We've had Griese and Marino. We need another GREAT QB badly. Even Marino, who was a better passer than Griese, couldn't do it alone without a good defense around him.
What you guys are recommending is get the great surrounding cast and then get the great QB. Nothing wrong with that reasoning EXCEPT it takes a long time to build the surrounding cast and in the meantime, great QBs are coming

Here is what I tried to post.
JC, read the above.
I am reposting it here to reply to your post in a different thread.
When I tried to copy it FOR THAT THREAD the blank out function came out.
Treasure is clearly saying that we should not use our very, very, very, very, FIRST pick on a QB unless it's Burrows, but not Fromm or any of the other QBs projected for the 1st round.

As he has long advocated, trade that high

Tanny is in a read option, Cap. 'nuff said.
As to our first pick in this draft, there is Burrows, Fromm, and Herbert.
We will at least be picking 4th, so could we miss out on all of them???? Not likely.
Treasure wouldn't pick a QB with our 1st rd pick to save his own life.

Cap, I am reminded of a Twilight zone or Hitchcock episode where the person keeps doing the same thing with a bad result and he or she keeps getting punished and he or she after the second punishment asks ,"Oh, Lord, How many times???" And the answer is "until we get it right."

I wouldn't pass on Burrows, Fromm, etc to waait to see whether Tua can even walk in 2020. We should use our top 5 first rd pick to grab one of them.

jlyell, I know you as a long time poster but one who has not posted in a long time.
Since you've been gone, we have picked up a poster who does not appreciate talking about drafting a quarterback, particularly not with our first pick.
Oh well, we'll see.

Welp......both we AND the Giants are 3-11
so that means we get the higher draft choice by virtue of head to head.

RG, Titans run an option offense. Tannehill went to Big Springs High School near Lubbock, Texas where they ALSO ran an option scheme.
Tannehill then went to Texas A & M, where they ran an option offense.
THEN, Tannehill came to us in 2011. We put him in a traditional Pro Set.
He had not played in the pocket unless he did in Jr. High or elementary school.
See now why he failed wi

When a person doesn't have the intellect to argue with someone, they usually do that,...go hide that is.
And we draft a QB because we don't know what Rosen can do, he's had a very small chance.
I like what he did with that chance but as I said many times, the quarterback is the engine of the modern pro football team. You can't operate the car without it.
There have been some examples

Sam,you're giving him too much credit, He just wants us to trade for Tannehill.
Look at the thread he recently created.

LOL
So TC is suggesting NOT ONLY that we pass on drafting a QB with our top three first round pick, but that we pass on that pick altogether thus passing on possibly the next Larry Little or the next Kim Bokamper Instead he wants to trade back into the latter part of the first round in exchange for additional fifth or SIXTH round picks.
LOL. Thanks for being honest. You just hate the draft

So what's new? The NFL is again investigating the Patsies for video taping spying. It's just like criminal defendants. They keep on committing the same crime.

And note I put asterisk by Ryan Tannehill. So Trasher should comment on that. Not saying these were HOF players but just saying they were good, i.e. that they were NON busts.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
I should have stuck with non busts but the first asterisk was for Greise so good just naturally came out of my mouth but below there were other non busts who didn't deserve being thought of as "pretty good."
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Hey, I think our lines, O and D, suck as well. But since there are more linemen than QBs, you get the best QB first.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Here are our 1st round draft picks with asterisks I have placed myself next to the NON-Busts (players that were pretty good for us)
1966 1 Jim Grabowski * RB Illinois
2 Rick Norton QB Kentucky
1967 4 Bob Griese ^ Purdue *
1968 8 Larry Csonka ^ FB Syracuse*
27 Doug Crusan OT Indiana *
1969 11 Bill Stanfill DE Georgia *
1970 — No pick — —

Yeah, 808, that flies in the face of my understanding of the draft order rules. As I understand it, the rules that apply in determining the playoff eligibility and ranking are the same rules that apply to draft order...only in reverse.
Thst should mean that all other qualifications being equal, head to head should take precedence with the LOSER winning the higher draft pick in case of a tie
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
That we agree on. Neither can I EVER root for us to LOSE a game.
My pre-draft game day strategy is to root for our draft RIVALS to WIN, thus giving us a higher draft pick.

Tom just threw an interception from his own 20 which was returned to about the Patsies 10 but the refs (the Pats reserve squad) moved the ball back to the 20. No problem. Touchdown pass on next play. Houston leads 7-3.
