This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
Here's a major issue with trading for either Carson Palmer or Kyle Orton. The Dolphins already have $116M committed in payroll, without signing their own free agents or draft picks, or attempting to find contributors in free agency at RB (Sproles, Williams, Bush, etc), OL (Blaylock, Nicks, Dahl, Gallery), or at LB (Kirk Morrison?). The salary cap is expected to be around $125M. And there will be a salary cap. Both sides agree on that. The owners proposed one at $114M and the players proposed one at $130M. Carson Palmer has multiple years left on his deal that pays him over $11M per season. Kyle Orton is on a one year that pays him $9M. Without shedding some significant salary elsewhere, acquiring either of those guys would be extremely difficult.
Are you sure about those cap numbers bc I have read that we are not that hard up?
Besides its not uncommon for a player to renegotiate to lessen the initial cap burden...and Palmer wants out badly.
My choices would be Palmer or Orton followed by Bulger.
Forget all about Kolb...he has shown me less than Henne.
I heard we may be able to get Orton for a second...and I think he is ready to take the next step. He already looks good but he is at that point where QBs take the next step.
He has beaten out higher drafted and rated qbs everywhere he has gone. I like him.
Garner played well at tackle in the past and TS said he views him as more of a tackle....injury risk would be my main concern for Garner....Carey too for that matter. He is not getting any younger.
We have no one that is even close to Crowder other than Karlos so I hope we keep him.
The longer this lockout goes on the harder it will be to get a look at the young dbs to see if they are ready.
I would hate to mess with the D. That sort of thing has really screwed us under this regime....ala the o line.

Yes I remember you beating the Kyle Orton drum hard before that draft
I can't see Denver giving Tebow the keys to the Caddy without Orton around as insurance, but if we could get him for a 4th i'd probably do that, he's a proven commodity and a definate upgrade over Henne at this point.
