when talking about decision to sign Suh...he mentioned it was a collaborative effort...he mentioned Aponte, Hickey, Ross and scouts by name...he did not mention Failbum!

I have no doubt it's an indictment of the lame duck coach and also because I'm sure Failbum was against signing since he does not like head case players like Suh is!

This move may even make Coyle look good.

Got a feeling if Miami doesn't do well this season, look for Philbin and Hickey to be gone after the season.

philbin is done. he's not a leader, he barely was involved at the suh conference and when he opens his mouth it's with something lame like "we looked at a ton of free agents" when asked about signing suh

just get rid of the guy. he brings nothing. no play calling genius, no inspiration, no "fear of god"---nothing

he serves no purpose. let's just ride the season out with him (which will underperform due to coaching) and get a real nfl head coach in here.

the OP is annoying with all this "failbum" stuff but I agree with him philbin sucks across the board

The primary position of the coach is to coach the players. Let the front office bring them in. Of course they consider what players would fit in the coaches schemes but the final say so should be the front office.

Hard to justify, from any reasonable standpoint of sanity, why Philbin wasn't chopped at the end of the season. There were numerous signs of team hemorrhage and yet the hemorrhoid hung on...

Well, when we're bleeding from our collective ass again next December, its possible even Ross the clown might see the light. Philbin is just an odd duck with OCD and zero football creativity. As stated before, a text book example of the Peter Principal.

I didn't say Phibin was a good coach but coaching is his job.

I always have said that I wish we had kept Tod Bowles or even this year dropped Philbin and brought in Seattles OC Bevell. In my imagination Bevell brings w/ him Seattle Oline coach Pat Ruell one of the best in the business Coral Gable High and ex Cane. Who kknows?

let's also speculate that since this was a positive move, Philbin was against it...even though the PRES said the opposite.

So Tannenbaum thanked the PERSONNEL people who were responsible for working on this deal but he did not mention the guy who has NOTHING to do with personnel acquisitions other than to give his opinion/approval or disapproval. That's so strange.
