Trade Bait

We have 1 game left before one of the most important off-seasons in recent dolphins history begins. We are without a 2nd round draft pick and have major holes at RB, OL, QB (?) and MLB (Crowder sucks).

So my question is: Do we have anyone on our roster to get additional draft picks or players (Kyle Orton?)

I think we are stacked at DE and Tony McDaniel, while i love the guy, would get us in position to acquire a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick or a player such as Kyle Orton if he becomes available.

Thoughts?

Brandon Marshall and Cameron Wake would have some serious trade value, not so sure about anyone else, probably Vontae also.

Tony McDaniel is a free agent at the end of the season, so he's not ours to trade.

I'm not sure we want to create holes on our team to mend others...

Exactly correct, If you displace areas we have correct, then it creates holes in those areas, its like a ship that has a hole in the stern, do you take material from the bow to correct the stern? No, then you make the bow weak. Its hard to get a full stength team in all areas, but you must balance it so that what you have you work well enough to win games

We definitely have extra DL and I think Merling would be a likely candidate for a trade. I’m not sure about his value but he’s certainly worth a 3rd and maybe a 2nd (if a team really digs his size and upside at a young age). With the development of Soliai its also a possibility to trade Starks, especially if they believe Odrick will recover from his bout with the porcelain flu.

I don’t see us trading any players unless it’s to move up for one of the top QB’s. In fact if we don’t do that I would expect Ireland (if he’s still in charge) to trade down in an attempt to regain the 2nd round pick.

I didn't say I wanted to do this, but you asked who would have trade value and those 3 plus Long are probably it.

Here are a few guys with possible value that I wouldn't mind us trading:

Brian Hartline (reliable, but should be replaced with a speed guy anyway)
Vernon Carey (lazy and fat, but still one of the better RTs in the league)
Randy Starks (recent pro-bowler...but expendable)
Will Allen (still on IR. Any chance we could sign-and-trade him?)
John Jerry (has potential as a young guard, but hasn't worked out for us)
