The colts head coach is a disgrace to all NFL coaches.

Payton manning makes that team a championship team...........the coach has just shown how good of a coach he is........I hope the colts have no momentum going into the playoffs and get blown out.
How can you let the jets beat you like that when you had them in the ropes....>AGAIN.............I HOPE THE JETS BEAT THE CRAP OFF THE COLTS IN THE PLAYOFFS FOR BEEN SO STUPID.
And i hope they rest the players next week as well.............Then the bye week comes...............Make that 3 weeks no full contact football...................................NO MOMENTUM AT ALL.I HOPE
Now i hate the colts as much as i hate the jets.....

It was but most people don't realize that and the coach will catch the flack fair or unfair
From what I've heard, the HC wanted to go for the record but Bill Polian pulled rank and told him he didnt care about the record as much as he cared about a Superbowel and told the HC to rest Peyton and everybody else OR ELSE.
Bill polian and jerry jones are much alike then...........
A once in a lifetime oportunity to be undefeated does not come very often................Didnt this happened to the colts already? Didnt they rested the starters at the end of the season and go whooped in the playoffs?
i dont see not going for it(the perfect season)everyone points to the pats doing it and not winning the superbowl but i dont see how one has anyhting to do with another. The pats didnt lose the superbowl because they finished the season undefeated likewise resting your players doesnt mean you will win. I know manning or clarke could potentially get hurt but they could be tight and get hurt their 1st playoff game as well. The pats didnt win the sb but they diid give their fans an undefeated season which is something.
You could see it on Peyton's face, and I'm not sure they won't pay for the decision in loss of edge and motivation that would have been gained for pride of the no-loss season.
Whoever made the decision - It sucked.
I could buy it if they sat out someone who had had some injury issues, but they selectively rested players not needing the rest.
Bad form .. and IMHO will come back to haunt them.
you mean if the pats had dialed back in the regular season David Tyree doesn't catch that pass in the 4th Q of the SB but let's it go off his helmet? interesting...
How do you account for the fact that when that catch was made, albeit miraculous, the Giants were close enough to the Patriots so that the drive which continued won the game?
Let me break it down for you. Sure, you could argue that the Giants won on a miracle catch. You could also ask WHY the New York Giants, a 10-6 team, A WILDCARD TEAM I BELIEVE, was SO CLOSE TO THE 18-0 Patriots that they were in a position to WIN the game when that single drive was sustained by that miracle catch.
See, berkeley223, you miss the real point. The real point was that the Patriots GAVE EVERYTHING THEY HAD to win that last regular season game against the Giants.
One could argue that if they had "dialed it back" rested their starters and NOT SHOWN ALL THE TRICKS IN THEIR BOOK TO THE GIANTS IN THE REGULAR SEASON, then logic would dictate that they probably would have blown out the Giants in the SuperBowl and that miracle catch would not have mattered.
OR DID YOU INSTEAD THINK I WAS SAYING THAT THE DEFENSE ON THAT MIRACLE CATCH WAS WHAT THE PATRIOTS SHOWED THE GIANTS IN THE LAST GAME OF THE SEASON?
berkeley, berkeley, berkeley. I don't understand you. We used to be so close in our outlook that Ghotirule swore we were the same person.
At best we are talking about something that cannot be proved by science or math.
But I'll tell you one thing. We did not GO ALL OUT in 1972 to win those last few games when we had the playoff's wrapped up. We rested our best players in the last game. Our goal was not to win the game. We could have cared less. Like I said, I was hoping we'd lose to get that inevitable loss out of our system.
That Washington SuperBowl was too close for comfort. I kept saying, "Oh no, here it comes." Particularly at Garo's pass.
Now I hope all this anger at the Colts on a Miami Dolphin chatboard is not born of the desire to witness a perfect NFL season.
Please remember, our 72 Dolphins hold that record and if we are to root for anyone to break it, it must be a Dolphin team.
As the Reppa has said many, many times, it is just disloyalty to want some other team to have a perfect season.
So I can see Colts fans being angry but Dolphin fans????????????????
ChyrenB. NOT SO. Shula did not pull his starters. Phins won that game against the Colts 16-0. They had the game in hand and some starters were pulled in the third quarter. They were still going for the win. Shula always pulled starters late in the game with it in hand. Running the score up was never in the cards. The Colts were not a threat at that point. The back-ups were guys like Merc, and Langer. The Phins were so strong in depth that it really didn't matter. They shut out the Colts.
The previous game was against the Giants which the Phins won big. I don't remember the score but the game was well in hand.
I remember Shula on the "Don Shula Show" saying that they would go for winning out. Don't change what is working.
I checked. You're right, they went 15-1 in the regular season. I thought the 16 game season came on later. I'm surprised it has been around for 25 or so years.

personally, I think if the Pats pulled their starters in week 16 that defeatist attitude would have dragged them down in the playoffs and they would have lost the SB to the Giants 100-0. prove me wrong. or is yours the only valid opinion out there?
nothing's "wrong" BobH, I just find you make a lot less sense than you used to, and are a lot more exasperating....
It wasn't as much that the Pats played their starters in the last few games in '07 as it was that they played their starters in the 4th quarters of many games where they had huge leads. They didn't rest their starters, and they made the rest of the teams in the league hate them as they piled up the points in pointless games. Ultimately the large # of blowouts made the team cocky, and THAT's why they lost the Superbowl.
The '72 Dolphins had a swagger, but they were NOT cocky.

Merc yes, Langer no....I'm pretty sure Langer was the starting center throughout 1972, wasn't he? He beat out Bob DeMarco who was traded to Cleveland.
It's true that Shula didn't run up the score with starters. Even though we beat the Patriots 52-0 that year, that game featured third stringer Jim DelGaizo getting some reps as QB, I think he threw 2 TDs that day. If only we beat the Pats like that every time.
Resting your starters a full month before a playoff game? It's going to bite them in the azz, I can almost bet they will lose the first playoff game and hell on earth will break out in Indy, it will be fun to watch.

RESPONSE: See new thread under Sports Opinion Editor take on Colts Decision
I think you're doing your fans a disservices if you don't play to win every game. some lil' guy with very little money saved up to go see that game, and they didn't play to win it. If you're not good enough to play your starters and then pull them and still win the game, then your healthy starters need to play.
Yes the colts owe the fans or want to make the fans happy or whatever you wanna say or have one goal but.......
If the colts get beat in the first game or in any game on the playoffs...............its those same fans that are going to crucify them without much hesitation.........for resting their players on the last 2 games in the regular season.
They better win the superbowl now or they are toast.
