Crowder, don't you see it is pointless to argue with "THE Truth" (laugh, laugh) in criticizing the moves of our front office in recent years???????

Let me take you through a simple logical point by point reason why.

1. They are dumb.

2. He is dumb.

3. ergo, what seems smart to dumb people is dumb in reality.

4. ergo, He will defend any stupid move by dumb people because to him it is smart.

that is why .......

That story is true, but that was already talked about/published before Casserly said anything.

None of us on this board know for sure what went on behind those draft doors, but a good educated guess would be that Parcells was the guy making the decisions, with input from Ireland (since he pretty much did the leg work).

Parcells is a control freak, we all know that, and he will admit to it. Just listen to him whenever he talks, now and when he was coaching. He had to be the decision-maker.

So, with his name on the Miami Dolphins, do you honestly think he is going to let anyone but him be the final voice? I highly doubt it.

The Pat White pick was just one pick that hit the airwaves.

As I and a few others here have already said, it is best to judge Ireland on the last two drafts and any others that come up, not while Parcells was in charge.

RESPONSE: Upon what do you base that I assert that I am "smarter than everyone else."

If you can't provide evidence I'll just assume you have an inferiority complex.

RESPONSE: I stated that Cutler was joking. If it HAD BEEN a legitimate article, that would have been the case.

The ONLY THING I MISSED was that the article was from the "Onion." Another poster pointed out that the Onion is famous for spoofing events.

The Onion had a newstand in my office building and I am QUITE FAMILIAR WITH THEM, thank you.

Obviously you aren't and can't see the distinction between believing a player is giving a good natured ribbing to a co-player and former teammate as well and not picking up that the article was written by THE ONION.

Again, the only thing that makes it not an accurate quote of one player kidding another and an ARTICLE BY THE ONION was the single word Onion at the top of the article.

Yet, while you criticize my character, like a dog worrying a bone, you insist on dragging out this point,

but its only your inferiority complex shining through.

The article wasn't even real. Most

RESPONSE: No, they would just assume that the reporter and Cutler were having some fun.

This is exactly why he picked a QB in the first round. It doesn't matter that the QB is a second round talent. Ireland saved his cushy job for another two years because fans actually believe this nonsense.

i agree that quote nails the issue. we've drafted some duds, sure--every team does, though I'd say we seem to have more than our fair share in the 2d-4th rounds, by a long shot. the bigger problem is that I don't think we've ever drafted a player who way out performed where he was picked, or became a great player. Jake Long is great but he was #1 overall. Our other 1st rounders for the most part have been good but not great. and none of our late rounders have been anything special. bottom line is Ireland has not brought in any stars outside of Long, of whom nothing less should have been expected given his position and where he wwas taken.

And this quote is exactly why I think Ireland needs to go. He is too conservative. The Tannehill pick is just one in many where he picked a player that may have been available a round lower, just to get his guy.

I have not seen good drafting on this team since JJ (yea he whiffed on some first rounders - not all his fault). And, aside from Dansby, I haven't seen a single FA that makes a difference.

Now, I don't hate Ireland. I don't like Ross, but I think Ireland is symptomatic of the problem we have in Ross. Ross will never build us a winner, because he doesn't know what kind of GM it takes to build a winner.

Ireland would walk into a bar of 10s, and go home with an 8.

dolfan king, Rt may have been a reach at 8, and he may end up being a bad pick, but there's no way he'd have been available in he second

LOL. It's easy to make guarantees like that since there is no way to prove it.

One thing that is a little easier to assess is how talented he turns out to be which we will know soon enough.

According to DFK he is a reach and most likely a bust because of the 10-13 games he did not play at QB and because his TEAM did not win more games? Those are the only knocks on him which are all based on opinion and speculation about what he might do. You are certainly entitled to your opinion and I respect that.

There was another college QB who had only 27 starts in 5 years of college. He was injured in his 3rd year as a redshirt sophomore and didn't get the starting nod until the 3rd game of his 5th year.

He finished his college career with a 52% completion rate. He was 268/515 for 4121 yards, 26 td's and 25 int's.

By comparison Tannehill fisnished with a 62.5% comp rate. He was 484/774 for 5450 yards, 42 td's and 21 int's. He also had 15 rush/rec TD's and the experience that goes with that that most starting QB's never get.

Is the above mentioned guy more experienced because he played in 7 more games? Or is he less experienced because he threw 259 fewer passes? Is he as well rounded since he didn't play high level WR?

Anyone know who the above mentioned guy is?

What about a guy that goes 191/292 for 2,908 yards 30 tds/7 int's? That is 482 FEWER passes for 2542 FEWER yards? He also played 20 games at QB. Did that make him a lesser talent bc he only played in 20 games? That was Cam Newton who threw for over 4000 yards and had 30 TD's last yr as a rookie.

Yes he won bigger games and a national Championshil but he also had national championship caliber players surrounding him.

My point is that just because he hasn't done it yet won't mean he can't do it. That's my opinion.

Oh...the other guy was Joe Montana.

AS far as Ireland is concerned the article does nail it. He has added mediocre players and no stars. True.

He never really ventured into playmaking talent the way he did this year. QB, RB, WR, WR, TE etc...It may turn out to make his entire career just like one 6th round draft pick did for Bill Belichick.

Hey, anyone can do it. I'm not saying he can't. I'm just saying I'm not going to delude myself into thinking RT is a lock to be one of the greatest QBs ever, much less a long term starter with this team.

Like I say, let me know when he throws 3 4qtr TDs in the regualar season to win a game. Then I may be jumping on the bandwagon. But until then, hes just another one in the long line of Rookie QBs that have done NOTHING.

> Oh...the other guy was Joe Montana.

Seriously?!? Without playing one single NFL game, you are comparing RT to Montana?!?

Its this kind of ridiculous logic that makes the rest of the country laugh at us Dolphins fans. Take off the orange and aqua glasses for a minute and realize that Tannehill has done nothing. NOTHING.

BTW - Montana was drafted in the 3rd round. Which is kind of why I criticized this pick.

The logic you zealots use is ridiculous:
Joe Montana didn't have much college experience. He was a risk and he turned out great. Tannehill is just as risky, but since Joe Montana worked out so great we should spend a first round pick, even though Montana was picked in the third round. Yea, that all makes 100% sense. Not.

Smoke some more my friend.... Maybe you'll start getting paranoid and think this is all a conspiracy too.
