This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
JC, if you were around in those days(and I was, and I think that you were, too) you'd be crazy NOT to be a Csonka fan. He was a great fullback( and a nice man!), but fullbacks were also running backs (witness Brown, Zonk, Franco, Nagursky, Motley, Allstot, Riggins, Taylor, Osbourne, and SO MANY others) in those days. And, as far as I'm concerned, every team in the league should have a fullback! O

Colonel, remember what John Madden said- " One Knee Equals Two Feet". Name of one of his books, in which he explains that if you're a one who might be impacted by the rule, you have to have both feet completely inbounds- or your knee. The receiver only had one-and-a-half feet inbounds. Incomplete.

Well, it makes me sick that Van Ginkle has scored as many touchdowns as our entire offense has- and his TD was the winning points. A guy that makes plays EVERY week, and frequently game-changing plays. But, WE didn't need him.

Did OBJ even play?
I really disliked the personnel moves by Brian Flores. I think that this guy's moves might be worse. Andrew Van Ginkle scored as many touchdowns ( a defensive player!) today as the Dolphins have all year. Great decision.
Why the hell does he still play Julian Hill when he's got Jonnu Smith?!? Hill makes five times as many mistakes as decent plays- of which there has been only

Whoa, guys! Look, the reality is that at this point in the season we aren't going to be making any major changes, and very few minor ones. The truth is, they have been playing with no cohesion and little emotion. But...they have a wealth of talent and currently they aren't playing up to their talent. However, things change, sometimes very quickly in this league. Seriously, its not like we are out

Does anybody know if Mike Vrabel is still on the street?
I have been watching this game since 1962, and I cannot think of another team in all that time that looks as bad as this team does since about the last quarter of last year- I'd MUCH rather have Brian Flores, and I don't think he's a particularly good head coach, but at least they played hard for him- for this guy, they play poor football

I was in Vegas for that Bears game, I really KNEW that we were going to win outright, but I'm not a gambler so I was too dumb to bet on the game- which of course we won.

Thanks JC, but I am a bit disappointed in myself- I try to be a clear, objective thinker, but I guess I let this team get under my skin. Come to think of it, that happens too often. But, we don't appear to be able to win or even compete in a prime time game anymore. We haven't won many prime time games in front of the whole country since Earl Campbell's rookie season when he ran for three long to

I agree. Hill only made one positive play that I can think of, and a whole lot of dumb mistakes that really hurt us. Drops. Penalties. We should be using our talented, big-money pickup in Jonnu Smith.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Yes, he did but as I'm well on my way to finding out, at that age things happen to your body that you never expected and they seem to happen very fast.

Gentleman:
I apologise for that outburst, I was seeing red, just as many of you were. The reality is, there's not a whole lot that we can do at this point in the season. I certainly still believe that some changes need to be made, but now is not the time to do it. We really can't do much now, so I guess we just have to cross our fingers and hope things get better before the end of the season- th

I blame this mess on that little wart of a girlyman coach we are currently saddled with. Stop kissing your players as they come off the field and try some yelling. Strive for toughness. Coaches from the Shanahan tree typically don't put a high priority on the O-line. McDaniel seems to have taken that to the nth degree, because our o-line has been TERRIBLE so far. But, there is sooo much more. Why

I think, from this pathetic display, that our girly-man coach should be fired NOW. This team does not play hard for him, or even competively. I think we need to clean house and start over with competent people- and, apparently, players.

Hey, you know what? I'd much rather that they are shitty now and playing well late in the season. Unlikely? Why should it be? It happens across the league every year.

I think that you're wrong, if Tua retires that new contract goes out the window. If he stays but doesn't play, he gets paid.
Please...I hope that they aren't stupid enough to sign Tannehill. He was no good when he was here, went to Tennessee and played well for two seasons, then fell apart in the playoffs. He looked terrible the next two years, and got benched. We don't want or need him back.

1. With the player's union contract that the owners signed in 2011 still being in force, no team is ready to play Opening Day anymore. Most of the starters in the league play maybe a quarter before the season starts, and they simply aren't ready to play. That is also the reason that so many players get hurt early in the season.
2. I agree with your assessment of Tua.
3.I admit, I have been

Great stats!-sometimes. Positive winning percentage!- not when it counts, though. So- did we pay this guy on 'potential'?! He certainly hasn't earned a big payday! After four years, he should be paid not on 'potential', but on production! -of course, if they had done that, he'd be playing on the fifth-year option. He's NOT worth what they paid him- but, its not my money. If Ross wants to be a dam
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
No, I think you're right about replacing Tua, but why would Mike White or more particularly Skylar Thompson be disastrous? Thompson had a better showing in his rookie playoff game than Tua has had in ANY big game, including his one lousy- and I do mean LOUSY - playoff game. The WHOLE idea behind football is to WIN! Tua can't win the important games, so what do we need him for? To get into the re
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
It's simple. Our offense disappears completely when we need it the most. Tua does NOTHING to win those late games against good opponents. He looks lost and is ineffective at those times when we need him to take control of the game- and he has proven that he CANNOT do so. So all of his gaudy statistics- compiled against inferior teams- he does not win ANY of the important games.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Well, that isn't true, but he doesn't spread the ball around very well, either. Ludricrous it definitely is not. Is he worth the utterly ridiculous amount of money it would take to sign him? No Way!
However, our options are limited so we'll be stuck with him. The only positive that I can think of is that he has shown an ability to learn over the off-season, so maybe he can learn to be effective
