A lot of talk with picks of moving up, if we can for Burrow I support iit, but if not, could the Dolphins trade down with the raiders for 12 and 19? Coming out with 12, 18 19 , 26, 39, 56, 6 of the top 56 picks!

RESPONSE: The more picks we make, the more picks I think we'll screw up.
I'd rather chance us screwing up a top 5 pick than, as you put it, "6 of the top 56 picks!" because we would screw them up as well.
The higher the pick, the more the rest of the world has a consensus as to who to pick.
I think Tannehill and Drake were both traded by the Dolphins, so we wouldn't get any compensatory picks for them as we may have had they been let go via free agency.
ChreynB, dude with that attitude i guess we should just dismantle the team. Every team drafts badly at times. I think last years draft went well and think Coach Flores has a clue. I am really hoping EVERY pick we make this year makes the team and provides an increase in skill at that position.
As for dropping down, I would be in favor of that if we could get the guy we still wanted. If Simmons was at 5 I would draft him immediately. If not dropping back would be good because you could get one of the other QBs later in the round. I would also flip (we get 12 and 19 in your scenerio) #19 to a team for other picks possibly a third this year and next years first rounder and fifth rounders.
I believe whatever strategy the front office will make the team better. It just will take time to see if the players pan out.
Yeah Im thinking we should trade down to. Get as many picks as we can in the top 100. My scenario we trade #5 and our 4th rnd comp for their (Raiders) #18, 2 3rd picks.
We end up w/
1 Becton OL LOU
1 Wirfs OL IA
1 Espenesa DL IA Trade down RAID
1 Swift RB GA
2 Hurts QB OK
2 Johnson CB UT
3 Ruiz C MI
3 Jennings OLB AL From RAID
3 Hill WR OH ST
4 Trade To RAID
4 Gipson Edge TULSA Trade UP for #154 #174
5 Brown LB PA ST
5 Coleman Edge SYR
6 Davidson QB PRINC
7 Robinson CB TULSA
7 Dallas RB MIA
tsstamper I have a few times picks being discussed in relation to the Drake and Tannehill deals, maybe not compensatory . At one time thought we had 14 picks in this draft
Jlyell, the higher the draft pick that is under discussion the LESS LIKELY that our management will screw it up. All the forecasters will agree the higher the pick. The lower the pick, the less the consensus.
Given the choice between our management and the pundits, I would choose the pundits.

That's the smart move. Build this team around the QBs we have. Next year pick one if necessary. Hit those trenches from every angle!!

It is a new regime, but after the Jordon debacle what makes you think that?
The Pat's and Seahawks have had success dropping down with late first picks, at times out of the first round
The philosophy is it much easier to get zero value with 5 picks than it is 14! All about talent evaluation. Hopefully this group with Marinos help can figure it out , but then Elway has not drafted QB well!
Tua is a risk, Herbert, Love,
Hurts, Fromm and Gordon and all really are ?'s, but so were Lamar Jackson , Russell Wilson,Tom Brady

Astro, Brady? Yes but there is an old saying. "The exception that proves the rule."
For those like TC, let me break it down. Corky comes out West. He mines a certain mountain range for gold for 30 years finding nothing. Wally walks on to that range mining for gold the next day and stumbles over a brick and finds gold.
Smart folks would learn from Corky, not Wally. How often is a HOF QB not drafted until the 7th round? It's downright silly to plan on that.
I just read Love was impressive at the combine with a good workout, some reporter (Hyde I think) is all up in his jock about us taking him at #5 if Tua is gone.
Here's my .02 cents -
Seriously?
A workout is a workout. Playing the game is another story. 20 TD's with 17 int's in 2019...And that's at the college level. There's not as many good DB's at that level compared to those in the NFL. By his stats, he can't hit the broad side of a barn or makes some really bad decisions, or both. I really don't think that equates to top 5 pick material by any means. Hell, that's downright shitty, not even worth a 1st round pick in my armchair opinion.
Utah St returned 2 starters on offense in 2019 Love and his left tackle. There was not much to work w/. Utah ST is not a destination football school that stocks and reloads talent. NFL guys know this and are pretty much judging Love by his 2018 tape which is pretty good. He still got UT ST to 7-6 in 2019 and that is noticed too.
I defer to you guys on this one because I never once saw Utah State play where I live in NC. Although I do remember Marino had a bad senior year when compared to his junior year.
Taking another look post combine. The trade down with tgevRaiders could be a good mine
Thinking
we land Logan Ryan in FA with Howard maybe the best CB tandem in the league no early CB need. If we land Dante Fowler that adds DE pressure
12 - Herbert or Love
18 - Best avail OL Thomas, Jones Jackson Lemieux
19- Swift or Taylor top RB
26 - DE Gross Matos or Chaisson
39 - Jeremy Chinn legit sleeper Simmons like talent LB or Kam Chancellor like safety. Watch his film. 4.45 at the combine
56- WR Mims , Hamler Claypool another weapon
