I was thinking the same thing. What coach is going to come out and talk trash about a team he manages? Either talk them up or shut the hell up and give vague responses like belichick.

He would get roasted if he came out and said horrible things about his players or management. Sad but true...

You guys miss the entire point of my post. Gase used the whole "culture" excuse for jettisoning arguably some of the best talent on the roster. His words. Ajayi wouldn't stick to the play and would free lance. Others wouldn't study the playbook. Still others weren't leaders or were bad locker room guys. Is there any doubt that the changes were made at his direction? Well, all I'm saying is put up or shut up. Talk is cheap. He's stripped the team of about the only stars they had on an already talent starved roster. If this blows up in his face, do you want hear more excuses from him? I don't.

Fins 72, I think that I'm agreeing with you, particularly given my view of Tanny's health. And yrs, you know how I feel about us getting rid of Ajayi and Landry.

why all the concern?? we got tanny back and his bionic @#$%& knee and Im sure he will throw for 4500 yrds with a 110 rating. I think gase realizes this and knows that his 3headed safety dragon will shut out all teams and lead the league in everything. muuuuuaaaaaaahhhhhhaaaaaa hhhhhwwwwwaaaa. just being sarcastic everyone, dont get your panties in a bunch. just an attempt at humor

I was mainly referring to the first paragraph of your post. What coach wouldn't say those things about his team.

I was made about Ajayi leaving till I actually thought about it. There were games when he just dissappeared and seemed to not care. We don't know went on behind the scene. Maybe he was a selfish a$$ who didn't fit well with the culture the coach was trying to setup. I believe Drake stepped in well and with Ballage and him back therr this year, I don't think we will miss him much.

Landry on the other hand will be missed...

Im on the record as saying Landry was my family's favorite player on Sunday.

That said.....it takes a TEAM to win in this league. These guys might have been extremely talented stars but if they don't play nice with others what's the point? You all moan and cry that nothing's done. SAME OLE SAME OLD. Well not this year. And again......I havnt seen 1 player say a negative about any of these players being shown Turnpike North out of Florida.

Next year we get a roof and despite the shade.......a lot more sunshine blown up our asses!!!!

How exactly did Landry not play nice with others? I've seen some thinly veiled criticism of the players that were vanquished for what I guess amounts to attitude issues, but I fail to see it. Yes, I know I'm not privy to what goes on in the locker room or behind the scenes, but Landry busted his ass on every play. Some might say his getting ejected from the Buffalo game was an example of behavior problems. Kenyan Drake got ejected too. Landry played with a chip on his shoulder and I loved it. Not enough of that "culture" in this locker room in my opinion. If they wanted to change the "culture" they might have been better off cutting dead wood like Devante Parker. There's certainly no chance of him getting ejected from a game for two reasons. One he'll probably be nursing an "injury" and won't be playing in most games. Second, he plays like he doesn't care on those rare occasions when he's in the game.

Look, I've said this before, I will be thrilled if I'm wrong. I will be the first person to say "I was wrong" if it turns out that all these changes end up being for the better. I am first and foremost a Dolphins fan. Grew up that way. I've watched virtually every game for the last three plus decades. But when Gase and Tannenbaum piss on my leg, don't expect me to believe it's raining. I'll give credit when I think a move is good. Signing Gore to a one year minimum deal was a smart move. Great player who will be a great example for the youngsters on the roster. Plus, he's an upgrade over Damien Williams. Signing Sitton was a good move. Finally a guard who actually played well for his last team. Huge upgrade over any of the guards we had last year. Loved the pick of Gesicki. He could be a special player. Huge upgrade over Julius Thomas who should have never been traded for in the first place. But, as for all the other changes (including most of the other draft picks) nope... not buying in. No way, no how.

You don't remember his last game? Ejected. He seemed to be a favorite target for other teams to upset .He was also a referee favorite as well as a fan fav. I loved it. But I guess when your gonna garantee a huge chunk of salary cap....you want a player that can play smart as well as athletic.

Kenyan Drake was ejected in that game too.

Yeah.....but he wasn't asking for $50 mill with like 30 garanteed. I love Landry....but something about him didn't click with the rest.No o e shed a tear, not one player. That made me think something was up we can't see.

Can't compare Landry's accomplishments to Drake's. Drake had a good half year's work. Landry broke the NFL record for receptions for first four seasons of a career. The point is that Drake was ejected just like Landry but Landry was the one that took all the criticism. Bobby McCain was ejected for throwing a punch at Amendola. No criticism of McCain's character or attitude. Seems to me that there are two sets of rules. One for players that Gase likes and another for players that are in Gase's doghouse. The problem is that often the players in Gase's doghouse are the most talented ones on the roster. The problem with Gase is that he acts like a coach that's had a ton of success. He's had one year where he made the playoffs as a wild card and got thumped by Pitts. Last year speaks for itself. I'll give Gase more benefit of the doubt after he's accomplished more than Tony Sparano did as a Dolphins coach. So far, he's running neck and neck with Sparano's legacy. They're both at 16-16 after two years of head coaching.

Yeah, no excuses...cept maybe,

"Hey! Gimme a break! Mayfield, Darnold, Allen and Rosen, were gone before I had a chance to pick.

