thats right a cow is a cow, but a dog is mans best friend, i dont like torture for any innocent creature, a quick death would be nice if we had to eat it, a way of life SUCKS bbut i mean? its a cruel world out there and since humans have the power to kill everything i would much rather be the passive type by choosing not too.

"You were right numberone...you were right. The PATS and the 'BOYS had the same thoughts too. numberonedumbanddumber- you are a genius"Wow, another sterling prediction by the poster child for the dangers of illiteracy. So, let me get this straight. Essentially, the Dolphins traded Jason Taylor for Jason Taylor and Pat White and saved 7 million dollars. Now, I am not the greatest talent evaluator, but that sounds like a good deal to me."

Seriously... i don't see how anyone that eats any kind of meat can sit back and say that killing an animal is the same as killing a human.

But, whatever, that opinion is your right... its ok to kill animals that are tasty, but not ok to kill ones that are cute and cuddly.

I'm not saying what he did is ok... I don't think it is, but seriously, he did his time in accordance with our laws.

Personally, I think it is wrong that the commissioner has ANY say in whether someone can be employed or not based on conduct that is unrelated to their job. Thats what the criminal justice system and our laws are for. In fact don't we have laws that say that everyone is supposed to be given an equal opportunity for employment??

Well let me ask you guys this. how long have people been cock fighting? People who grew up around this sport raise roosters all the time to fight them to the death, is that right? Ofcourse it is, but please tell me the last time a person went to PRISON for cock fighting. When I first heard the term cock fighting I was in college and thought that it was some warped porn term. Where Im from people raised pits and rocks all the time and fought them. Am i condoning it? maybe, maybe not but the fact is that humans love blood sports, anything from two boxers going out and killing eachother to bull fighting where the madador kills an innocenent bull that has no chance to defend himself because his horns are shaved down. We have been enjoying animal and human killings for our pleasure as far back as the roman days. And now we are living in a society where you can kill a person in cold blood and get off scott free- you dont believe me than ask Amadou Diallo, ohh mah bad you cant do that hes dead. Trust me there are much worst people than Vick walking amoungst us, infact he is not a problem to society and 1)should have not gone to prison and 2) should be reinstated- I am sure that people on this board who are throwing rocks at the man has done worst things than he has...

TO suggest Animal don't have souls is a little selfcentered, all knowing and beyond arrogant...... I would have to say more animals have souls then people I have met in this world.... Animals or dog are known for unconditional love.....the true test of a soul is the ability for unconditional love of another.......

Sorry but that type of ignorance regarding dogs or animals belongs and leads to decisions like Mike VIck made.... and I voted for Mike to get a second chance and yes dogs have souls

I don't think it does... he was not gambling on football, and his operation in no way had an effect on the game of football. Should football players not be allowed to go to a horse track?? Vegas?? Play the Lotto??

I voted Yes, He should be allowed to return. He did his time. I know so many people that because they were felons at one time they cannot get a job anywhere. THis is BS because how is someone supposed to prove they are reformed when they cant get a job. My sis in law was drunk, wasnt driving but she acted obnoxious when she was pulled over and resisted arrest by pushing away the cop, she is only like 5'1 100 lbs but she was charged with a felony for assault on a law enforcement officer. She is the nicest person and helps out everyone and has 2 chidren and worked as a stock broker and made really good money but just that one stupid night when she had been drinking has now ruined her life because every job she applies for will not hire her because she is a felon.
No wonder people that get out of jail go right back to crime, how else can they support themselves and family.
You all that voted no, need to realize people do change and need to be given a second chance, even god I guarantee as much as he loves dogs would allow him to have a second chance to prove himself.
I do not think he even did most of what he was charged for, it was his so called friends but of course since it was his money providing the dogs and what not he is still guilty.
It reminds me of Charles Manson, he never killed any of those people, he supposedly brainwashed others to do the killing yet for some reason society thinks he is worse than the ones who actually did the killing... I still havent figured out how he got the death penalty, hell if I told one of you to go kill someone and you do it, who is more guilty, me or you?

