But I am intriqued by the potential of Jason Licht.
He started out as a scout under Don Shula and QC coach under Jimmy Johnson. Worked under Bill Belichick on two occasions (2002 & 2009-11) and then was part of a quick turn around in AZ under Exec of the year, Steve Keim.
It's all over Twitter today that Xander is in the midst of a two day interview with Ross that started in NY yesterday and moved to Miami today.
Jason La Canfora ?@JasonLaCanfora 1h Brian Xanders interview with the Dolphins began in NYC on Tues where the owner resides, and moved to Miami today where most staff is

"why is keeping the same structure a good thing? we just saw how dysfunctional it can be with philbin aponte. ross is nothing if not a complete idiot.
insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. didn't einstein say that?"
Perhaps he did. However, it was Armando Salguero that made the statements about the supposed Aponte-Philbin-Ireland relationship. There isn't a whisper of this from anybody else that didn't use Salguero as a source- a circular argument without corroboration. Suspect.

kahn is a money guy like aponte, not a personnel guy. I don't want him at all
xanders apparently has a terrible reputation among some in the league as being terrible. so I don't really want him either
the one name we've talked to who seems universally liked by league folks is Farmer, so I guess I want him of the names we've spoken to.
I don't know what Ross is doing continuing to add names to the first round interview list---I don't want this Bucs guy, even the Bucs don't want him. Maybe the Bucs should be interviewing Ireland....

Your right about Xanders Berk...I did further investigations and don't want him either. It looks like this organization is going to be messed up for at least this season yet again as the Philbin/Aponte dynamic duo is weakening our GM options as they fear a Strong GM. The guys on the current candidate list are terrible. SMDH.
Dolphins have a strong scouting dept., a positive legacy of the Parcells/Ireland years. What they NEED is a GM at the top who can make good decisions. Since none of the candidates have ever been a GM before, this will be a leap of faith by Ross. I'm glad Peterson is advising him, but the proof of a good choice won't be evident until the guy goes through a draft and a FA cycle. He'll probably be conservative his first time out, too.
chris, why do you feel the dolphins have a strong scouting dept? our drafts have been horrible. unless you are saying the scouts are giving ireland good names and he's just picking different people, which doesn't seem to make sense and I don't know how you'd know that anyway

dude, at some point we need to hire someone soon. He's interviewed 7 people and seems to be adding names as he goes, with no second interview. There is a finite period of time before real decisions must be made this offseason, and this dithering must end.

The only hard deadline Ross has right now is the Combine (Feb 19). As long as he has his man before then, all is well. He MUST get this hire right. Better if he takes his time IMO.