So you can't blame me that Tannehill went out with a leg injury in August of 2018 in pre season. For Godsakes! The guy didn't even get hit. He was walking out on the field and the ground crew had neglected to see a rock and he slipped on that rock! Out went his knee. How the heck do you blame me for that? Just ask my friend Treasure."spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

ChyrenB,

I know your post is tongue in cheek, but on the off chance that someone would try to use an injury to Tannehill as an excuse or the failure to have one of the four QBs fall to 11, that dog ain't gonna hunt. It was made clear post draft that the only QB that Gase even had a fleeting interest in was Mayfield. He was, and is, all in with Tannehill. Moreover, Gase knows the condition of Tannehill's knee more intimately than any one of us on this board. Plus, (and here's the kicker) he has (his words) complete confidence in Fales and Osweiler if they have to come in and play. The QB situation is the last thing I want Gase to make excuses about. If he didn't learn from last year's QB debacle, he shouldn't even be coaching pee wee football.

I wish we never signed cutler.....And got 3 or 4 more loses.

We would had a chance at the top qbs this year.

EDIT TO ADD: but gaze wanted to win a couple of more games and keep his job.

Only logical explanation to bring this scrub cutler to the phins.

Treasure,

Who wanted Cutler? Who knew Cutler better than anyone on the staff? Was Cutler the reason that the defense couldn't stop anyone? Who decided to trade Ajayi for a bag of chips? Who was responsible for all the play calls? Who assembled possibly the worst assistant coaching staff in the league?

Sparano went 11-5 with Pennington. He lost Pennington and had to go with Henne. With Henne, a 2nd year crappy QB, he won 7 games. Honestly... Saying that after 2 years Gase and Sparano are on equal footing is being generous.... to Gase.

But I will admit I was wrong about one thing. Sparano's two year win loss record wasn't the same as Gase's 16 and 16. Sparano was actually 18 and 14.

Like it not, NFL success is and will always be measured by results. All I'm saying is that after two years. Sparano had two more regular season wins, a division title (yes Brady was out that year I know) and one playoff appearance. Gase has made a lot of changes to the roster that a lot of people think are questionable. He's in charge so its his right to make them. I'm simply saying, if with these changes, the team limps to a 6 win or less season, there shouldn't be any excuses. If Ross had prevented him from trading Landry, or cutting Suh, or trading Ajayi etc... then I'd say if the season goes in the crapper, Gase has a legitimate excuse by saying, "hey, you forced me to play with guys I didn't believe in. I wasn't able to run my offense." But to the contrary, he got exactly what he wanted. He believes in Tannehill. He's been effusive in praising Amendola and Wilson. He says he has full confidence in Osweiler or Fales to step in, if need be. All I'm saying, if the team continues to be a bottom dweller, who else do you blame for it? Tannenbaum comes to mind, but Gase's fingerprints are all over this roster. There's not going to be anywhere for him to hide.

I got to admit I never saw the double tight ends coming in the draft. I don't think anyone did. But I like the fact that he has a vision and is putting the pieces together for it. I like a plan. Cant say that for the rest of 'em.......ESPECIALLY Saprano. He got lucky and brushed off the wildcat for 1 season. Then Brady went down. Comparing GASE to him this early in the game is just wrong.

Next year we get a roof and despite the shade.......a lot more sunshine blown up our asses!!!!

I'm not sure I'd call what was done this off-season a vision but opinions can differ. What is certain, however, is that results are results. Whatever the record is, the record is. That's all I'm saying. Regardless of whatever spin Gase and Tannenbaum choose to give it, my barometer for whether the "vision" is working will be wins and losses. Three years into Gase's tenure, I think it's reasonable to expect progress. If the team wins 6 or less games, I'd say that whatever he's doing isn't working. I've said that if the changes work, I'll admit I was wrong. You may or may not believe it, but I really do hope I am wrong. Sundays are so much more enjoyable when the Dolphins win. The whole week following a loss is depressing. I just wonder whether those who are extolling the virtues of Gase's coaching "style" and roster purge will admit that perhaps they were wrong if these changes actually make the team worse?

There are things in this sport you have no control over. INJURIES. We got smoked last year......Our QB, Our first round pick, Cornerbacks.....we just got shredded wicked thin early on.

Some teams have depth and can overcome it all. Again Gases first season we were killing it until Tanny went down.

Next year we get a roof and despite the shade.......a lot more sunshine blown up our asses!!!!

Treasure, if you want to give Gase a pass if a player or players get hurt, that's your right. I won't. Three years to assemble adequate depth is part of his Tannenbaum, and Grier's job. To correct your post, our 1st round pick didn't go down to injury. Charles Harris played but he stunk. Our 2nd round pick was out for the year.

Losing Tannehill hurt certainly. But given that he missed part of 2016 and all of 2017, shouldn't Gase and the front office at least consider the potential for a backup to get playing time? The decision to go with Fales or Osweiler is Gase's decision. If either one is forced into action, are you going to give Gase a pass if they play badly and the team loses? How does that make sense? Part of coaching is preparing for the inevitable reality that players get hurt during a grueling 16 game season. If Fales has to come in and it results in an embarrassing debacle, that won't be an excuse for Gase, it will be proof that he's incompetent.

Injuries are part of every team's season. The good coaches overcome the injuries, the bad ones use them as an excuse for losing.
