Clabo played way better than Winston last year. True that he was awful the first half of the season but once he found his groove he reverted to his old form.
He would not be a bad option and is probably the best RT available.
You have to remember that Clabo never played in a zone blocking scheme before but he did seem to pick it up after week 8. After giving up 2 sacks to TB in week10, he only gave up 1 sack the rest of the year.
He was good in pass pro but average to below average in run blocking all year.
A few other options are Eben Britton, David Stewart and J'marcus Webb

Its not just the system adjustment that Clabo had to deal with.
At RT he's used to getting help from the TE and a having the RB's chip on their way out in pass patterns.
He got very little help schematically when Martin was at LT because Martin needed the assistance. Add tot hat that Clay is an awful in line blocker and we didn't do anything to make his transition to a new scheme easier.
Its no coincidence that his play improved once McKinnie went in at LT and we could give him a little help now and then.
Good point except for the McKinnie reference IMO. Once Clabo straightened up, McK went on to give up all the sacks. Maybe the scheme changed in that they did not give McK the help and moved the RB, TE to the strong side...BUT it certainly didn't help McKinney.

I'm not saying McKinnie was terrific. Just that his presence allowed them to give help to clabo in certain passing situations where earlier they had to help Martin.
That helped Clabo get his feet back under him and gain some confidence.
Mckinnie wasn't bad, he didn't give up any bullrushes or get pushed back into the Qb... But those elite speed rushers and the CB blitzing in the Bills game exploited his weakness to get to his spot fast outside...

I agree, Clabo played decent once Mckinnie played LT... If nothing better happens, I would like to have Clabo as a worse case scenario..

At a rate commensurate with his overall play, I would bring him back as insurance.
But as I said earlier, I would have so many offensive linemen out there at OTAs, etc., that there would have to be a separate depth chart just for them.

SamSam, you seem to be very infatuated with the sexual preference of Martin and Incog......jus sayin
I don't think they were lovers, but if they were they would give a box spring hell lol. Their is no place for that for this topic if they we re gay lovers the would be paraded on TV as the new NFL player. The liberal media would love them. I am so glad they were not, because then the league penalties would have been alot worse.
