We are not so badly managed!

3 teams in question:

1) Cleveland getting duped by minnesota gm to move up 1 spot and trade away a crap load of picks to get a running back!
Spielman learned his lesson, and dished out a taste of his own medicine...recall how he got duped by new England to move up a spot to select Vernon Carey, when NE always had intended to take wilfork...
Personally, if I were a cleveland fan...I would simply shake my head in disbelief.

2) jags selecting a fricken PUNTER in round three. Mularkey,,,that meat head, admitted on sirius radio today, that things didn't go right for them in round 3,They panicked cuz they were running out of time, and selected a punter!
Who's selects a punter in round 3?
That franchise had some serious issues!

3) SF selecting a wr in round one that probably wasnt a 1st or secound round projection....
They could of got their guy in round two or three easily....

It's not totally unheard of. Ray Guy was drafted by the Raiders in the FIRST round in 1973. And as much as I have always despised the Raiders, it was a good pick for them. Guy was one of the best punters of all time.

I believe the Redskins did pretty poorly overall, maybe with the exception but possibly including RG3...Weak early round draft for them.

I admire the redskins for choosing a second qb... If rg3 gets hurt or is not the real deal, they have a second option...

Cousins has great potential!

Yes, there are teams that are poorly managed.

Can't put the current San Francisco 49er team.
GREAT new coach
ONE glaring need, WR (returning entire record setting defense).
PLUS added to veteran free agents.
Plus their own version of Lamar Miller
PLUS new stadium

There is a bunch of buzz and fan-love

Why not pick a QB with every pick? Heck, just carry 7 or 8 of them on your roster. Then you never have to worry about injury!! drinking smiley

The Niners reached on need in round one, and so their management sucks?

Seems to me they did exactly the same thing the Phins did, except for hiring Jim Harbaugh and nearly going to the Super Bowl.

No mention of Seattle? Pete Carroll could turn out to be a genius I guess but it sure looks like he is heading down the same road he traveled back from 1997 to 1999. Nowhere.

He sure bungled the Charlie Whitehurst experiment.

2012 draft....

1 15 15 Bruce Irvin DE West Virginia
2 15 47 Bobby Wagner LB Utah State
3 12 75 Russell Wilson QB Wisconsin
4 11 106 Robert Turbin RB Utah State
4 19 114 Jaye Howard DT Florida
5 19 154 Korey Toomer LB Idaho
6 2 172 Jeremy Lane DB Northwestern State (LA)
6 11 181 Winston Guy DB Kentucky
7 18 225 J R Sweezy DE North Carolina State
7 25 232 Greg Scruggs

two DE's two LB's and two DB's.

I can't fault the 49ers for taking AJ Jenkins at 30. None of the WR's came off the board the way most thought with the exception of the top two or three. Brian Quick was taken right after Jenkins while Stephen Hill and Rueben Randle were still on the board. Besides, the 49ers seem to be a team that has turned the corner.

As far as the Jags...I don't care if he is the next Ray Guy, I would never draft a punter or kicker above the 6th round. We have two of the best and they required a total of a 7th round pick.

Especially for a lousy team like the jags. They had way too many holes to fill to be messing around with a punter or trading up for a WR. it's not like they were the Packers or Giants and only needed a few players.

They passed on some talented skill positions to get Anger and I will be shocked if the DE from Clemson in round 2 amounts to much.

Like Seattle, the Jags reached for a player that they could have gotten two to three rounds later.

Makes me happy to be a Dolphin fan again.

I agree with you on Seattle, eesti. They seem like they are going down the tubes with old Pete. In fact you can almost predict from this draft and free agency period which teams will be stronger in the coming years, and which will flame out... Here is my take:

MIA +
NE +
BUF +
NYJ -

NYG +
WAS -
PHI +
DAL -

PIT +
BAL +
CIN +
CLE -

GB +
DET +
CHI -
MIN +

HOU -
TEN +
JAX -
IND +

NO -
ATL -
CAR +
TB +

DEN -
OAK -
KC -
SD +

SF -
ARI +
SEA -
STL -

Maybe that was the point. If you don't have any weapons, and you don't feel your team can sustain much offense, a good punter can be a field position weapon. Kind of pathetic to have to rely on a punter as a primary weapon, but I have seen games where an inferior team beat a superior one by consistently winning the field position battle. If you have watched the Dolphins the last few years, so have you.
