So which of these QB's will be given starting jobs as teams pass on the available QB's?
Matt Cassell, Michael Vick, Josh McCown, Josh Freeman, Matt Schaub (if released).
Also trade possibilities
Kirk Cousins to reunite with Shanahan in Cleveland
Rumors...
Matt Cassell to Houston
Cousins to Cleveland
I see Schaub as a backup....
McCown getting a shot somewhere after a great year.
Cousins getting a shot for a 2nd round pick.
Cassell as a place holder while a team selects a QB in a later round.
Vick getting a place holder spot.

There's not one guy in that fa group I'd count on enough as a starter to keep me from drafting a qb early.
Maybe cousins if I traded a lot to get him but that is it.
I agree they are not great BUT it may allow a team to take a player later like Derek Carr, McCarron, Garroppolo, etc and have a year to train them as a backup plan IF they don't believe in the top 3 guys or if the only one they like is gone.
RT's health and ability to have time to do his job ARE the most important thing BUT...
You don't give up a starter to get one. You add one thru FA!
By ALL reports this is the deepest draft in decades. We can get starters in the top rounds so DO NOT trade those picks. You are handcuffing Hickey. What if that traded pick turns out to be the next Steve Hutchinson or Troy Polamalu?
It is safer to depend on a proven vet over a rookie anyway.
Look at the top LT's last year. They sucked for the first part of the year. A vet can come in and perform in week 1.

Could be. But that's a dumb move.
You either have a QB in this league or you are looking for one.
If you are a GM/coach and you are counting on a journeyman/retread to make your career you aren't long for your job.
Now that there is a rookie wage scale, its less painful to miss on a QB early. There's no reason a team like Jacksonville shouldn't sign a FA to fill in short term and invest in a QB early if they think he's a franchise QB.
