Certainly affirms what I've long believed - that they have maintained their cheating ways throughout the Belicheck era.

Overall, from the beginning, they looked like a team that thought that they would win by simply showing up. On top of that, they looked, from pretty early on, like the altitude was a factor. They were a step slow whether defending or OL blocking. Not trying to position that as an excuse, but it's certainly a legitimate possible factor. Regarding Tua specifically, I think it's a good thing t

I totally agree that - at least as of now - RB is the position most lacking in legitimate talent. I like a couple of the players, but they're (in my opinion) complimentary role players and not ideal for being our future RB1. I don't keep up much with college football - anyone in particular you think would be a good fit in that role for us in 2021?

Absolutely great thing to have a kicker like Sanders.

I agree that neither Jones nor Howard is a week-in-week-out shutdown corner, and both of them had a subpar game compared to what they're capable of and what we've become accustomed to. I do think portions of that are due to: - Murray's elusiveness and buying receivers time - their receiver corps being very strong While most of Howard's were deserved, I also got the sense the refs were cal

If one were to identify the single variable that seems to indicate W or L for the Phins so far this season, it's whether they're facing a mobile QB. I do think they'll continue to struggle there, but our D has improved over the course of the season to date. I wonder if they'll do the "spy" thing with maybe Baker or Van Noy.

Wondering if this is the week when Jordan Howard takes advantage of a reboot opportunity. Stinks that Breida's also injured. Arizona has middle-of-the-pack rush D, but a good D overall per Football Outsiders ranking.

A lot to like about Gaskin, and he's definitely the kind of player that we want on the team. But, he's much more the kind I want as RB2 or 3rd down back. His fumble (hit pretty hard, it happens) and drop (an unusual occurrence, as he's typically a really good receiver) really hurt in this one game. We're fortunate the D & ST more than made up for our offense's difficulties. I do like his

What a defense to face to start out your career. It would be huge if: - the OL steps up to the challenge...not that they've been bad or a disappointment this year by any means, but kicks it up a notch - the running game is established early. I don't mean a dominant Ravens/Titans type game...but one that is remains a viable option throughout the game and is effective enough to keep the D f

Travis Wingfield tweeted that since Byron Jones' return, our CB tandem has held opposing passers to a 2.7 QB rating when targeting them. It was by design that they put together a strength at corner, and we're seeing what a strength it is. I genuinely hope it's not the case that they're shopping him. The Phins have outright denied that they're exploring trading X.

Just watched the NFL.com video with Kurt Warner who discussed the 2004 transition from him to Eli Manning with him playing well and the team competing toward playoff contention. Of the various things I've read/seen so far about the switch, I think that's the one I find most helpful. He's such an upstanding professional - like Fitz. Eli was clearly the future - like Tua. My hope (and, honestly

Love that we took care of business and were able to do so without playing anywhere near our best. Some things I particularly liked: - the fact that our 2 backup TE scored TDs...spreading the scoring opps around so that teams can't almost naturally assume that if they defend Gesicki, Parker and the QB sneak they'll be keying on the right players. - a well-run screen pass to Gaskins. What a win! Before the SEA game, I told my son I thought it would be 30-24 Hawks, and it ended up 31-23. This week, we were in agreement with most that the Phins were more likely to lose than win in a close one, though I did say "it's one of those games on the schedule that we might steal". Definitely didn't think we'd watch the utter domination we did. Obviously it helps that SF

I agree that Boyer & Kuntz need to stop the bleeding. In listening to comments by players & coaches this week, there seems to be agreement that communication - specifically post lining up but pre-snap - needs to improve. I'd prefer that this be the big problem rather than things like: lack of talent, scheme that just doesn't work, lack of player development over time, effort/buy-in. Co

Although I've felt that our coaching staff does a really good job of developing players and putting them in position to succeed, with Iggy, I've been surprised that they didn't keep him in the slot (where he lined up in the abbreviated training camp) and put someone like Needham on the boundary. I get that Iggy is far more talented than Needham, but this early in his career, there's much more th

Wow - Texans fire their coach/gm. I had actually considered him a pretty good coach which was why I didn't think, with relative health of key players, HOU would be picking in the top 5 even with their personnel moves. It's possible this sparks a rally for the rest of their season...or possible things go really south.

Made too many mistakes and not enough plays...but the reffing wasn't fair today. Tough to overcome a more talented team, your own mistakes AND the zebras.

Though I'm not predicting a win, it's a winnable game for us. A strong running game and a couple of turnovers will probably be necessary to limit their offense's opportunities.

I think that's pretty close to where I am. I like seeing what looks like improvement, but recognize it's against talent inferior to that of NE & BUF. I will be surprised if we beat SEA, but expect that nearly all of our games this year should be relatively competitive. Being outscored by a cumulative 102-10 in back-to-back weeks should be something that only happens once in the history of

Showing my ignorance and hoping to learn - why were we able to run so effectively early on, and then it became much more difficult? I'm guessing it was some sort of defensive adjustment that we didn't match with an adjustment to how we were blocking, but that's only a guess.

I think, as you laid out, that confidence has different facets. Confidence in your own ability...confidence in your teammates' abilities...confidence in coaching, whether scheme or playcall. Pre-injury, Jones had allowed a passer rating of about 72. Howard has not remotely resembled a shut-down corner yet, and I have to assume a good portion of that is confidence in himself coming out of i

Colonel - I was thinking the same thing re: the mental side and being a step or 2 off. Kept telling my son as we were watching together "they're just not in sync...they're off". To me, this is a coaching issue. Obviously, things were exacerbated by Jones' injury, as they picked on Noah with Diggs all game long. But, more generally, they didn't have answers for what the announcers

Leading up to the game, I was thinking that NE would use the ground game as their primary weapon against us...I just didn't think we'd be that bad at defending it. It will be interesting to see what kinds of adjustments are made because BUF is similarly set up with an athletic QB who's a dangerous runner, too. Their OL probably isn't quite as good as NE's, but their receivers are better. I w

I hadn't thought of the release/re-sign scenario. In my mind, I've always thought that Fitz & Tua are similar in a lot of ways. Obviously, the thought is that Tua has some potentially elite traits that Fitz doesn't (e.g. accuracy) and youth. Rosen, on the other hand, clearly has a talented arm (best of the 3, supposedly) but really doesn't seem to share any other traits like awareness, q

I can see a possibility that Flores - even now - might look back on the Minkah deal and think "I may have been able to handle that better where we get to keep a talented player and have him fully bought in", which is gold - young, talented and fully bought in. Not knowing all the ins & outs, obviously, there's also a good possibility that he's perfectly content with the outcome kno

Interesting article on the news feed that quotes Minkah at length about the incident(s) that led to his trade along with some analysis that debunks part of what he says and also references how he said the polar opposite about the same basic situation ("I'll do anything..play any position" ) in PIT. That's hypocritical of him and reveals a pretty significant character flaw.

In general, I agree with the Caldwell's perspective - but I think context plays a huge part, and he alludes pretty directly to that. In terms of the context related to Tunsil, I think there's: - "the Patriot way" of allocating relatively less $$ to the OL as opposed to what was probably general knowledge that Tunsil would reset the market (which he did by $4 mill/yr) - the haul &
