To leave Sporano hanging while they search for his replacement Just fire the man already. It's even more ridiculous to lose out on Bill Cowher because you want to keep Jeff Freakin Ireland? Ireland should be fired before coach.....he is responsible for selecting the players.

Maybe they are reaching out too him as becoming our OC.
I think that would be a more natural progression for him in ultimately becoming a HC in the NFL, possibly ours.
I know he's the hot name right now, but I have my doubts about how well he'd do as a NFL HC directly out of college. It's a huge jump. A year or 2 as an OC would be more beneficial to his long term NFL career.
Otherwise, if starting as an HC, I can see him burning out after 2 years and taking the job at Michigan.
Jeff Ireland might be getting the blame but IMHO quite a bit of the auhority in selecting players rested with Bill Parcells over the past three seasons.
I hope Ross is keeping the Saban experience in mind here. A great college coach is not necessarily even a good NFL coach.
But as far as Sparano, I don't have much sympathy. I said weeks ago he had to either fire Henning or get fired along with him at the end of the season. Looks like that might happen. Sure, maybe he didn't want to embarass Henning at the end of a long career, but they could have arranged something like having him resign to spend more time with his family, improve his health etc.. The fans and the players deserve some loyalty too!
