The colts head coach is a disgrace to all NFL coaches.

Then Bill Polian is the dumb SOB. And i still hope the jets beat the crap off the colts in the plyoffs. That would totally make my day....It doesnt matter how much i hate the jets.
Good call, IMHO...playing for the undefeated season means nothing if you don't have healthy players (and win) when the games matter.
That said the starters shouldn't have to sit they should still play just not entire games until the playoffs. That way they stay sharp...I'd play everyone the first half if it was my call. If the backups lose the game in the second half, oh well.
If the Phins ever get in the position to make a run at it again...I'd still say the same thing. Rest the players somewhat.
The team that usually wins or get to the Championship usually is playing great going into the playoffs, sitting on the bench does not quallify for playing Great... I think that was a big mistake... If a player is banged up yes sit him... But for the most part healthy his butt needs to be out there playing.... That team felt unbeatable before today, bet they don't feel that way quite as much now.... Momentum is huge in the NFL and I think they just gave it away....
I can't remember what game of the season we were when we beat the Bears. We were their only loss but it was certainly late in the season. We also lost to Dan Fouts and the San Diego chargers.
No they did not rest their starters against us but I don't think the situations were comparable. You have 2 near undefeated teams that seemed destined to meet in the SuperBowl. You hardly want to rest your starters. You want to play your best against their best.
Nooooooo. Not to win. But rather to see where you need improvement. To learn from a valuable scrimmage.
But going all out and risking injury is a very foolish move IN THIS PARTICULAR PLACE.
Remember, the Colts were not playing a team like DETROIT that was out of it and would probably be playing not to get injured.
They were playing the New York Jets whose playoff chances were on life support until the Dolphin loss and now were playing with all VICIOUSNESS.
The last time the colts did this, can't remember the year but when they got to the playoffs they where flat... You need to go in with the team flying on all cylinders not parked in the Garage...

Yeah, because apparently you don't hate them at all?
How can you possibly root for the Jets, unless it is during the season in a scenario that would improve the Phins' playoff position?
I am rooting for the Jets...... Rooting for them all to get the flu and miss playing next week.... If we needed the Jets or the Pats to beat someone for use to get in the playoffs, I still wouldn't be able to bring myself to root for them... Oh and maybe Brady will also get the flu when he is making out with some Jet player.....
YOU PLAY TO WIN EVERY GAME.....this loser mentality of sitting players for the playoffs is garbage! I am glad we didn't fall for that idiotic philosophy!!!!!!!

RESPONSE: That's the funniest thing I heard today. I don't think that was a problem WE had to worry about this Year.
Of course, maybe you are talking about in 1972.
I can tell you. At that time, I was 24 years old and a fanatical Dolphin fan.
I was worried sh_tless that we would do a 2007 Pats and go through the season undefeated only to lose in Post season. There were some minutes there in the Super Bowl itself that I thought that might come true.
Quite frankly, I was hoping we would lose a game just to get losing out of our system.
When we went 17-0, I sighed a sigh of relief but I tell you that I did not LIKE going undefeated in the regular season.
The 1973 team was better and more dominating. And whether because of the better team or because we had gotten the losses behind us, I was much more relaxed going into the SuperBowl.
Yes, my old and trusted friend. But who will also remember the 2007 Pats? My argument is that they did not win the Superbowl because they tried TOO HARD for the perfect season.
I feel for the Colt players. If you watched the game you could see the disgust on their faces when they were pulled. It's a shame for them...but I'll never stoop so low as to ever WANT the Jets beat anyone.
The Colts are getting KILLED everywhere this morning in the media. Every station is talking about it, even non-sports channels and stations are talking about it.
This is going to snowball into something huge here. This story has legs!! This is going to backfire on the Colts in a big way. Caldwell might be the only coach to go 15-1 or 14-2 and take a bullet when the season is over if they don't win it all. This story is everywhere and not going away.

Well, someone else that was there. We must be the same age. You're right. Some close calls in the 72 season. There has never been a team so dominate as the 73 Phins even though they lost a couple. It woke them up.
