“He’s a smart kid, got a great arm,” tight end Anthony Fasano said. “He really anticipates where the opening’s going to be and where the open receiver will be.
“He’s a lot further along than any rookie quarterback that I’ve seen.”
edit--nevermind I see it was from fasano. take it with a great of salt. if it was from peter king or some independent observer I'd get more excited about it

well fasano has only seen those few rookie qbs he's played with, and is obviously biased. a neutral 3d party who's seen 100s of rookie QBs I'd believe more

Wonderful. This is the key to figuring out my point....
Rather than have this spiral into a tedious, petty abyss that ends in bogus accusations and conspiracy theories, I'll say that I actually hope the kid proves all the starry eyed fans that he was worthy of the top ten pick.
Sarcasm duly noted but Pat White wasn't a QB was he?
Besides he said he was "further along". Not better than anyone.
"Better" implies being more successful. For someone who has never played a game who has had no success, he couldn't be better because he is unproven.
"Further along" implies he is more NFL ready. Further than Chad Henne. You know. The very experienced 4 year starter with 45 career starts and Bowl victories over over Florida and Texas. MVP of the win over Florida. A true second rounder.
So I guess he implied that Ryan was further along than Chad Henne.
Pretty big statement for a guy with only 19 college starts. Wow.
I wonder if Ozzie Newsome thinks that Joe Flacco was a reach? I mean he only started for two years but he did play for the powerhouse Delaware Blue Hens and still was chosen 18th.

To me, there's a GREAT deal of distance between "a bit over the top pro tannehill" and "the next Dan Marino"
Hell, I'm probably a bit over the top about Tannehill and no WAY am I equating him with Dan.

Well they though he was a QB.

Fasano didn't have much exposure to Henne in Henne's rookie year. Fasano was recovering from injury, and didn't play much until late in camp. By that time, Pennington was taking nearly all the first team snaps.
Point is - and as someone already pointed out - I don't think Fasano is an authority. Really, the only rookie QBs he's been exposed to early in camp were camp fodder and Pat White.
Yes oh bright one. It was sarcasm which DFK seemed to pick up on as he replied "well they thought he was a QB"... but was lost on you as usual.
I figured most people would get it since there is not a person on this board that doesn't know that obvious fact. If you really want to imply that I don't just go back and look at the several hundred post I commented on discussing Pat White and his ability to play QB.
I realize sarcasm is sometimes hard to pick up in text form but...wow.
Well then your sense of humor is awful dull as the original point of Dolfanking was that all you had proved was that Tannehill could be just no more than Pat White.
So you reply, you now tell us, that you know Pat White was not a good quarterback.
In other words, you were bumping glasses with him then right.....
But you were arguing with him and trying to suggest that Tannehill was good........
so in order to make you point, you agree that Tannehill could be no better than Pat White
So let's just settle with you were trying to be cute and came off being stupid.
I totally agree about the Colombo acquisition, but I blame our resident "o-line guru", Sparano, not Ireland. Obviously, Sparano gave at least his tacit approval (this guy had played for him in Dallas, after all), and probably much more. After Colombo showed up, Sparano didn't have to play him at all, and certainly not the whole season. The GM gets the pieces, the HC decides how (or IF) he wants to use those pieces. This is on Sparano.
i love how about midway thru the season when it was apparent to everyone that columbo was playing like one of the worst olineman in HISTORY sporano said he was playing well

Your boy Omar talked about that the other day. Said words. To the effect that Sporano was a guy who coached by always having his players back. That he would lie, exaggerate or withhold information to protect his players.
The players loved it but after a while it affected his credibility with the media.
Also said Philbin is the opposite. Brutally honest with the players and media.

Thank JC....I guess you know me by now...Unlike others.
We drafted a lefty QB once....for usc i think...it was a long time ago.....I went to practice a few times that year and saw this guy and he looked like he had a bubble gum for an arm.
There was never anything positive said about this guy...He did not make the roster and never played for any team...
Have to give props to Ireland for when he gets one right.....
Javorskie Lane (starting F undrafted
Josh Samuda (2nd team C) undrafted
Derrick Shelby (2nd team DE)
Chris Hogan & Jeff Fuller (status unknow) undrafted
The first 3 listed will most likely stick on the 53 man....and probably one of the WR's.

Dude....we need 53 players on the team. If need be I could grab 53 guys from this message board and call it an nfl "team." the fact that we have to stock with undrafted scrubs does not make Ireland a good GM. Show me some good PLAYERS
