What part of 'were' did you skip over? Give him credit for having Cam? I watch every Panther game and listen to Panther radio.
I believe almost anyone could CO the Panther offense. Why didn't he do so well last year? Cam is like having a linebacker of defensive end playing athletic quarterback. I was a HS QB... could only dream of having his size/talent mix. He can run, he can throw. A QB/Coaches/fan's dream.
I have been a Dolphin fan since the early 70s. Glad to be here with some fellow Dolphin faithful.
The Panthers Defense is improved from last year but they just let the 4-8 saints lay 38 pts on them (even with their swiss cheese OLine). I think the Packers put 30 some on them too.
Shula has changed the direction of their offense in the last two years and Cam Newtons play specifically. They have a shot at an all time team record for Pts. They are scoring more. Cams stats are changing, his rushing yardage will likely be at a career low, BUT his TD's, and QBR are already at a career HIGH, and his ATTs may well be. He is making better decisions throwing the ball more and running less. Shula HAS changed their offensive focus and it has worked thus far.
That said, I STILL don't buy into all the Panthers hype, they have had an EXTREMELY soft schedule 27th ranked at the beginning of the year and many of their opponents have turned out MUCH WORSE then last year on which those rankings are based. TO date, they have played ONE team that had a winning record. AND Cam Newton has traditionally blown up in December lol. I have a feeling when they reach the playoffs against good teams who are in sync, they won't look so stellar. At least I hope for our sake.

Haha... like I said I believe my late grandma could OC the Panthers.
Chren i would agree with you if tannehill would had made a comeback and won the game...
But the wet firecracker doesnt have it in him.
PS. He did ok by his standards.......But when it counted again he couldnt make it happen in the 4th quarter. AGAIN.
My wish would be for him to come back next year and be the best qb in the nfl but i lost all hope already...
if his name was Mike Johnson no one would want him. If we hire him it would be a typical Ross move of form over substance. His brother Dave failed as a HC in NFL and Mike failed as a HC at Alabama, and the minute he left and Saban came in he turned it into a powerhouse. Obviously "genes" have nothing to do with it.
Cam Newton is playing great but it's not become Shula is some QB guru. I'd be pissed if we hired him. I'd rather have McDaniels or Hue Jackson. We need to get someone who has actually been an NFL HC before.

Ummm weren't you the one that said you wanted mcdaniels and pioli? They're nothing more than beneficiaries of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick and both failed miserably on their own.
So you actually proved your point while expressing your desire to do the exact same thing.
Cam looks good executing Mike's game plan every Sunday. Cam has fiath running Mike's offense. Mike Shula also has done an excellent job of converting a college spread qb into a nfl qb. Can we say the same about our OC, hell no. Where is RG III, Kaepernick, Tanne? How about Foles, Cousins, Gabbert? Mike has done the job while others are still playing w/ themselves trying to figure it out.

Cam Newton is a top NFL QB and FAR better than Hennehill, but he is also far from 'ELITE' in the vein of Marino, Brady, Elway, Manning, etc.
Cam Newton has NEVER had a RAT out of the 80's till this year (currently at 97). He will also DESTROY his previous passing TD record and is also on pace for a record year in attempts, YPP, TD%, YPG, and YPA. And will probably end up with a career low in rushing (excepting years when he was injured), Sacks and INT's (again excepting injury years).
In a nutshell, ONE of the reasons the Panthers are being successful this year is that Newton is running less, throwing MUCH more productively and making less mistakes. It's hard to think the OC has NOTHING to do with that, especially since those trends started last year (Shula's first as OC)
I couldn't agree more about the drafting/talent evaluation though. Whether by luck or design they have assembled some talent. Lets see if they still look as good once they start playing teams with winning records...although that won't happen till the playoffs lol.
and I gave Shula credit where his credit was due as an OC and a qb coach. I did not get him credit for ST or defense or putting that team together. Go deliver that baby your having JoeF.

Because his team is undefeated maybe...QB's get the credit or blame in the NFL, just like ours does...lol Seriously. Look at Newtons Carer stats compared to some of those others. He's a Good QB like Eli or Rothlesberger but not a record book re-writer like those others.

DON Shula (not Mike). Won with Gresie, Marino, AND David Woodley. Unfortunately the Don of that era is not available.

Then be a mature adult JoeF, you don't have to go all caps on me. Hypocrical as always no consideration on what you post. You were the only one that did that and you were the only one I took a shot at.
