This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
isn't the rule you can only sign someone for the amt the other guy signed for? feeley signed for about 3.5mm and i doubt JT will get paid more than that from anyone so it is feasible. still can't imagine him going to the jets. if he does I think the anger will be directed towards the phins mgt bc he'd clearly rather be here and would even take less $ to do so. can't understand why we insist on holding on to a guy like moses who has done nothing over JT
1) Not sure how that rule exactly works. I think they can sign someone for the same ammount of the player they lost,... plus 30% more but no more than that. So don't hold me to it
2) He might take a "little" less money to stay. If the Jets offer is clear cut above Miami's, he's going to NY. And who wouldn't. Gotta chase the $$$$ as an NFL player and make it while you can.
This is good, it's not like we need OLB's to run a 3-4 defense or anything. So what's our defense going to look like when JT leaves? Two glaring holes at OLB and a hole at Safety? What, are we expecting to have a Hall-of-Fame draft and fill 3 starting positions with rookies?
Mike why do you continually post old news in hopes that you'll get responses your act is getting old. You act like you have inside info, but in reality you have more free time on your hands in which to bombard this site daily with your constant posts about OLD news.
You read the story then post everyone else has already read the story hence it becomes old news. I'm sure others agree with me that your act is getting way old. Why don't you take a poll about yourself to find out.

uh???????? I'm lost anyone else following this jibberish?
"BUT I WILL SAY THIS... If JT walks to a division rival over simply money, IN A YEAR WITH NO SALARY CAP..and we win 7 games or fewer next season......FIRE THEM ALL......bring me Bill Cowher!!!"
I dont have a problem with you starting this thread at all MikeO, but when you post stuff like this it bugs the hell out of me. It's almost like no matter what, you want Parcells and companys to fail and their heads on a platter. Alot of "IFS" in this statement yet your calling to fire them all. Why be a fan if your going to give up on them in April? Even "IF" JT signs that doesnt mean they're gonna be any better or us any worse, might turn out to be the best move we never made, who knows? We could end up drafting the next Lawrence Taylor and he starts from day one. JT could get hurt and never play a down, it's funny how Taylor's 35 yet he's gonna make the Jets the best Def. of all time, but McNabb's 33 and he's old, washed up and this was the worst trade of all time.
This freaking SUCKS!! What the hell! If we don't sign JT we are STUPID! If we don't sign him and the Jets do I hope he KICKS OUR ASS when he plays us! This is NO freaking way to deal with a player of that caliber.
Here's what I think is going on. We were waiting to see where we take an OLB. If we took a Kindle, or Graham, or Morgan in round 1, we go back to JT and say, "look, we want Cam Wake and the #1 pick to get most of the snaps. We want you to be a pass rush specialist." If we wind up picking WR, FS, and NT in the first 3 rounds, which could happen, we have to settle for a developmental type OLB, like Misi, Sheffield, Witten, Lang, or Cunningham. Then, we go back to JT and say, "we've got two kids, we want you to come in and be a starter, and we want you to help groom the kids to eventually be the starters." It's two different roles. And I think they wanted to see how it played out before they committed to JT. And now they're hand is being forced.
I think the FINS have an ongoing problem with showing players appropriate respect:
1. This goes for incoming and existing, and it doesn't sit well with me. I t has the look and feel of bush league tactics over relatively minor $ amounts.
2. For the seocnd highest salary in the league in 2009, it surely does not have the look of the sceond highest salary. (Edit: I meant to say, doesn't have the look of second best talent)
Not say the staff needs to be fired, as they had to put out some $$$ to rebuild a decidely weak talent team they inherited, but they need to better understand and respect the value of negotiation vs. appropriate respect.
In My Humble Opinion.

This Team/Regime is no different than any other in the NFL, ever since the advent of modern day free agency there is no more loyalty on either side of the fence, players leave and management asks them to leave, we as fans suffer but it's made the league more competitive.
Except for the "IF" is that he hasn't even signed yet, but your already firing all of em. That is a fact Mike, he hasnt signed yet. Also JT is such a force that 30 other teams have been knocking the door down to get him. Like I said in another post, you keep telling everyone the sky is falling and I'll keep laughing at you.
"You keep laughing though. I'm laughing at you for OTHER reasons, trust me you have no idea. But we don't need to get into the personal jabs, cause nobody cares. So lets move on"
Yeah I'm scared because you know me on such a personal level Mike. Lets face it, you hate Parcells and Co. and want them gone at all cost, so keep pointing out everything they do that you dont agree with and maybe the masses will follow. One question; Would this be such a big deal to you if it was the Chiefs or the Bills looking at him?
You guys are suckers, this is all part of a smokescreen for the draft, planned by the Tri and being played out by Taylor and Sparano, IMO. THink about it, if the Phins signed Taylor before the draft, it would show our hand more then if they dont. Sparano makes a point to speak about him in the past tense on purpose, why?. Then why would Taylor want to hurt his team. Taylor wants to be a dolphin and retire a dolphins and is a smart guy, he is helping the Tri, keep everyone guessing on what we are going to do with our picks. If Taylor were to go to the Jets, he might as well move his family out of south florida. JT and his family want to live here after football. No way that JT sacrifice that to play for the Jets for a year or two. Maybe i am wrong but I would be amazed if I was. Parcells wants nothing spilled about the Phins intentions this offseason. And everyone is falling into rank. Remeber the old Jeff Ireland, slip a few days before we signed Jake Long, he said he was going to take the best player on the board, who would be the cornerstone for our defense for years to come. Then we took Jake.... This is all classic Parcells games.
