sounds like what I think will happen--best avail CB in 1st, best avail WR with on of our 2ds. I think our 1st rounder will be Butler from UConn, sporano likes those guys from CT and Davis is supposedly too inconsistent.
" They have to take a corner. Will Allen is a solid veteran, but they need a corner. They could look at two guys, Vontae Davis out of Illinois or Darius Butler out of UCon

Both statements are true--it would take way more than Penny to get a d

right now CB is a way bigger need than WR. The issue with WR is we have a bunch of average/above average but not great players. At CB we don't even have enough bodies, let alone good players. I think it was a mistake no to sign bodden, goodman, or springs (one of the them). It has forced us to make a pick early and play him rather than draft for value. hopefully BPA will be a CB in round one, but

seriously, no one thinks bo jackson was all that? he was huge and the fastest guy I've ever seen in the nfl--he made everyone else look like they were standing still. I know he doesn't have the numbers b/c of his injuries and career choices, but when he did play--wow. And did you see him in tecmo
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Sorry to get off-topic but I was just thinking about this and was curious what people think. I'd have to say bo jackson--seriously, if he focused on football only and didn't get hurt, he'd have blown away every nfl record.

that barely ever happens in the nfl. only time I can think that ever happens is when the player refuses to play in the team that picked him (Elway, Eli Manning). so I don't expect us to pick someone in the 1st round and then trade him.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
problem with trading down is there needs to be someone who really wants a player at 25 enough to trade up for. The only way I see that happening is if one of the top rated WR or OL falls--and we decide we really don't want a WR in the first.

barring injury, the only way he starts at C over grove is if grove is a flat out bust. With the money we gave him, if he is not the starter than it was a horrible signing. So I think Grove starts, and hope he does and is plays up to his big contract.

mcfadden signed with ARIZ, 2 years at 5 million per, so cross him off the list of potential phins. it's looking like we are expecting to get a starting CB in the draft, always a dicey proposition.

I think you have to admit the prospect of an offense with Brady, Moss, Welker, and Tomlinson would be pretty scary. Remember, 2 years ago they came within 1 min of being the greatest team in nfl history. and still won 11 games last year losing their QB in the first game. Like it or not (and I certainly do not) they are still the team to beat in the AFC East. All they lack is a star RB--LT would b

they'd cut maroney if they could sign LT. he hasn't done much as a pro, always hurt. remember they have a lot of cap space now after unloading vrable and cassel
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
yes I think he took the ONLY offer--or at least the only offer that was willing to pay TO what he thinks he's worth
no one wants to play in Buffalo, why do you think they never sign any free agents?
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
I'd say the odds are at least 50-50 that SD cuts LT, who is pissed they want him to take a pay cut. If that happens, I could really seeing him signing with the Pats--how much would that SUCK?? LT, Brady, Moss on the same team! It could and maybe will happen!

knowshon will be on the board. he will probably go after beenie wells and no RB is projected to go higher than 20.
a 1st round RB would be a big waste for us. no way we do it.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
I would take best player available. if a top OL fell to us I'd be fine with it. but I agree it is looking like the first pick will be on D. we're in a good position to take the highest rated D player who falls.

sounds to me like we could have had brown for an extra 1 mill a year. given their age, injury history, and performance, it doesn't make a lot of sense that we'd rather have grove given a 1mill savings. there's got to be more going on here--i.e., grove's is backloaded and more cap friendly.
we've just paid a boat load of money to 2 players cut by the raiders of all teams.

word is from the herald that we are about to sign the former raider's center to a pretty sizable contract. I remember he was the top center coming out a few years ago and hoped we drafted him then. however, OAK's OL has been nothing special, so I don't know how good a pro he's been.
we are now truly in position to take BPA in the draft

the more I think about this, the more I think NE really got hosed in this deal. only getting 2D rounder for a guy who threw 3700 21/11 last year in his first pro action? think about what guys like Schaub got, for less action and worse performance. multiple 2d rounders. hell even AJ feeley got a 2d for the 5 games he played the prior year (OK bad example). rob johnson, career backup got a 1st rou
