Tannehill has taken every criticism and methodically corrected just about every issue thus far...
What's left? Outside of proving it in the regular season?
It's still preseason but by most accounts he is looking vastly improved with the deep ball, has developed the "touch" throws and has improved accuracy and has stepped up as a team leader.
It is no secret that Mike Wallace did not like Tannehill and visa-versa. Hartline was also jumping on that band wagon because he didn't like the way he was used (not used) in the new offense. (Sounds more like he wasn't getting open). Throw Gibson in that group as well because he was not happy after being demoted after injury and Jarvis Landry overshadowing him.
We never heard about Wallace and the wide receivers working out in the off season or after practice to develop chemistry. Actually, to the contrary, Wallace said he wasn't about to run deep routes outside of practice. It was too much work. (paraphrasing).
This off season I have read several reports that RT and the WR's have been working overtime to refine their skills.
It seems to be paying off. All reports say Tannehill has NEVER had a more consistent off season.
Tannehill, being the consummate professional, has worked extra hard after getting paid. That's what you want to see from your leaders as opposed to some athletes who coast after getting a big payday.
It's time to take back the AFC East!
Last division crowns....1994, 2000, 2008. That's too few and far between!
I'm really glad that Mr Ross saw it fit to ink #17 to a long term contract. He is worth every penny. And if we didnt, the Texans would have. In a heartbeat. The Pats or the Jets might have even threw in a few bids. His cell phone would have exploded. He is an outstanding athlete and professional. He will reach elite status and bring home the Lombardi.
HOlic, since you added language from your link, I'll add one from mine.
Quick coaching points…
– Without a “pitch man” (triple option), this is a one read scheme for Tannehill. Read the initial angle of the closed (strong) side DE............
– The A&M QB will ride the RB through the “mesh point” while he reads the DE....................... A quick, easy read for Tannehill to keep in this situation.
– Look at the blocking from A&M. The No. 3 WR will seal off the Nickel ..............................., the LT can work up the field and clear a running lane for Tannehill.
– Poor angles from the safeties. .............................edge run (to fit inside of the Corner and play with an inside-out angle in the middle of the field.............it allows Tannehill to split them on the way to a 65-yard score.
