Why would we trade for Reggie Wayne, when he was a FA this offseason and we could have signed him... that doesnt sound right.... plus in Irsay's tweet I thought he said something about giving up a high draft pick in the trade...

Yup!

Are you saying that Ireland doesn't draft to the level of the round? Because that sure is what that seems like.
Maybe someone will do me the service of quoting this post of mine so that THE Truth, who has blocked me, can read it and justify this move on the part of Ireland.
Looks like I'll be rooting for the nfl version of the Miami hurricanes this year in the ravens.
I can't stand even thinking about this sorry ass organization this year. Everytime I'm surprised at the stupidity of a move, another one comes right behind it to top it, with no redemptions mixed in at all.
I'd be shocked to see Reggie bush make it thru the year without being traded at this point as well.
Davis had talent. Can't say I'm happy with this move. One thing I wonder is how much scheme had to do with this move. Vontae is at his best in a zone heavy scheme. However, we are moving to a press man scheme, where, apparently, Sean Smith has been doing very well. Perhaps Vontae wasn't a great fit and so we got value from someone we likely would have parted ways with eventually.
Him being in the last year of his contract as well as him getting beat out by Caroll and Marshall played parts in making him expendible I'm sure...add to that the fact that Smith has been playing much, much, better.
Yeah berk, 2 years left. The timing of this deal is what drives me crazy. Are we sure his value wouldn't be higher after this season, I mean he did just get chastised on national television about showing up out of shape and struggling in camp.

Correct guys, he was signed through 2013. I could have sworn I read that he was in his final year and was unlikely to be brought back...not sure where that thought came from. Maybe they have players in mind already and want the second round pick to ensure we get who we are after...who knows what the real reasons are.
All we do know is that he was getting out played by Carroll, Marshall, and Smith...and Wilson has been reportedly covering well from the Saftey position to boot. He was kind of the odd man out.
Philbin wants to run a taught ship. I'm not surprised that Vontae was traded. I suspect that another fellow who has not proven himself this preseason is at risk for a trade. F-A-S-A-N-O.
I read that Terrell Owens was released by Seattle--maybe the Fins should take a look at him--even at age 38. He's got to be a bit more humble now. Maybe he could catch a few passes here and there just so we have a little something to cheer for during a game. All the other receivers (except Bess and Hartline) are pretty lousy. Our youthful QB is going to be really frustrated unless the Fins can come up with another sure-handed receiver.
