I really love Sporano's fire and intensity. I think it's really good for this young team, and amps up the vets too.

That being said, after Carpenter flubbed the squibb kick, do you think Sporano's verbal thrashing on the sideline got Carpenter thinking too much that it affected his missed 48 yd attempt?

No I don't think so. He was due to miss one and it wasn't that far off.

If he missed a 28 yarder, I'd say maybe...but 48 is LONG. How many kickers can make a kick like that consistently day in and day out?

The bright side of missing a non-essential, long FG attempt (if there *is*a bright side) is that he no longer has a streak going. He had hit what, 12 or 13 in a row? Now when he has a FG attempt he doesn't have it in the back of his mind that he has a streak going and just concentrate on the kick at hand, not how many he's made in a row.

The streak ended at 14.

Good point though. The streak is no longer on his mind.

I love firey coaches like Sparano and Cowher. Like when Cowher almost tackled the defender from the sideline after an interception.

Sparano will win coach of the year. Best coach in the NFL right now.

Sparano should, but I would bet on Jeff Fisher winning it.

Atlanta's coach should be in the running too.

My vote is for Sparano but Harbaugh and Smith will give him a run for his money. It all depends on who does better in December. So far Miami and Baltimore have one win vs Atlanta's one loss in December. Edge goes to Miami due to greater improvement. Miamis went from 1 win to eight so far. Baltimore went from 5 to 9. 7 game improvement to a 4 game improvement.

Prior to that Miami had only 6 wins (2006) to Baltimore's 13 wins.

We had a lot farther to go.

I think if we make the playoffs then Sparano has a chance. But, if we dont and Atlanta does....Mike Smith wins.

Can you say "one year wonder"? Sparano and Switzer.
