The more I read about Tremaine Edmunds, the more I want him to be our pick at 11. 6'5" 253 lbs., runs a 4.54 40 and is freakishly athletic. Plus, sentimental favorite because his dad was drafted by and played for the Fins. I think he automatically solves the tight end coverage problem and has the lateral quickness to run down backs helping the run defense. I think this guy has rare ability and would be an incredible selection.
Sorry.......I hope a QB falls a bit and a team bites and trades our #1 for theirs plus a few others. SUH is gone. We will need a DT as well as a Linebacker. We can get the best tight end ever.....if our defense gives up more then we score, we lose.

Ferrell Edmunds' kid??!! This is cool. His old man had good speed for his size and I enjoyed watching him play. If he's a chip off the old block, then sign him up!!!
Edmund's other kid is also in the draft a big safety sort of a poor man's Derwin James. Im nervous about our interest in Vea, you fall in love watching his highlight tapes but I have watched UWA games where I was just waiting for him to do something. Sometimes I just felt that I was not watching a top 15 pick w/ that guy.

I feel the same way about Vea. He reminds me a little too much of Phillips. Boat load of physical talent but not always motivated. Edmunds to me is the pick if he's available at 11. He'll help us defend the run (great lateral speed) plus he'll be able to cover tight ends and running backs better than anyone we've had in decades. There are some defensive tackles that could be available in the second round that might be good. Tavon Bryan and Tim Settle both would be upgrades over who we have currently on the roster and might be available in the second.
My concern with Jackson is the same as my concern with Josh Allen. If you complete less than 60% of your passes in college, that's a problem in the NFL where the defensive backs are faster, taller, and more athletic; not to mention the defensive coordinators who will game plan against any weakness that you have much more creatively than is done in college. If any of the top three QBs fell to us (which I sincerely doubt will happen) that would be one thing, but there's no way I'd spend a first rounder on a QB with any significant question marks.

That's my dream scenario. Two young multi-talented defenders would upgrade our defense the moment they stepped on the field. Add the possibility that Raekwon McMillan can live up to expectations.... that would be a nice turn of events.

There are things I like about Allen and Jackson that I like more than Rosen and Darnold. They both have as much a chance to succeed as the PAC 10 guys.
I swear at times Allen has reminded me of Jim Kelly and Art Schliester (SP?) Schielster was a bum in the NFL but he was one of the best collegiate qbs I have ever seen.
Jackson achied a 3/1 td/in ratio in 2016 and almost repeated that in 2017 after losing 2 wr, 2 TEs 2 rbs and a fb to graduation. He worked hard to keep LOUV in play his senior year.
The only reason I would pass on a qb in 2018 is because we can get a development guy in rnds 3 or 4 and the 2019 qb class is pretty good if we have to dip back into the draft for a qb. Which we probably will have to do.
Folks, we have to get back to the reality that we really don't know if Tannehill will be back for this year...........or ever for that matter in 2019. And even if he does come back in 2018, that we are not going to have a plan for the future and will be looking at a much worse college QB class in 2019.
We also have to get back to the reality that this is the best QB draft since the Luck, Cam Newton, etc. draft.
We also have to get back to the reality that having traded away Ajayi, we can't just say, "Hey, so we just give the ball to Ajayi more."
We cannot let this draft go and use our number 1 pick to draft oline or dline and end up with either another Pouncey or Dion Jordan at best or follow the even worst advice from one of our posters......trade away our top pick for a low middle first round pick or a low first round pick AND a third and fourth round pick.

That'll work only if someone wants to trade up for pick #11. All the QBs will likely be gone by then. In any event, I'd rather have one impact player at 11 than several average players. When Jeff Ireland was here, he traded down when we could have taken Jason Pierre Paul and we ended up with Jared Odrick and Koa Misi. I'd have rather had Pierre Paul.
Impact player at 11, QB in the 2nd...our best course of action to address our current needs.
To move up now will likely require giving up at least four picks. I'd guess a swap of firsts this year, second and a fourth this year and a second next year...minimum.

That would be way too costly a price for a roster that has more holes in it than a slice of Swiss cheese.
no way one of the top 4 QBs is on the board past pick 6. Would be beyond dumb to trade up for one and I doubt we will. I don't want another space eating DT at 11 (Vae) since that would just be constantly bailing holes on the roster we keep creating (replacing Suh). I've seen some mock drafts where even with all the QBs going both the top LBs (smith and edmunds) are gone. That would be worst case scenario. Not sure what we'd do then, maybe D James even thoguh we are OK at safety
