An injured Pro Bowler.
Yes, he supposedly was ready to play again, but he didn't play and was supposedly "suspended" for some unknown reason before being CUT! Belichick cut a Pro Bowl punter?! For what? Who knows, he hasn't said. As far as I'm concerned, it just reinforces my opinion that Bill is a lousy personnel man, and ALWAYS HAS BEEN!
I absolutely agree on the Sanders thing.

I just read that Morstead is going to the damned Jets. We got a kid from the Patriots. It makes no sense to me that punters are moving around the AFC East, but I don't see how we made out better with the moves. We've got no idea what we got in this kid Bailey, but we know what we had in Morstead, a damn fine punter. After the last two mediocre punters, we finally got one who got us into advantage

He WAS a winner. Now, he's just OLD. It amazes me that anybody would still think so- did you see him play last year? Poor. He isn't one of the best 32 QB's in the world anymore- maybe as a backup, maybe one of the best 96 (maybe), but I personally don't think so. Besides, isn't he busy with a new cat?

TCPF:
8 mil a year IS a lot for a third stringer, but I like Thompson. Should be a good competition for backup, but talent will out! We'll see.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
captkoi, sure he could fix it- by NOT putting him on the other team's best receiver every week. But, that's his job and he's damn good at it. I also hope that he has a great year!
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
I hope I'm wrong, but I haven't heard anything about us re-signing the only high spot on our special teams last year- punter Thomas Morstead. This guy is a weapon! He is, and has been for some years, one of the best punters in the league. Mike Westhoff, one of the best special teams coordinators in league history (he was Shula's special teams coordinator and he worked with Morstead in New Orleans

Damn Right! It was clear from the first regular season game that he played against New England that it was a distinct possibility that he would be great linebacker, maybe good enough to make the Hall of Fame! I knew it from the play early in the game when NE's best WR ran a wide receiver sweep and Zach not only caught him but hit him so hard that he went out like a light. We all looked at each ot

I don't think I agree with that. It was really only fully enjoyable for about 5 weeks. Five out of seventeen isn't very good. There was LOTS to bitch about all year long. I looked in occasionally but usually found the same topic ( not even topicS!) as the last time I looked. Once in a while, somebody had added a post to it, but not usually. Very occasionally was a new topic raised. There has been

Teddy was totally useless. He won't be back next year, but Skylar will be. If he learns the speed of playoff games, much less the speed of regular season games, he's going to be the backup next year, and probably more. Tua is, as EVERYBODY knows, injury-prone and not to be depended on. I guess we'll just have to see what happens. Maybe Lamar?
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
It should have. Skylar Thompson looked like a rookie, no question. However, to me he looked a LOT like Tua last year- he didn't trust his talented players, so he held the ball too long on some plays, and he frustrated me by having plenty of time on some plays but pulling it down and then not getting the ball to where it needed to go. Too many times, his receivers broke open or were open just enou

I agree with you completely. However, it isn't just our games, its all over the league. From what I've heard from several national pundits, the League has told the supervisor of officials that the refs should throw the flag even if they have a doubt about the call. I suppose they think that they will fix it in N.Y. This seems to me to be the exact opposite of what they should do. People don't wat

Early in the season, Tua threw the ball high to Mike Gesicki (it was noted on tv that the pass was "just below the crossbar" ) in the end zone and the tall guy with springs in his legs easily got to it for the score. When you have a 6'6" TE being covered in the endzone by a much shorter DB, why would you throw the ball low to him? Yet the last three passes targeted to him in the en

I think mizzou15 is a bit hard on the defense-but just a bit. They could not get off the field far too many times on third, short or not. The tackling wasn't very good. The linebackers and DBs did a very poor job of controlling the outside. We really only got ONE good stop on third, fortunately in the last moments of the game. The playcalling on our last series, the one inside our own five, was a

After the playoff loss last year, the Bills' fans bitched so much about the overtime rules dealing with the idea that the offense of a team should be able to have a chance to win or tie the game when the other team scores what should be the winning points. The rules committee obligingly changed the rules. This is RIDICULOUS. Every team has an offense, a defense, and special teams, mostly evenly i

"Certainly an upgrade from Teddy"?!? Are you kidding? He has shown some talent, and maybe he has 'IT'. Nevertheless, he hasn't played against the starting talent in this league yet. Takes some time to work up to that. Yes, I agree that we need to keep Thompson, but he's not ready yet, so Bridgewater, with his successful record as a starter, still needs to be the backup at this point. Pe
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Yes, and I am a bit disappointed. Taking another WR at this point seems to be overkill at the position, and after the less-than-impressive year that Michael Palardy had as our punter last year, I would have thought that picking a world-class punter would have been a pretty good and somewhat obvious idea. Instead, a division rival gets him, so we will see him twice a year.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Do you really think that ANY of the teams in the league would select a punter not named Ray Guy or Yale Lary before the third round? I think it highly unlikely, so I think that if we wanted this guy, we could get him with a minimum of fuss.

Are the idiot owners trying to destroy their own game? By changing this rule, they have marginalized the defenses! Championship teams are supposed to have championship offenses AND championship defenses. So, if team in the playoffs loses the toss, they have to play defense and stop the opponent's offense. If that team scores a touchdown, this rule change makes it OK that your defense FAILED. You

Perhaps so. That's one part of the 'culture' here that needs to be addressed- if a guy is productive, so what if he pisses somebody off. That's a poor reason to usher him out of town. This is a billion -dollar business, suck it up.

I wish I could tell where I read it (or heard it), but I watch and read so much about the league that I just can't recall. Pro football has been my only sports interest since 1961, so that I immerse myself in the league so completely that sometimes it's hard to recall the origin of any particular bit of information that I have come across. Sorry.

TCPF, you are wrong. Look it up. The Broncos made it plain that Elway, who has a terrible track record on the QB position, wouldn't have ANYTHING to do with this QB search. If he had anything at all to say about it, it wasn't until it was a done deal and, as the general manager, he had to acknowledge the trade. Nothing more.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
It seems to me that a lot of you guys as well as the media are taking a hell of a lot for granted. This guy missed 9 games last year with an elbow injury and he had knee surgery. Aren't you guys sick and tired of bringing in injured players? I know that I am.
I still believe that the linemen we have drafted high in the draft can't all be busts, they had too much talent coming out of college. I t
