why do they think he's just gonna sit there and wait till after the draft before wanting to join a team? we should sign him for the vet leadership if nothing else. he won't cost much and if he leaves we'd have only wake, anderson, moses and maybe some rookies. pretty scary.

That's what we are here for...to talk about recent news....So what if he posted a link

Anyway...I know JT said he will only sign if he is playing at his normal weak side position. Calvin Pace plays WOLB but only produced 8 sacks which is a career high. Brian Thomas only produced 2 on the strong side.

Gholston will be out of the league soon but Does pace get moved to SOLB? More likely JT comes in as pass rush specialist to spell Pace. I'm sure he won't like that.

If JT goes to NY and that defense, he will tear it up next year. 16 sacks is my bet...

Maybe Jason should have failed a drug test... then maybe Parcels would resign him.

Hindering the success of the younger guys? Total BS! What about 35 year old Fergy who can't even play 16 games any more?

LOL...well I'm glad that Sparano has spoken w/ JT, but I'm certainly not worried about him becoming a JET. He hates the Jets. He wants to play in Miami where he can be close to his family.

The Dolphins just cannot reveal their draft strategy to anyone at this time. JT needs to be patient and hopefully we can squeeze another year out of him.

It is interesting though that JT had flirted w/ retirement a few times and that he now understands that it's a good thing to squeeze as many million dollar seasons in as possible.

Why does JT need to be patient???

He needs to put his life on hold for a franchise that doesn't return his phone calls. That is until he boards a plan to NYC to talk with the Jets.

JT needs to be patient?? WHY??

Were better off with out him last year we regressed with him on the roster. He is old and not very big, and wears down at the end of seasons by JT go ruin someone ele's chemistry. I trust Parcells a hell of alot more than all of you who gripe about every move we make or don't make. If he goes to the Jets so what what game changing plays did he make last year. One scooped up a fumble against the jets caused by Solia, and returned it for a touchdown that was it. In other words we need game changers on defense not old retreads. Parcells and company know what's best for the franchise. So all of you quit panicking, and let it play out.

Jason Taylor is a born ball hawk. He's a play maker. He did it last year. If there are still treads on the tires, he'll do it again this year. In an uncapped year, to not spend the money you need to acquire the greatest active pass rusher in the league is just plain dumb. Either this is just a ploy for more money from the phins, or we're not privy to some piece of vital information.

You're completely off on this. If we had trouble with our chemistry, it was because of Porter, NOT JT. JT played SOLB, a position who's primary duty is pass coverage and run coverage on his side of the field. It's not as high profile as WOLB, who's primary role is rushing the passer.

His life isn't on hold. He needs to patient for a plethara of reasons.

1) He still is rehabbing from shoulder surgery. Get that puppy healed up 100%. Maybe dancing would be good for it.

2) The Dolphins are focusing in on the draft. Obviously, they are appearing to not be interested in JT...wink wink. They don't want to reveal their draft strategy that may or may not include an edge rusher.

The Dolphins did create an openning for him when they released Porter. They have room for JT but they also need to see what the draft provides. The Phins will likely clearly communicate their intentions for JT after the draft (April 24th).

3) Training camp starts in August.

It's my belief that they've already made there intentions clear to him in some private conversation.

Its all about leverage, and disguising their draft intentions.

As long as JT is 'waiting', teams can't say for sure that the Phins will or won't draft OLB in the draft.

If they let the Jets sign him...its pretty much a clear indication that they will be going OLB with the 12th pick.

If they sign him, teams may feel that we are drafting a DT or WR.

JT unsigned..but loyally waiting until after the draft provides legitimate doubt.

The problem is...that if the Phins do draft OLB and the Jets and Pats also draft OLB in the top 3 rounds JT's value plummets and his negotiating leverage with it. He is wise to force their hand.

The best bet is for us to sign him...citing loyalty, depth, veteran leadership/mentoring..and then continue to obfuscate our draft options.

WHY do you all think it is so important that people think we won't draft a LB that are a basing decisions on who to sign and when to sign them on it. please give me a scenario in the first round where it would actually matter that much? do you think a team ahead of us is going to draft a LB b/c they don't want us to? for what? any such player would not last till their pick in the 2d round so if we didn't take them they wouldn't get them regardless. so it must be a trade down. and tell me again, which olb this year is so great someone will trade up with us to get him so we don't take him ourselves? this line of reasoning makes zero sense. please explain to me what I am missing. we may or may not sign JT till after the draft, but it has NOTHING to do with disguising our needs.

It isn't SO important that teams don't know we want to draft a LB.

It is SO important that teams can't figure out who we will draft PERIOD.

All of the teams do it. It is important to them.
There are several reasons for this.

1. If a guy slips that we don't really want...but someone else does...we can act like we do want him and trade down a few spots. I believe that was done to us with the Vernon Carey pick.

2. A team can trade in front of you and grab the guy you want if the know you will likely take him. This happens every year. A team will leapfrog other teams.

3. Teams use players to throw out false info. You can't do that if people have you all figured out.

Why would the Phins resign Chad Pennington ( who is unable to play right away), Jason Ferguson who is suspended for half the season, and not sign JT ?

1) they disagree about $$ - but in an uncapped year...it has no impact.

2) there is a benefit to waiting until after the draft - both in negotiations with JT and with Draft spin.

realist, that is true to a point, but not to the point that you refuse to sign a player over it.

NFL Teams pay dozens of people LOTS OF $$$$$ to know what other teams needs are.

And honestly any average joe can look at Miami's roster as it currently is and know they need a WR, NT, FS, OLB.....that isnt exactly rocket science to figure it out.

To not sign JT because it hurts our "draft strategy" is insane!! It doesn't even make any sense.