P.S. I have 4 dogs and I love them and I believe they should be treated as well as people but I also know people deserve a second chance.

no one is perfect, we are mere sinners, so Mike deserves another chance, just like we all do, plain in simple, like Reppa said, paraphrased, let the one without sin or fault cast the first stone.....
silence right?

The difference I was taught is exactly that, only hunt or fish,
what you plan to eat, killing is not a sport, Hunting and fishing is a means of food and survival, killing more then you can eat or killing to jut let the animal rot is sick and as you described above, but there is a difference.....the differenc between the ALive story of the plane wrecked soccer players who ate there dead friends to survive, and let say and ED Gein or Jeffrey Dahmer.... and I am not in anyway trying to compare Vick or his actions at all to Ed Gein or Dahmer

My point is it has nothing to do with the game of football, and the NFL shouldn't be able to implement further punishment for something that doesn't affect the game of football.

To me, that would be like getting suspended from work and receiving a paycut because I got a speeding ticket in my personal vehicle while I was off duty.

If you are talkign about my sister in law if you could read you would see she was not driving, she was just a passenger that made a mistake and deserves a second chance but doesn't get one.

I votes yes but he only deserves a second chance if he has changed. The dog fighting issue aside....If you are a police officer and you break the law, depending on the severity, you cannot work in that field again.

As an Architect, I have to sign certain documents to work somewhere. Among them are confidentiality agreements and other contractual stipulations saying that I will not act in a manner that would cause my firm bad publicity or embarrassment. If I do, then I lose my job. Vick signed a contract with the Falcons and the NFL. In those contracts are stipulations about off field behavior. He violated that agreement then lied about it. He was paid a ridiculous amount of money by the team and by sponsors and betrayed them for the sake of his own sick entertainment.

The other part of this equation is the high public profile and the responsibility that comes with that. Like it or not, they are role models. If you are man enough to cash the 20 million dollar checks then be man enough to act with some responsibility and some accountability. Stop with the entourages and posses. Stop hanging out with thugs and get a clue. If you can't do these things then don't expect to stay employed in your chosen profession.

The only way the NFL or NBA or whatever is going to get rid of these problems is to stop looking the other way just because someone runs a 4.3 40 or can tie up two blockers.

Yes, everyone deserves a second chance but no more than that. Stop with the performance enhancing drugs and above the law mentality & behavior. If you aren't good enough to play in the NFL without steroids then you aren't good enough to play in the NFL (or MLcool smiley. If you aren't a good enough man to conduct yourself with integrity then you aren't a good enough man to make millions of dollars and be placed in the public spotlight for young kids to look up to.

Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas are two very good examples of this. They were labeled "too small" or too slow to be successful in the NFL but they worked their butts of and did it anyway. Without all the problems.

You're all overthinking it. It has nothing to do with eating meat or veggies, nothing to do with who has a soul. Dog fighting/killing is illegal. Period. And it's cruel. None of us would do it.

Would you like your pet to be picked up in the street if he got lost, and found his way into one of these rings? Have him have a miserable life and die a miserable death? No. Is your idea of fun on a Saturday night to grab some dogs and make them rip each other apart? No. Would you electrocute a losing dog? Hang him up while he whines? No. You wouldn't do it because it's not normal.

Football is entertainment run by private businesses. Players get millions of dollars because of TV ratings and game hype, not because they're athletic or talented. (Nobody pays me that to watch me do my job.) So if you're lucky enough to play in the nfl and be part of that exclusive club, then it's beyond stupid to jeapardize it. And if a private team, a private owner, decides your're not good for ratings, then you don't get hired. Period. No one has a RIGHT to a job, especially that one.

You should have added a vote option - I don't care. Mike Vick isn't worth a crap anyway.

1. Dog fighting the way they do it is barbaric and low class.

- To add to the disregard for the life of a loyal dog that gave his best, by torturing and killing him is lower than whale shit.

Animals of any kind deserve bwtter.

2. Competition and figting is one thing, self centered disregard for life is another

POS wanna-be-thug A-hole. If he had been fighting roosters, that's a different story...they are "stupid" animals.

Dogs on the other hand are companions and become part of someone's life. I have 3.

Dogs aren't my whole life but they make my life whole. F that POS!!!

P.S. Jeffery Dahmer started out his infamous career, torturing animals...
