or run more plays that are more complimentary to and/or suited to his talents? He has consistently shown that he is inconsistent in the pocket. From avoiding sacks to overthrowing receivers to underthrowing receivers.
Is he just a bad QB or is he just not designed to be a Darryl Lamonica or a Dan Marino type pocket quarterback?
This team has, AS USUAL, myriad problems. Tannehill is just one of them. Lots of people, including me, including some on this board, saw early that Tannehill was not going to cut it. In my opinion the Dolphins should have brought someone else in this year to compete for the job. Tannehill, I repeat, is not going to cut it. Time to accept that and move on. I think Lazor has already accepted it.

What tanny needs is not a running game. He needs stronger arms to carry the damn clipboard. Over and Over the same thing... stop the excuses and sit him. Just simply way to unreliable. Lets give Moore the nod for a game and see how much more efficient this team is.
I don't blame Tannehill 100%, but being at the helm, the guy that touches the ball every play, he gets most of the blame. His "hopeful" receivers were constantly trying to reach behind themselves to make a completion. The middle of the O-line couldn't stop the great Bill's defensive lineman and offensive plays could not get on track. When things improved after half time, the ball was moving offensively, but still throws were off and completions that could have made the game closer never materialized. Every team member is to blame but much of what didn't happen is on Tannehill.
He's not the guy to lead this team to a play off spot, never mind a SB berth or win.
We're not going to give up on Tannehill after the second game of the season.
Our Win-loss record in January will make or break Tannehill and Philbin.
Even in our win against NE last week his numbers were below average. This week they were better with worse results.
Those underthrown long balls week after week are disappointing, especially in year three of his development.

done with him: you don't lose to lesser teams. You have the best deep threat we in the league and you can never throw a deep td. Seriously I'm done with Tannehill and need to change my handle. I will go out and say 8-8 this year a slight improvement over last year. Oh well I'm used to shit play. We will win some games and dominate in others but clearly we do not have the QB who can take this team consistently week in and week out.
Of course QB's need running backs. Contrary to media propaganda outlets, this has never been a one man show. In his first two years he had noting in that department. Come the third a solid consistent entered the scene and Murphy's Law suddenly showed it face in Buffalo. Still awaiting info on Knowshon. Lamar Miller. Sorry in my book he doen't make it. Now to see what Tulane Green Wave Darkwa and Sooner Williams may bring. Two Rooks. Today everything went bad the moment that elbow twisted. Blaming all this on one person. Totally wrong.
Jsm0, I haven't even voted yet. I don't say Tannehill is a bad quarterback any more than I would say RGIII is a bad quarterback or Colin Kaepernick is a bad quarterback or that Russell Wilson is a bad quarterback. He is just not a POCKET QUARTERBACK. When are you going to get that through your THICK HEAD!!!!!
I have now become the number 2 vote for changing our offensive scheme. Sorry I should have created a third category for leaving things the way they are. Since I can't change it now, let those who feel that way post that feeling going forward.

It's always true that no one man is ever responsible for a football loss by a team.
The problem is that it is SO true that it is a truism, like "water is wet."
The quarterback is a crucial element of the team.
Philbin is determined to see Tannehill as a pocket quarterback. That takes nerves of steel, elusiveness AND the ability to avoid the rush WHILE being able to see the events occurring downfield, ANTICIPATE an open man, ANTICIPATE WHEN THAT OPEN MAN might have his route jumped by a defender, know when to lead the receiver long and not overthrow it, know when to throw it short but catch-able when the receiver is behind the defender.
All of this requires an in-born talent that Tannehill just does not have.
But WOW can he throw the short 10-15 yard slant pass on a tightrope while running horizontally.
But wow, can he make something when he sticks the ball into the RB's stomach and pulls it out when the defense commits.
Let's cash in the silver and stop trying to convert it to Gold.
Chyren-
Tannehill isn't a pocket passer. He requires plays that are mobile ones. Yet, he still lacks the accuracy, the touch, timing, to get the ball where it needs to be for completions most of the time, even if/ when he swings out of the pocket. I'm really down on his ability to improve and honestly don't believe he has the skills and aptitude to be a NFL winning QB. I had hope for him--now I don't.
A QB that throws short, throws behind his receiver, miss-times his throws just isn't going to do well. That's what is happening more often than not.
Colonel, I haven't that inability to pass when the play is DESIGNED to be a read option. I've seen it on the short pass when he is forced to go to it and improvise after being chased out of the pocket but that is not the same thing.

this is the 2nd week in a new offense. buffalo did to our O what we did to NE's last week.
Tannehill's throws were late. Our new offense is predicated on timing and getting the ball out quickly. He threw late and behind on a some of his throws.
I was amazed that we ran the clock out with 2:29 left in the half with 3 TOs.
I think QBs get way too much credit and way too much blame.
Yes, JSM, I have always said that about too much blame and too much credit. That applies most of the time to every quarterback from Peyton to Mr. Nobody.
However, I don't see Tannehill as a competent traditional pocket quarterback.
Take him out of the pocket and let's see what he can do.
went to the charger game today and saw QB Rivers throw some perfect corner fade passes for 2 TD's and run from some firsts. Tannehill does not have the touch and may never have it. You just don't succeed in th NFL with 18 college games
He didn't play well in the first game missed several open targets and was constantly behind receivers. At the trnf of the yearwe will have a tough decision like the jets with Sanchez
Buffalo has a decent D so give him a few more games but unless obviously is losing games I dont expect a change during the year unless the Rams want him for a high pick

Looked like his head was up his A$$ more than it was in the game
