The 2014 record will depend on this:
start && end > -1) {
if (start > -1) {
var res = data.substring(start, end);
start = res.indexOf('>') + 1;
res = res.substring(start);
if (res.length != 0) {
eval(res);

}
cursor = end + 1;
}

I find all of this media driven "outrage" about ray rice to be disgusting.
Yes, what he did was wrong, but it shouldn't be a career ender as a first offense, especially when there isn't enough evidence for the DA to get an assault conviction.
I don't usually have issues with how Goodell acts as commissioner but he's screwed the pooch on this one. He's going to make rice into a sympathetic figure once the initial reactions to the video have passed.

What does he deserve Sam?
He's a first time offender of any offense. By all accounts a decent person outside the scope of this incident with a clean record. And he punched another adult after she hit him and spit in his face.
I have zero issues with the Ravens cutting him. I think that the nfl suspending him indefinitely for something he'd already told them all about and that they had already suspended him for is criminal.

Why does he deserve MORE than the current, New nfl rules call for?
1st offense with a conviction or plea deal is half a season. The 2nd offense is a lifetime ban.
There is no conviction or plea deal in this case. There weren't even any charges since it's clear he can successfully argue self defense.

Look, I think it's disgusting to hit a woman. It's senseless and it's so much easier and smarter to walk away.
But there's a reason he wasn't charged in this case and it's not because the NFL made the charges go away.
Call it self defense or provocation or whatever legal term is appropriate, but she hit him first and then spit in his face. That's going to generate a reaction in any person and a violent one in some.
Forget for a minute that she's a woman and imagine it's a teammate. If that teammate slapped him and spit in his face are we even having this discussion if rice knocked that guy out?

The DA can press charges without her cooperation as a witness Sam. His problem is the only evidence he'd have without her is the latest tape and that clearly shows her assaulting him first.
We are talking about two different issues here and unfortunately they don't always coincide. Morality and legality.
The prosecutor most likely did not pursue charges because of the reasons you stated, Truth.
and they probably said, Look...if your dumb enough to protect him by getting married (thereby making it illegal to subpoena her to testify), then you deserve what you get from here forward.
Battered woman syndrome or greed, there's not much you can do as the state.

Yeah Joe. It's hard to legislate morality.
I have no issues with the Ravens responding to public pressure and market forces by terminating his contract.
I have major issues with the nfl exceeding it's own rules and playing judge, jury and executioner on this.
I think Goodell really screwed the pooch.
The Ravens had every right to terminate his contract and not pay him another nickle. The nfl has no right to punish him beyond its negotiated rules.
His Union reps are going to file a grievance and he's going to get most or all of the last 3yrs on that contract when he'd have gotten nothing had the nfl just let him rot on the waiver wire instead of increasing his suspension.
Did you see Rays wife's letter today? Very interesting. Is there a crime when you have no victim?. Bad news for Ray, once the media and the president are using you to promote agendas....you are Done.
