Ken you are failing to realize it is the coaching staff that says hey go out and play 7 yards off the receivers.
I watched the game and each time on the first TD drive I called where Rogers was going to throw the ball before the play and was correct simply based on which DB was furtherest off the ball.
It continued throughout the game, UNTIL we for the middle of the game played tight to the line of scrimmage.
Rex Ryan is going to be fired this year. I never thought I would say this.... Ohhhh man give me a sec... I can't but yeah you know what I'm getting at... God have mercy on my soul...

RE: I'm not failing to realize anything. I have been screaming about the cushion allowed opposing receivers all season. We should be more aggressive on defense and press receivers much more often. If you were paying attention, I've said this in the past.

The key to the loss was Finnegan's inexcusably knocking the receiver out of bounds to stop the clock. This guy has been in the league for quite a while, he should know better. He was completely out of position and made to look like a fool.
Finnegan keeps the receiver in bounds....GAME OVER, man!
Hey, Cap. I've seen that spike play over and over again. Is that what you're talking about?
If so, then it seemed to me that the guy slipped his grasp. It seemed like he tried to pull the guy to stay in bounds but he only had a slight grip on the guy's jersey which was easy for the guy to break away from. It seemed to be a matter of just where the two happened to be.
Mind you, that had been aggravating me ALL DAY....the fact that these guys were outmaneuvering our tacklers when it seem beforehand that there would be a sure tackle. And a lot of those receivers went on to run for twice the yardage after catch that they should have gotten.
Now should he have been closer in the first place? History wise...yes. Football wise....????
Yup, if that was the play you meant, I just went back and watched it.
On nfl.com, if you look at the first video they show you, the announcer says it's Courtland (sp) Finnegan. And they criticize him for being out of position even before the ball is snapped.
In fact, they, the announcers, actually say that they believe that HIS BEING OUT OF POSITION WAS WHAT LED RODGERS TO DO THE FAKE SPIKE INSTEAD OF A PLANNED PLAY real spike. I don't know. It looks like the rest of the Packers were playing it as though it was NOT a fake spike.
But on to the catch and tackle, I think it backs up my argument that as well as being out of position on a regular play, he was therefore out of position to keep the guy in bounds.
LOL. In fact, he was damn lucky to tackle him at all.
.....errrr.....maybe as history would have it, UNlucky because had the guy just scored, we would have had more seconds on the clock for our failed impossible shot at a comeback.
