I'm no racist and do not condone a word Ritchie ever said (although I think it was taken out of context) But I find Martins comments much more disturbing. Mainly because I think Ritchie was just being an idiot however I think Martin wanted to teabag Iggy in the worst way.
I think you are missing both the point of the latest news AND Iggy's point, Treasure. Like Iggie said from the start, "all of this was playful banter" until Martin decided to try to use it as an excuse to walk out.

HATE to say I told ya so.......
The Press did the same thing with Zimmerman. They are currently doing the same thing to that guy that shot a man at the movies after arguing about Texting. They will blow up anything and everything to get people pissed enough to take sides and read more . You form an opinion the day after an incident you are a fool.
wait, is there some story where the guy who shot the guy for texting at the movies is somehow being unfairly accused of SHOOTING A GUY FOR TEXTING AT THE MOVIES? is there some version of the story where this is somehow justified? maybe I missed this, I hope I just misread your post...

LOL. You just made my point. No, Not justified in anyway , shape or form. That old bastard is in serious trouble.
My point is however , if you read the news that day or the next the press lead you to believe that the guy was Texting and this guy just pulled out a .380 and blew him away.
More to it actually. Guy left to get management, then returned . The phone was away and no longer an issue. They started arguing again and the guy gets shot .
Not condoning it at all and that guy will have a lot of explaining to do. My point is the Texting really had nothing to do with the end result , but it makes for good press doesn't it?
Same thing with the Bullying Issue. that's the stamp given it and it made National news. Do not believe everything you read. The Press has an agenda. And its always twisted that way.
bottom line is the guy was shot in an argument that arose from his texting in the theater. I don't care if they guy who was texting threw popcorn at the guy, was a jerk and told him to F-off, whatever, to me it's just insane that these kinds of details should matter at all in the discussion, since there's no justification, short of the texter pulling a gun, for the shooter to shoot the guy. I haven't been following this story much but I am just hoping it doesn't become yet another example of stuff that is clearly right/wrong being turned into some sort of gray area that reasonable minds can differ over.
and I always thought Martin was a shakedown artist and pu$$y from day one, for what it's worth....

Can't argue with any of that. But if you remember the headlines from that day the press was really presenting something it wasn't. That's my only point. They did the same with Jonathan Martin. The did the same with Zimmerman. They hold a lot of power in the way Information gets released to shape it anyway they feel and its a shame they are not held accountable more.

Exactly.

I don't think it was originally about money.
I still believe what I said early one:
You have a young guy with who had trouble fitting in because he wasn't your typical knuckle dragger football player. He wasn't mentally tough enough for the NFL whether its because he's gay, intellectual, soft...whatever.
He wasn't performing well, got demoted and just snapped. He had a meltdown.
After he had some time to think about the consequences of that meltdown (ending his career) he wen't into self preservation/shakedown mode.
Truth, I agree that martin had mental problems and sort of snapped. Playing like crap and being switched to RT from his preferred position pushed him over the edge. He walked out on the team, and then concocted this "bullying" story as justification to cow the team into keep paying him, when under any other circumstance a player who walked out would obviously not get paid for not playing. Once he spoke to mommy and daddy, the lawyers, they got their story together and played the team like the fools they are.....
Martin is the perfect example of what is wrong with society today. No one takes ownership of their own problems or dealing with them, everything is everyone else's fault and if you disagree I will sue you for violating my rights...

Yeah. Its a shame.
You know that once they put their heads together and figured out that his career was over it became about making sure he got paid. I don't see how they can pursue any claim for future earnings since he never went to the HC, front office, union or his agent with any of these concerns prior to his meltdown..but I'm not a lawyer.
I think that when all is said and done, Martin's reputation and career will be in tatters and ironically enough, Incognito...who IS an ass... will be the victim and shouldn't have any issue getting a job next year.
The clearest sign that Martin is full of shit is that he refused to cooperate with his own unions investigation into the whole affair.
Well since the report isn't out yet....it's all still speculation BUT
I would re-sign Incognito to a cheap deal then tell Martin he is welcome to come back...so when he declines, we recoup 1.5 mil in cap space this year and next year.

Incognito isn't playing for us again.
All this, on top of the golf outing incident and a few others sealed his fate.
Reports were that after the golf outing in 2012 that Philbin wanted him gone and Ireland wanted to keep him. No way he survives now with our new front office.
As for Martin, I'd tell his agent to go find a team willing to trade for him and then I'd work out a deal for a mid round pick based on how much he plays in 2014.
If no team wants him, I tell him to get his ass in camp, start getting fined for missing mandatory team events and training, or retire. No way I cut him.

Bingo. You have to see some of the crap I deal with on a daily basis. Victimization and entitlement. But at this level , there just can be no room for mediocrity or any of that crap.
Sounds like Adam Schefter owes Everybody an Apology for not telling the truth , the whole truth , and nothing but the truth! After all he "Broke the story".

RE: I agree...I'd bring him back (Martin), make him particpate in every team event, practice the dog-sh** out of him, sit him on the bench all by himself, and eat his salary...No way I trade or release him. I'd do everything within my power as an owner end, and ruin his career for good.
