but did not receive a negative rating this week. John Jerry rated a -1.2 vs the Colts and had the only negative rating in week 2.

For Atlanta Sam Baker is rated 67th among all the tackles (last). Right tackle Lamar Holmes is rated 62nd.

Tannehill is ranked 4th by PFF behind only Manning, Rodgers and Rivers.

Olivier Vernon rated -6.0 vs the Colts and Cameron Wake rated -3.1. That has to be one of the lowest ratings ever for Wake.

There really isn't much difference in FL between 1 and 6 pm. For instance, today its 81 at 4pm and 82 at 7pm.

It's plenty hot a 4pm. The problem is 4pm is prime time for the daily thunderstorm.

As a kid watching games in the Orange Bowl, I noticed a difference. If not in the temperature, at least in the direct sun beating down.

Kids don't pay attention to weather....smiling smiley

Looks like we're catching a break, Steven Jackson is probably out, and one of their top DE's (his name is escaping me) is out.

When the schedule came out I had this as a sure loss. As it stands now, with the Falcons injuries and struggles running the ball, AND our defense playing lights out...I don't see why this can't be a win with a 2 score+ margin of victory...ok, I probably just cursed us.

Lots of faith coming into this week. Players should be pumped up for this home opener. I wish I lived in Fla, I'd be there to support the team in person.

Feels good to have a 2-0 start. Even with issues, they've managed to overcome and put together wins. Key will be to put pressure on Matt Ryan & make him throw sooner than he wants...the boy can play.

Wow....Atlanta without their starting RB, DE on IR, FB on IR, a gimpy Roddy White and two struggling offensive tackles.

Sean Witherspoon (OLcool smiley is out and on short term IR.

Asante Samuel has a thigh injury...status unknown.

This is a "statement" game.

Last week was one of those games that you need to win to show you've improved and are no longer mediocre.

This week we get one of the top teams in the league in our building. Win this game and we put the league on notice that Miami is a legit contender for the AFC East, and in the AFC overall.

and beyond that we need the confidence before we go to N.O.

We may be without Paul Soliai and Chris Clemens.

Soliai is the 7th ranked DT in the league while Starks is the 5th!

Losing Clemens will hurt as he is pobably best suited to cover Gonzales.

Not as many as "kids these days" that's for sure. Probably mostly because NFL wasn't as flexible back then, but also Joe Robbie wasn't into making the stadium experience comfortable for the visiting team.

Sometimes when a west coast team would come to town they'd have a 4PM game, but it wasn't too often. ALmost always at 1:00 and blistering hot as hell.

I went to a few 4 pm games when dan played....and 1 pm games as well when dan played...

Hot as hell........I used to drink a 32 ounce diet coke.....at the beginning of game......Until close to the second quarter....When i was thru drinking it.....i had anotherone.....I had like 3 before the third quarter....

When i drank all 3.....the 4th quarter started.....and just a few minutes into the 4th quarter i was dehYdrating again...

Its unbelibebly hot. You have to experience it to understand it.

OH and dont go with someone that doesnt know whats happening in the game either....

I used to go with my wife....

WIFE: Whats happening papi?

Me: They just scored a TD..

3 minutes after...

Wife: Papi why did they fell to the ground?

ME: Its called a tackle mami

1 minute after..

Wife: Papi why did they hit the guy with the ball?

Me: Its called a sack mami? Please stop it.

____________________________________________________________

And she kept on going until the end of the game driving me crazy..

So ..........

Never go to the stadium with someone that doesn't know squat about football....you will not have a good time.

It would be just our luck that we would lose this game which we should win AFTER we won one we were predicted to lose against Indy.

24-16 Miami...Teams are fairly even, but Falcons have a ton of injuries and have to play on the road and away from their dome.

My opinion has changed after seeing us improve with the running game last week. Certainly, the catches by Clay and Wallace also effect my perception of how the team is progressing, strengthening, for future opponents. With that said, it's very possible that we will make even bigger strides offensively against the Falcons. My biggest concern this week is what effect there will be if Soliai doesn't play and secondly, why Vernon hasn't improved as a pass rusher. Perhaps Dion Jordan will see more action.

The Falcons are not 100% healthy, nor are we. Bench strength comes into play again for both side.

The time of the game is 4 pm. I agree that the temperature at that time of day isn't much different than at 1 pm. And again I agree, it's the time for our daily thunderstorms. Whether it makes any difference on how the game is played is anyone's guess.

The only thing that scares me is the passing attack of Atlanta. Lots of weapons even if they are dinged. Our pass rush will be key and is probably the biggest mismatch of the game. Their tackles are not playing well.

18-0 on the game picks....we are not homers...lol

Before the season I had this as a loss.

But with the way we've played, and with the injuries they are dealing with, this is a very winnable game.

Win the turn over battle, and rush the passer like we did in Cleveland and we will win.
