We should fill the LT position in free agency. I would then sign Claybo another 1 year contract. Then draft a tackle in rnds 2 or 3. Robinson, Mewhort, Moses all should be able to compete or be ready to compete in 2015.

Then you aren't going to fill that spot in the draft. No draft pick is a sure thing.
You want an NFL ready LT then you pay for one in free agency.
Besides, the best LT in this draft is going #2 to St Louis.
No way we can afford to trade up to #2 or #1 to get Robinson.
It would cost us the rest of our draft and a pick next year too boot.

I agree we need to hit FA hard. But Claybo? really? McKinny gets a 1 yr if it was up to me. Claybo was horrible, Huge part of the problem last season. But going back to Sam's OP , moving up in this draft makes no sense. We have too many holes. I'd even be for unloading Dion Jordan for even more picks. The Jets have 12 picks in this draft! Lets hope they continue to pick shit. We need to start hitting on drafts or we are going to forever be a laughing stock.
Don't forget that Jeff Fisher has a little history with the Mathews clan so he may lean towards Jake. He had pretty good luck with Bruce. He was taken 9th overall in the 83 draft. Good genes right there. 17 years he started all 16 games!!!
What is it with all the love for McKinnie? He gave up 7 sacks in 10 games last year, 13 hits and 38 hurries!!! And he is twice the pass blocker as he is a run blocker.
That means he probably gets Tannehill sacked 12-15 times next year. There was a reason he was cut/replaced in Baltimore.
He's not even a good option at backup. You need someone with potential and someone who can play multiple spots.
We could throw a dart at the FA LT board and find a better left tackle.

The only way I'd bring McKinnie back is as a reserve. We need an upgrade at LT. We can live with status quo at RT. If we Re-sign any ot it should be Clabo.

We stayed put once and drafted Dan Marino. What's your point?

My point is they need to do something different because what theyve been doing for ever hasn't worked.
We are not close to been contenders and its going to take a while.
Id be happy to hit on just one player big time every year for 6 or 7 years.

We are doing something different.
We have a guy named Hickey selecting the players this year.

LOL. He came here from another Team and started Immediately. Without knowing the Offense our line immediately started to play better , gelled and stopped giving up sacks. His presence made Claybo and everyone on that line better. He definitely earned another 1 Yr contract. Guy can still play and with some time behind the offense now he is a great cheap option to have around . We pick up 2 Rookies in the draft a guy like McKinny will pay for himself teaching them a thing or two about Superbowl caliber play.

Wasn't trading up to #3 last year "something different"?

Getting a New General Manager is not something different?
Glad you would be happy hitting on 1 player a draft. How did that work for New Orleans when Ditka traded everything for Ricky Williams? You get sillier and sillier Sam.

That's huge speculation right there. He still gave up 7 sacks in 10 games. Clabo said himself it took time to learn the zone concepts. He had NEVER played in a zone blocking scheme before BUT according to you, the new guy on the opposite side of the line made him play better. LOL
Adding McKinnie wasn't the only change made on that line. Getting rid of the two knuckleheads playing grab-ass probably had as much to do with it as anything.

Huge speculation? LOL. Call it whatever makes you feel better. Bottom line, Our O line was giving up 4-5 sacks a game amd was on parr to be the worst line in the history of the game until ONE thing changed. We traded for McKiney. He started right away and there was a dramatic change. Call it chemistry , call it Claybo's learning curve, whatever. That's a fact Jack. Guy earned another 1 yr contract IMO. Absolutely.
And i also wish people would stop saying this team is going to sign a free agent LT.....For what 2 or 3 years?
We need someone whos going to last a while.
You need to realize free agent Oline guys havent worked out for this team..ever. For the last 15 years we have signed a bunch free agent Oline scrubs...including all those free agent Olinemen scrubs from dallas.
