This is also going to be a snapshot of life without Paul Soliai. Now we have our best 3-technique player (Starks) playing the 1-technique (NT)...and Odrick playing the 3-technique. We are 45 lbs lighter on the line.
The falcons may take advantage of the fact that we only have 2 DT's and run the ball often. Especially later in the game when they are getting tired.
Typically I would think Atlanta would pass more because it is next to impossible to run on this defense...and that is their strength without a true HB.
If they are forced to pass often, it will play to the strength of our defense since we can run our speed package or a nickle since Solia sits in that situation anyway.
One cure is for us to play with a big lead. I don't have a problem with that!
I think we can mix and match our athletes along the DL to offset (at least for a game or 2) the loss of Big Paul.
Starks is a very strong man and Odrick is a brute as well. Add the insertion of Vaughn Martin and maybe Shelby kicking inside on passing downs and we should get sufficient blow for the group.
Of course we're much better off with Big Paul in the mix -- but (as we all know) we're also quite deep on the DL so the loss is softened somewhat.
I think the DEs have to play BIG in this game and get lots of pressure and force Ryan into bad throws and get him out of his rhythm in general. Add some timely blitzes (up the middle) and we could present some serious difficulties for the birds offense -- reducing it to a dying quail (DQ) or stumbling albatross (SA).

Yeah, Atlanta's WRs are dinged, but evidently not enough to prevent them from playing. How dinged they truly are no one knows, but...I believe they will be close to 100% and the injuries will have no affect on them. We must also remember that Patterson is also dinged, as is a couple more of our DBs. That, along with Soliai being out, could hurt Miami's chances. Yeah, I know, Starks will do just fine, but Ryan is a very good QB and will surely take advantage of Miami's woes.
If our guys were all healthy, I would give Miami the edge, but with these injuries....
Patterson is most likely out again this week but I have to give props to my usual whipping boy, Nolan Carroll. He has played great so far this year. Chris Clemons is another that has played well (although he did drop an int).
The play I've most been surprise by is that of Reshad Jones. Looks like he got complacent after the big contract. better pick it up. He no longer looks like our best DB through 2 games anyway.
Still not thrilled with Little Jimmy but he hasn't sucked.
Grimes is money but will be tested against his former teammate, Julio.
Looks like Will Davis and Jamar Taylor are back at practice. I'll be curious to see if either are active this week. I'd give the edge to Willy boy or whoever can play ST's.
Speaking of ST's...they have been great as well this year. Not much in the return game outside of a few nice runs last week but coverage has been exceptional. I remember at least two kicks that were returned (good job Caleb) the tackles were made around the 15. That's nice work and they haven't allowed any long returns. It's a sure sign our depth is better.

One more injury of note for the already decimated Falcons: T Sam Baker has been declared out of Sunday's game vs. the #Dolphins.
Yo "The Spoof," and that's your name from here on out btw -- this is obviously a positive development for us my yammie dolphin fans -- and more specifically for Mr. Wake.

I expect this on the San Francisco injury list, but Miami?

Graham is a matchup nightmare for just about everyone.
Dion Jordan used to cover outside receivers in college. He's got skills.
Put him on Jimmy Graham. If we can shut him down and we can put Grimes on Colston then we control the game. Not every play but mix things up. Would be a lot easier if Wake was on the field.
