FYI- Tannehill did well, playing the with number one offense going against the number 2 defense. Tannehill never faced the number 1 defense at all during the scrimmage, yet he got to play with the number 1 offense...Matt Moore had the challenge of taking the number 2 offense against the number 1 defense.

that being said I am happy for him, but who did well in the scrimmage was largely related to what defense they went up against..

I can't say that is a surprise. This is exactly how to build the confidence of a rookie QB. The coaching staff is grooming him.

This makes sense. Matt Moore will be the scout team QB, and he will have this kind of fun all season long.

i wonder what is the thinking in playing the #1s vs the #2s all the time today? is it a confidence building thing (for the #1s, that it?). seems very odd.

During the season, this would be the scout defense.

Being pre-season, the offense is new, and the QB a rookie. I think it allows the team and Tannehill to develop against a learning curve. It allow may give a chance for second team defenders to make a move on the depth chart.

I like that they gave Tannehill reps with the first team. They obviously want the Gerrard to get the most quality time against the first string defense.

This all makes sense. Philbin is a smart dude.

Well if Matt Moore, could have taken the 2's down the field consistently, against the number 1 defense, then he is your guy.. lol... didnt happen....
I agree with Dolfanking, that today was setup to build confidence for Tannehill, and he stepped up to the challenge...
But having the number 1 WR's, 1's oline, going against back up defense, is most likely a totally different world then he would ever face in a regular season NFL game... But hey, now he feels he can do it, and that is half the battle... Interesting to see how the progression goes with him going up against the number 1 defense.

i thought at no time did the 1s play the 1s today?

i agree i am very impressed with philbin so far. he seems very smart and innovative. i remember cam cameron did so many things that made me think he was going to be so horrible. the most insane was coaching the last preseason game from the pressbox and letting his assistants (both who had more HC experience than him) practice being HC in case he had to miss a game for some reason. no such nonsense is apparent from phlibin. he actually seems pretty funny, too.

Funny thing is, the other that have said that have been civil to me.

So who do I believe - the people that are civil, or the people that follow me around and accuse me of things they know nothing about?

Sorry I haven't dropped it. You should have thought about that before you started trolling in the first place.

You like to deflect blame a lot, don't you?

You've accepted it and thrown it out there several times after even they admitted they had it wrong or have just let it go.

Seems like its your baby now.

That's only because they hate me so much. Give it time. You'll get under their skin soon enough. We'll probably end up as BFF's when that happens.

No need to apologize. You go right on whining about it all you want. Doesn't bother me in the least. Makes you look a bit insecure and hypocritical for laying the wood to other posters and whining about the same when it comes your way but hey...to each his own...knock yourself out.

Let me predict you next response a one of these six:

1. Accuse me of have a secret agenda to take down the team through sparsely populated message boards.
2. eye rolling smiley
3. Accuse me of hating Tannehill, the Team, other Posters.
4. Accuse me of continuing bringing up that you said I had a secret identity.
5, Accuse me of having a secret identity.
6. Deny everything.

Your posts are trying, quite a bore, and have nothing to do with football. Quit responding to every post I make. It makes you look like a sad, lonely puppy dog.

If you hadn't included the eye rolling smiley as # 2 and the words "accuse me of" I'd have thought you accidentally posted your TO DO LIST for the week.

The way some of these discussions are going, I hope you don't wish for poor eyesight again so you don't have to read all the crap.

*******************************************************

I think all Finfans that have been with this team for a good period of time, do feel strongly about the team's poor performance(s) over a long period (especially for those of us who were used to winning Miami football) and keep a close eye on what our brass is doing with this football team.

Regarding your last statement in your first paragraph, I'm not sure how you can judge this regime. Parcells is gone and Ireland now has full control over personnel moves. This is a new coaching staff with new philosophies. Parcells had the reigns; now they all have a voice in what to and what not to, decide on in regards to personnel. Give this regime 2-3 years to see what happens before we condemn them for what has happened in the past. If this team is still going nowhere, then I am right with you in burning them at the stake (including Ross).

Miami needed a franchise QB, no questions asked. Ireland did the best he could to do just that. He is betting his career that Tanneyhill is that guy. We will soon find out. Moore played well, but this is a different system than he is used to. They bring in Gerrard who is familiar with it and is a stop-gap until (hopefully) Tanney is ready to take over. We have to wait.

Hard to say if Miami is going in the right direction or not. We will only know that at the end of this season. Miami plays well and wins ball games, then more than likely the FO is doing the right things.

A "fan" is someone who supports his/her team, no matter what. I have been extremely happy with them and I have also been disgusted with them, but I am still here and always will be. We are all on this board talking Dolphins football, so I consider all of us fans.

I disagree. I think we can look at what has been done over the past couple of years and begin to get an idea of where this is headed.

I'm sick of waiting 2-3 years. I think its clear where Ross is coming from. I have seen nothing from Ireland that makes me think he will fix anything,

> Miami needed a franchise QB, no questions asked.

That is not true. Dalton was available last year, and, instead, we took a Center at #15. A CENTER!

> He is betting his career that Tanneyhill is that guy.

He is saving his career for another year or two. The only reason he picked Tanney is because he would have been run out of town on a rail if he didn't pick a QB.

> They bring in Gerrard who is familiar with it and

I like the Gerrard signing a lot. But it was not Irelands first choice. This causes me to wonder what he is thinking.

Gerrard is an upgrade over Moore and Henne. He's a much better choice than Peyton who is an old, expensive primadonna. And they seriously looked at Matt Flynn ?!?!?

> Hard to say if Miami is going in the right

Not from where I stand.

>

Different people support their teams in different ways. Some think it is to be blind to all the faults. Others want the team to get better and complain when they don't. I think it is arrogant to claim one method is better than others.

Samsam,

it means My Hovercraft if full of eels!

eesti was quoting a skit from an old british tv show called "Monty Python's Flying Circus" A hungarian guy walks into an English tobacco shop with a hungarian-to-English dictionary--only it doesn't work very well for him, because instead of asking for cigarettes he says "My hovercraft is full of eels" Then he ends up asking to fondle the guy's rear end, says some more obscene stuff by accident, and gets hauled away from the cops. As he is getting dragged away in one last attempt to communicate his innocence, he yells: "MY NIPPLES EXPLODE WITH DELIGHT!"

They don't make TV like that anymore lol
