I think they were Miller Lite and not Bud Light. Not that it really matters....I love a good TV commercial in general, but I don't drink either of those, or any national brands. Support your local independent brewery, fellas!! OH and does anybody remember the "Where's the Beef" commercial series with the older lady? I just remembered that I think she did a commercial with Butkus

He really was a 'don't make 'em like that anymore' player and human being. Married his high school sweetheart. Played in the town he grew up in for the team he grew up rooting for. Passed up offers from other teams for the home town discount. Despite his team never being a contender during his stint in Chicago, he played lights-out every game. Career cut short by injuries (only 7 or 8 years

I just heard that Dick Butkus died. Legendary player for the Chicago Bears. I actually got to see him play against the Phins once. It was an uneventful game for the bears (we beat the soundly) but it was also a bit of history to witness I suppose. Butkus played fiercely. He was a beast. Unfortunately for him, Chicago never posted a winning record when he was playing (I'm pretty sure of that wi

not quite the beginning of the AFL as we joined in 1966 but yeah this is NOT a new rivalry...at all. Now, if this were the 1980s and these sports-hole journalists were calling the Dolphins-Bills rivalry 'new' they'd at least PARTIALLY be correct in that we kicked the Bill's asses IN EVERY GAME during the ENTIRE decade of the 1970s. Can you picture that...if the year began with 197x and we play

I know a lot of people don't agree with what I'm about to say, but I personally would much rather lose big like we did today, than to lose in OT or by just one or two key plays. If this game would've been close, our players and coaches would have been likely to think "we are so close, we're doing everything right, we just need to make a couple tiny tweaks here and there". No. We

When tuning in on my tv, the Xfinity system has mini sports app which tells you which games are currently on, etc. It also shows scores and some stats. At the beginning of the game, a stat field caught my eye that I'd never noticed before. It was Strength of Schedule. According to the screen I was viewing, it said the Phins have a Strength of Schedule ranking of 32. the easiest schedule in

This almost brings back memories of the dolphins beating the patriots 52-0 in the orange bowl during the perfect season. Our backup QB (earl morrall) was the starter due to griese’s injury. So with a big lead they took out morrall and put in THIRD stringer Jim del Gaizo. Who proceeded to throw two TD passes despite having never thrown a pass in the NFL before that game. Another footno

I want to preface this by saying I am generally dismissive of the notion of "respect" around the league. Occasionally people will say "we need to be RESPECTED by other teams / sports writers / our opponent / around the league ) And generally, my reply is "no we don't" because I take great satisfaction when my team is underestimated and we end up winning a game or two

One thing that struck me with the running plays was how our RBs received handoffs about 5-7 yards behind the line of scrimmage, ran to the outside and waited for the holes to develop then wisely cut inside and got good yardage. I'm not used to that (but I would LOVE to get used to that). Each time our ball carrier got the ball that far back from LOS I thought 'oh crap, here's a five yard loss

Gotta say Van Ginkel hustles like nobody else. He harassed the pats. Busted his ass and iced the game for us.

Patriots touchdown achieved by cheating, in true patriots fashion. Receiver was engaged in blocking downfield, then caught the pass. Collinsworth even called them out on it.

Damon Huard went on to a long career (also two super bowl rings) after leaving the Phins as well. I know it happens to every team, but it sure seems to happen to us more than others. I wonder which football team has the most players to earn a SB ring AFTER leaving the team. We've gotta be in the top 5.

Why don't they call Jay Fiedler? He's from the area and probably still has his old Jets jersey.

The Dolphins posted a 'cinematic recap of the Chargers game. Can't post links, but if you search the phrase in caps below you should find it on Youtube. It has highlights, broadcast voiceover clips, and mic'd up audio of the phins motivating each other and celebrating. My favorite was Tyreek jawing with Coach Welker. I was also reminded how much of a nerd coach McDaniel sounds like during his

I don't wish for injuries either, but it is part of the game for sure and it's how the team responds to their injury that makes or breaks the season. Case in point (warning...old man story alert), the Phins 1972 undefeated season was mostly carried by our backup QB Earl Morrall. Not only did he start most of the games (and win them), but he had the longest run play from scrimmage for the year and

I hope I got his name right, the TV play-by-play guy from the game yesterday. I've heard his voice before and has always annoyed me. Now I can fairly say, whether during a play by the Chargers or by us....yeah he's annoying. He's trying to be Marv Albert on steroids (and I was never much of a marv albert fan either). Just call the game, buddy. Watching yesterday reminds me of when I used to

How does the old saying go? Any win on the road.... As was said, our D came through when it counted most. But they need to stop giving up big plays especially on the ground. We also need to stop committing turnovers--leave the mistakes to the other team. And speaking of which, how about SD committing pass interference on the hail mary play at the end of the first half. That allowed us to

Yeah I don't know what to expect either. The only outcome that would surprise me is if everything goes perfectly.
