For all the WR bashing that goes on here, we've got to give some credit for Bess last game. The catch he made on the last drive where he beat double coverage was sweet. Easily Bess' best game of the year

I think he heard the critics and heard the coaches and found some way of stepping it up.

Sometimes when guys are trying to make a team they play lights out...and then once they are established...they just play.

I hope Bess is going to keep it up.

I think Camarillo is also stepping it up.

Time for Hartline & Turner to join the crew.

I think Camarillo is a good player and a legit starting WR. He just needs some help and more time to recover from his knee injury.

I don't know what to think about Bess. He was great last year, but just can't seem to hold on to the football (fumbles, muffed punt returns, dropped passes) this year.

I'd like to see Ginn take over punt duties. Dropping a punt is MUCH worse than dropping a pass.

Ginn's issues in catching the ball seem to be at its worst when other palyers are near by.

- Not an issue on kickoff's as rarely to defenders get near when th eball is caught.

- Not an issue if Ginn is 3 feet behind a defender, but is an issue in traffic.

Bottom line: i worry about Ginn catching the ball in traffic.

You don't catch a punt in traffic. That's why I'd like to see him on punts rather than Bess. Bess drops punts, which is VERY bad.

Yes, you do have a lot of people nearby when you catch a punt. Ginn dropped a few ounts when he was doing punt returns a couple of years ago. We don't have a really capable punt returner on the team, so I guess Bess is the best option for this year. A lot of DBs have returned punts in college, I wonder if any of ours could be any good at that?

Not sure how you come up with that, as most (good) punts arrive just before the defenders. Chances of traffic are about 10 times as likely as a kickoff, and requires nerves of steel and great hands.

As noted, I worry about Ginn catching the ball in traffic. perhaps you put him in when the opponent is kicking from deep in their own territory (longer kick) and not when they are kicking from a short field and defenders arrive with ball.

Catching a punt NEAR a defender is very different from catching a pass with a defender right up against you.

Bess has looked like an undrafted rookie free agent this year.

His game vs TAMPA was good. But it might be his only good game all year. If we can upgrade the WR position his spot on Miami's roster isn't cemented for next year, that is for sure.

He is good but does nothing great. And he has proven that all year this year

How about we just teach Henne how to kick the ball to Ginn instead of throwing it... will that help??? LOL

the nonsense--- i am so sick and tired of everyone on her doubting these guys abilities aftre praising them the year before. Bess is GOOD- Damn good in fact. He made some great catches tonight and in fact, looked like our most surehanded receiver by far. I just hate seeing the nay-sayers on here constanty ripping on some of these guys. Every game is someone or another who screwed it up. You can look at every team in the league and find guys who have coast their team yardage or catches------- what do you think the panther chatrooms are saying about Dellhome- cheer up, it could be a lot worse

We don't even get to complain about Ginn this week because he caught everything and made some nice catches.

Good for him making positive plays when given the chance...

I love people who use this logic. Because our passing game isnt' as bad as one of the crappiest one in the league, just be happy for that fact. ha ha ha ha ha ha

Bess played great tonight! Hell even Ginn did well tonight! Big props to the WR crew for stepping up and making the catches tonight. Hopefully they'll keep it up.

The threat of getting clocked by a coverage team is why I pray they don't put Ginn in to return punts. I think the guy is simply scared to get whacked.

Bess made some awesome catches against the Panthers, and when it counted. Cudos for his play.

Credit to Henne also. Stepped up

I like Bess. I think he has good hands and runs good patterns. He has no speed, but his quickness makes him effective underneath. And his heads up play on that 3rd and 12 made the win possible. That said, it speaks volumes about how bad our WR are when we are ecstatic over a 6 catch, 62 yard performance. And we're happy with Ted Ginn's 4 catches for 33 yards. It's sad, really.

Good grief,, talk about "glass half empty". The big rub on Ginn was that he couldn't hold on to the ball. He got four catches for 33 yards because that's where Henne threw the ball.. He held on!!
We're a young team and improvement is what we are looking for here and it looks like we are getting it. After an 0 and 3 start, our record has been 5 and 2. Personally, I think that's great.

hey mike if you think they always play so damn bad and you think like this --"I love people who use this logic. Because our passing game isnt' as bad as one of the crappiest one in the league, just be happy for that fact. ha ha ha ha ha ha-- " why dont you jump ship and become a Bills or Jets fan
I dont think anyone in here really thinks you contribute anything positive anyways- just a negative fan thats all

Bess is as quick as welker is, there is noone that can make me see otherwise....Do you imagine how good bess would be in the pats offense....We are lucky to have him.....He had some pro bowl catches against the panthers.

And i know the PRINCE OF DARKNESS is going to reply to this...

Over the last few weeks Bess has improved. I think his performance eventually could be closer to Welker's if he were to get a real elite WR across from him (compare Welker's miami time, that is pre-moss, to Bess's and they are not that different). Leading the league with 17 3rd down conversion receptions is nothing to sneer at. YAC is a problem but some of that is on Henne not hitting him in stride. In this past game 4 of his six receptions were for first downs and a fifth was that 9 yard quick out which was a really nice play. I see no problem with congratulating him for a strong performance.

Note, I am not crowning him the next greatest slot receiver in the league but if you don't think there is credible reason to hope that he will be a good WR in this league you aren't watching him play.

Now we just have to figure out what to do about the rest of the group.

I wouldn't discount bess for the low YAC, as most of his plays are possession type receptions (moving the chains), and as noted come on 3rd downs for a 1st down conversion.

One could argue that welker does the same, but keep in mind that Welker benefits from moss stretching the coverage out too, thus more running space after catch.

Bess isn't Welker. I mean that comparison isn't even worth addressing seriously. It's downright silly honestly. Come on!

Wes Welker on any team is a #1 or #2 WR. Bess on most teams is a #4 WR at best. And Bess wouldn't even make some NFL teams that have depth at WR (Arizona, Giants, Pitt...etc). Welker starts for any NFL team he is on. End of story!!

I've been annoyed with Bess' drops this year, but to say he would only be a #4 WR on other teams is a joke. Bess is a very good slot receiver who would start as such on nearly any other team in the NFL. His lack of production relative to a guy like Welker is due to a lot of things, such as:

- Dolphins aren't a pass-first offense.
- Far fewer passes thrown his way.
- His QB has only 7 career starts.
- He doesn't have Randy Moss creating space for him and sucking up safeties like a black hole.

Welker wasn't on pace to catch 120 balls when he was a Dolphin, remember.
