During his rookie season I questioned the constant articles detailing how he was working on "learning the offense". There were stories of him going over plays while shopping at the supermarket and having his wife quiz him at home...blah blah blah. You can only hear that so many times before you start to question how smart he actually is. Why does he need to study so much? Marino learned the playbook quickly. I don't remember articles about Marino continuously studying it.
Check this quote:
"Beck has been working hard to eliminate practices from last season (like pass-protection calls, footwork techniques and route progressions) and regain ones from 2007."
What..is it THAT hard to go back to the 2007 offense? Why must he "eliminate" what he learned last year??!!

He didnt say that. The columnist wrote that. Dont bash Beck, bash the columnist.
I hope it works out for Beck. He is a nice guy...just doesnt fit in Miami and I wont knock him for that. He fits the Cameron mold, not the Parcells mold.
I like the Parcells mold myself, so good luck to him.
I wish beck the best just like i wished cleo lemon the best. They are real good human beings..The thing is i doubt they can can be starters in the NFL.
The things he has to unlearn are the things our coaches changed...such as, his footwork, his release point, his body positioning as well as anything else that got changed while he was here.
Then there is the playbook stuff such as the terminology of the playbook, route progressions etc.

Unlearn footwork? Unlearn release point? Isn't that moving backwards? Weren't our coaches developing him into an NFL QB? Why would he unlearn anything he learned in the NFL?
As for playbook stuff, he has to re-learn the new playbook, not forget the old one. What good will he be next time Baltimore plays Miami if he forgets everything he learned here?
The thing is what the coaches want from him...our coaches changed his footwork throwing motion and other things...maybe the coaches in Baltimore feel that he didn't need the changes we made, so they want him to change back to what he was doing previously. Or they may want to make changes THEY feel are important.
It's had to stop doing things you have ingrained in yourself....that’s the issue really.
None of this means that either staff is right (or wrong) in what they want(ed)...just different philosophies and different approaches.
I guess the term "unlearn" bothers me. It's changing your habits. Still, at his age, if he's still working on his footwork and throwing motion he'll never be more than an average backup in the NFL.

I agree. He is almost 30 already. From what he showed when he was here, he will not even be an average backup.
This is such crap when we drafted the kid everyone was singing his praise saying he could be the next Marino and all this crap! Now the kid is a retard who needs to study all day long in order to learn a "few simple" plays. Give me a break. Fickle fans! Hope the dam kid becomes a superstar
I saw him play. We all did. He sucked. Plain and simple, he sucks. Some guys have it some don't. This kid doesn't have it. He can't even take a snap from center without tripping over his own two feet. Nuff said

And if henne shows beck kind of talent all of a sudden, we will talk about henne too. Although henne at least has shown flashes of brilliance and a great arm. Something that beck never showed.

Exactly. Offseason is boring. Can't wait to talk about our wins against the $hits and cheatriots.
