The only surprise here is that it is Jason Allen and not Sapp. Smith has been on a downward spiral. Hope he gets his head straight soon.
It will be interesting to see how Jason Allen does. My take on him is that he can be phenomenal on one play and give up a long TD on the next. We'll see.

I knew when Smith was fighting with fans on TWITTER less than an hour after the Cowboys game the other night, that this kid's head isn't all there. I mean how immature is one that 40 min after a game (preseason or not) you are on twitter fighting with fans.
I think this benching might have more to do with that than his actual play
This has a lot more to do with Sean Smith and Will Allen than it does Jason Allen.
But this is Jason Allen's big chance to prove all of us haters wrong. I'd love to see him turn into a solid CB option for the rest of the year, but I can't say that I'm hopeful. We'll see.

He's always played in games better than he's practiced. His blown TD against Jax was bad FS play. I'm starting to wonder if we should try one of our CBs at FS.
From what I have seen from JA the last two seasons he has developed into a top special teams player and has had a few oportunities to develop at corner.
I have seen some positive signs in his development...solid tackler and some ability to jar the ball loose to create turnovers. I think that the lights have finally come on for this player.
My question is, if JA has improved his ball skills and he's physical, why didn't we give him a shot at FS? Sure he had trouble at FS when he was a rookie, but...HE WAS A ROOKIE!! Why not give him one more shot?
I really liked Sean smith when we drafted him but if he turns out to be a bust then we are looking at pat white turner and smith in top rounds being a bust. Not good! Couple that we all the free agents we have missed on and you gotta start to question the talent evaluation dept for the phons

2 INT today, and at least one really nice pass breakup. And he was a Benny Sapp offsides penalty away from having a 3rd INT. Plus, he should have had a pick-6 last week. He's made an impact. I think it's great. Let's hope he continues to play well.
Yeah, but it's been multiple staff's now without him getting on the field. Even though when he did he usually made positive plays...if he was not making plays in practice, I have to think he would have been gone by now.
If we can get Smith's head right we'll have a really stellar group of three corners.
I've been saying this for years, but now everybody can see it because he's playing well on the big stage for a good football team. I wonder how foolish some people feel now who have been saying that he SUCKS(in caps, no less) an that he cannot play. What say you now?
I always thought he was a lot better than people gave him credit for. not ready to "anoint" him yet but if he keeps it up at this level what a huge boost to this team? vonte is pro bowl caliber and smith really isn't that bad. 3 solid young CBs, we'd be set for a long time
