Brees vs the Saints

I heard a report from ESPN's John Clayton this AM that the Saints and Drew Brees are only about $1M apart and the negotiations have slowed down.

$1M? Give me a break! As much as I hate the amount of $'s being thrown around in sports and entertainment, it is what it is. Come on Drew -- how much is enough? On the other hand, what's up with the Saints? Your best player and the guy you need on the field, especially now, and you are going to let $1M get in the way?

That's the problem with sports, nowadays. So much money being thrown around that no one knows when to stop. Does any of these sports figures (including management)stop to think about the economy? Who is it that pays those bills?

It gets to be a pride thing at this point and ridiculous.

Saints have a lot of issues this year, and having Brees out doesn't help the new guys, but its not like he doesn't have the offense down to a T either.

And as to your closing question? no they doen't stop to think about the economy or any of us poor stiffs trying to make the games, else they would cap the stadium costs and get the revenue from the TV shares. (it is unfortunately an I, Me, My attitude that prevails in sports these days)
