Will only benefit us if we have a team that wants to trade it . No way the best player at any position will have much if any impact. We are that bad. We need depth and several holes filled. Fresh blood. And I really think Dan Campbell is the man for the job to help motivate , condition and train Rookies. Thats how you win championships. Draft young good players and Motivate them. Condition them so they don't get hurt.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Not only is that beyond silly to begin with, but I don't even think there is anybody in the organization aside from Shula himself who was even part of the Phins back in 1973. Griese is part of the radio broadcasting team, but that's about it. Not even Nat Moore (who works in the FO) was part of the team in '73. How can they have any swagger when they don't own the rings, they weren't part of the organization back then?

Nobody in the organization, and hardly even any fans, are cursed by 'satisfaction' when we stink profusely year after year.

Once again I'll explain. With Campbell I see a team fighting. Of course I want to win, but I can stomach a loss when you go down swinging instead of getting a called strike 3 looking for a walk. Philbin was lifeless. And I guarantee you won't see Campbell wasting valuable off season trading time making bad rap songs and taking the team to watch thug movies.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Unfortunately, this puts us in a position to kick the Pats out of the top spot in the AFC, making it possible they will have to play one game on the road. But, then, Belicheat will be less likely to rest his players...so we'll probably lose by 50...which is fine drinking smiley

Right, Vic. We win either way.

Most likely scenario is we end up with the 6th pick in the draft.
Three teams ahead of us (outside of Cle/Ten) that have 4 wins. I think Cleveland will lose to Pit and Ten could beat the Colts.

Cle 1
Ten 2

3 SD vs Den
4 Dal vs Was
5 49ers vs STL

All likely losses including Miami, leaving us at 5-11.

You make it sound like its our fault that we lost. We lost because the dolphins stink....

Just because Philbin was bad doesn't mean Campbell is good. Their attitude and fire may have improved...briefly, but even after firing BOTH coordinators what matters the most, strategy on the field, hasn't improved at all and in some cases may have gone backwards.

YES. But I don't see players quitting on him like last year at this time. I don't see stupid game time management decisions mistakes that cost games like last year. I see a guy thats fired up with a desire to win and a knowledge of the game and PEOPLE skills. However he could use an offseason to put his type of hard nosed team together. Help Tannehill succeed by using his knowledge as a Probowl superbowl winning tight end.

Campbells speciality was blocking. he did not pick any of these lineman. His stomach must cringe with vile as he watches jason fox and Dallas Thomas get beat every play or get a penalty for 10 yards placing Tannehill deeper and deeper in the Do Do.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

KB, how does a man become a head coach without becoming an assistant first?

I mean, are you saying that you would hire a Head Coach from Stonybrook College instead of an Assistant or Coordinator from a pro team.

Now Philbin had 15 or 16 assistant coaching jobs before he ever became a head coach. When I put him down for that, it was not the same as putting him down had he been an Assistant with the Cardinals and then become a head coach. It was like, "How come this guy had so many assistant head coach jobs (even one in a military academy) and in colleges BEFORE we had to give him a Head coach job.

There, it was the NUMBER of assistant coach jobs.

A HEAD coach has to start somewhere. He doesn't walk into a Head coach job from nothing.

Treasure, yes, we have screwed up past drafts and will probably screw this one up. You are 100% right about that. However, the fact remains that when you're mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, you need to start looking at the draft and if you lose, you can't feel bad about that because that means that your draft status is either improving, or at best, not getting worse.

Campbell has done nothing to show he should be the HC of this team. Everyone who says just let him hire top assistants---what top assistant would want to join his staff? You need connections and the appearance of not being a short timer in the job to hire those guys and DC has neither. Just look at the crap staff Philbin stuck us with. There's not a single other team that would hire DC as a HC or even a coordinator if we passed on him. Hiring him as the HC would be a HUGE mistake. If anything we've been even worse under him than under JP, other than those 2 fluky weeks right off the bat.

I don't see why anybody who think that Campbell would get anything other than another job as position coach after his time here is up.

He hasn't shown any ability to be a coordinator, at all. It's not like he took the reigns on offense. He left Lazor in, then eventually fired him only to give Taylor the role of "play caller" but leave the O/Cor position vacant.

If he had any idea how to be O/Cor, he would have taken that role upon himself when given the opportunity. I'm not saying he should have. I'm saying if he thought he could do it, he would have. But even with all his sleepless nights and weeks, he was too busy doing other things. Other things that have led to how many wins?

Yes, I liked the fire. I liked the words. I didn't like the punts and field goals that didn't match the aggression of his speeches. I didn't like his statements that the Raven win was a great win. It was a horrible, lucky, win.

I'll also just drop this here - I find it interesting that on most message boards the people who are firm Tannehill supporters also want Campbell to remain as head coach.

Is that because they really believe in Campbell or because they know that it's more likely a new coach will move on from Tannehill? Are they making their coaching evaluations in a vacuum, or are they basing their coaching evaluations on what will most protect Tannehill?

I understand your position, I just can't agree with it. I can never root for them to lose, can never accept losing, no matter what. For me, the thing's the game, not the draft. That's just an ancillary thing. The GAME is the thing. For me, it always has been and always will be.

I must disagree with you again. I think Campbell is going to be a damn good coach someday, but he isn't now and I don't want to suffer through a few more seasons like this one while he learns. I do worry about him being a nemesis to us in a few years.

Yes, the thing is the game, but you do realize that the draft is part of the game? Don't get the right players and where does your team finally end up? Pretty much right where Miami presently is and has been.

The Fins have absolutely nothing to play for, except pride and their jobs. All of us here wish for our guys to play well, but at the same time, lose the game to (hopefully) get a blue chipper in the upcoming draft. Can't do that if Miami had won a couple more games. They would, once again, be out of the top 10.

Being presently at number six in the draft, Miami is in a good position to either get that blue chipper or trade down and collect two first rounders, and maybe more. The top two college QBs have declared for the draft, so there will probably be a few takers who will be desperate to grab one and Miami could be in the perfect spot.

Once again, tho, I wish to repeat, that if Miami does trade down, that they don't drop out of the top 10.

They'll screw up the draft. But up next and last are the Patsies and there is no amount of money that could make me root for any team to lose to the Patsies, let alone us.

I am with you, especially when we can potentially knock them from the #1 seed and home field advantage. Even if they win, Miami still should have a top 10 draft pick because of the poor strength of schedule.

It would be a sweet end to a really shitty season to beat the Pats and knock them down a peg. My Boss is a Pats fan. He has Bill Belichick quotes all over the station. Most notably "Do Your Job". Yeah......Its worse here in south Florida then when I lived in NYC!
