Ireland swung for the fences and whiffed big time!

I wonder if Jeff Ireland will ever admit that the Pat White pick was an absolute missuse of a second round pick.
There's no way he can now look himself in the mirror and say that was a good pick. Especially at the stage of developement the Fins were in at the time.
That 6 yard out thrown 10 yards short ended any doubt if there was still any, that White was a poor selection.
At this stage of his career he should at show a miniscule glimmer of some ability for which he was drafted for. Pat White has shown absolutely nothing to justify a 2nd round pick.
I, like many, thought it was a lame pick at the time. A massive reach at best. Especially since there was so much talent on the board that COULD HAVE contributed right away, and for years to come.
Unless Pat White grows 2 inches, puts on 30lbs of muscle, shaves a half second off his 40 time, and learns how to complete a 10 yd out, he has no chance to make any significant contribution to this team. WAKE UP!!!
Your eye for talent evaluating makes me wish you were the GM....of the Patriots!!!
I'm Pretty sure White was a Parcells pick. for some reason he really liked him---prob b/c he was a 4 year winner in college--and wanted him. Ireland had to take him when he was there in the 2d, esp b/c NE probably would have gotten him if we didn't. But at the time I said it was a terrible pick and laughed at whoever was the doofus on here who constantly said we should draft White with one of our top picks

My point exactly...EVEN WORSE! He saw a sample of their play on the NFL level and still found the need to go get them!
All bad personnel decisions though at this time. Don't forget Patrick Turner and Shawn Murphy. have to agree with socalphin and most other draft evaluators that said he could not play QB in the NFL due to his size. Guys like Ireland get paid big $ to make the right decisions, so I have no pity for them and fans have the right to criticize them.
Hopefully Pat is o.k. As soon as he was hit I knew he was hurt.
Some names taken after white & Turner:Johhny Knox, Massaquoi, Mike Wallace, Louis Murphy, Lesean Mccoy Fili Moala Phil loadholt. Most were ranked higher by most evaluators.
We have to remember That Pat white is really supposed to be #3 QB with the penny injury he was thrown into #2 in my opinion Thigpen should have been #2 and White #3 but still Like our WR's without a #1 they are looked at to fill rolls higher then they should, and That goes for Pat...
Oh I agree with that not using high 2nd round for #3 but Just saying we give him more crap about his play when he should have never seen the field this year...

Well on my way out of the parking lot, the radio was saying he was doing well... And they where going to run some test. But he had left the field with movement in whole body, and was having a conversation while being carted off the field...
At this stage of his career Pat White needs to show nothing! Give the guy the respect of a couple more years and then talk to me! He's a freakin rookie!!! Not everyone is Dan the man. He was thrown into the fire today and he was not ready. It showed! Give him time before you smack his career down. He has the heart of a lion and if you wanna throw size into it then let me say just this! Barry Freakin Sanders!!! Like the small guys say....... Size doesn't matter! Just ask Steve Smith!
Have to disagree with you finman34 when you are talking about the QB position which is why most scouts said he could not play QB in the NFL. The times have changed and these guys are huge.
Many smalls backs & WR have been successful, but many injury prone.
