I'm happy they got a guy of this talent, not sure if i'm happy we got this guy. If he stays out of trouble and the dog-house, 2 2nd rndrs isn't that bad for a young top 5 WR. My fingers are crossed and to the tri-fecta for trying to improve.
After his suspension last year he got his act together and was very good on and off the field and in the locker room. Don't know what happened late in the season with the "injury", but McDaniel just won't put up with any crap from anyone.
I think this will turn out to be a great move for the Phins.
Wow I think some are a bit too "optimistic" (i.e., delusional) about this. Marshall isn't going to make this team transform into a playoff powerhouse all by himself. And the dude can't tackle for crap so we still have plenty of needs of the D side. In addition:
1) the OL is not a finished product
2) we have no legit TE
3) OLB???
4) FS???
5) is Henne the real REAL deal?
6) NT???
7) Ronnie - is he made of glass?
8) Ricky - how old is he?

I have to imagine that's a joke. WRs aren't expected to tackle, are they?

-what the hell are you talking about?
Our running backs are solid
Our Oline is solid. Henne was good without a #1 WR...imagine this season!
This makes us so much better, now that we can draft on the defensive side of the ball.
Still with the RB situation, who do the Pats, Jets and Bills have?
LT, Taylor, Marshawn....pleeease!

Every team in the league has holes to fill. Sure we still have holes, but that doesn't mean we are #3 in our division. We beat the Jets twice last year with less than we have now. We beat NE once. We should have beaten the Colts and the Saints.
We have upgraded WR, and ILB and still have our first round pick.
Our OL got it done last year and will again this year. You watch the trifecta add a RB in mid to late rounds that will produce.
You don't need an LT to succeed in the running game. Cobb will also be back.

Offensive scheme for yards and receptions. TD's has a bit of luck and situation playing into it

Impact player on offense. Impact player on defense. Would be tough to argue with you.
Only the Jets can make a claim of doing that this offseason(Holmes and Cromartie) and I think our 2 guys are better than there's so, we might have had the best offseason this year
I just read the news...my first thought....Holy *%$#!
Unbelievable! I never would have thought they would go for it let alone pay him that much money.
Yes, we still have needs on defense. Our offense is good enough to compete as is. We now have the best WR in the AFC East. Suck on that one Jets and Pats!
Don't think Marshall was worth it? Look at Jay Cutler with and without Brandon Marshall. Look at Kyle Orton with and without Brandon Marshall.
Kyle Orton had his best year last year with Marshall. He went from a 54.6 completion rate to 62.1 in his first year in a new offense after looking mediocre in the same system for 3 years. He threw for 830 more yards and almost had 4000 yards passing after never even topping the 3k mark.
Cutler looked like a Pro Bowler with Marshal and looked like a rookie without him. He also threw for 860 less yards without him.
I hope Henne takes a page from the Manning training book and spends a lot of time working on timing with Marshall and our other WR's.
NE doesn't have the DB's to compete with us now.
NY has Revis but that will just open things up for Hartline and company... Cromartie is HIGHLY overrated.
All we have to do now is sign JT and draft Earl Thomas and we will be in pretty good shape. We can get Troup in the 3rd and he can compete with Soliai. We can also pick up another NT. One is sure to hit the waiver wire and maybe even from the Jets.
We can also get by in a hybrid defense and play a 43 if our NT's aren't playing up to snuff.
A stud FS will make the biggest impact for us this year. Playing center field with our talented CB group and preventing those big plays that cost us so many games last year. I don't see any pass rusher that is as close to a sure thing and can play all 3 phases in the rookie year.
Chad Henne and our RB's just got an early birthday present. This is huge for opening up things for the running game. We were already one of the top running teams and doing it with EVERYONE playing 8 in the box. They can't do that anymore.
eetsi great point about how much better cutler and orter were with marshall, and how much worse they were without him. to me, that's why the deal is so important---it will make henne that much better and give us a legit passing attack for the first time since the 90s
WOW, I am so excited, I could care less what they pay, I pay a bunch for season tickets, and have not seen many stars on the field in some time... About time I get my money's worth.... This guy gives us at least 2 to 3 more wins... It opens the run up as well as making us a threat in the passing game... Can't crowd the line thinking run all the time now!!!!!! so 2 to 3 more wins makes us a 10 to 11 win team..... and that could win the Div. If we can play some D to go along with this we could actually get into the playoffs and maybe win a game or more.....
